Sen. Evan Bayh is airing a new TV ad in Indiana.

Oops, that's Sen. Hillary Clinton airing a new ad -- though you have to pay close attention to the first statewide campaign ad for Clinton in Indiana, for it focuses on the face of the popular senator from a popular Indiana political family for all but the closing frame.

"America faces challenging times,'' Bayh, his image close-cropped, says to the camera. "We need a leader who'll fight for good jobs, change trade deals like NAFTA, cut taxes for middle class families. Someone who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief from Day One.

"That leader? Hillary Clinton,'' Bayh says. "I've known Hillary for 20 years. She's got a spine of steel. She'll fight for our jobs, our troops, and the America we love.Strong. Seasoned. She'll always stand up for us.''

Clinton finally appears, off camera, in voice only, at the end with the obligatory ad approval.

The ad opens the New York senator's television campaign four weeks from the primary election there. At least, we assume that "Hoosiers for Hillary" have made a typo in announcing the ad will start on "May 8."

That's two days after the primary.

Hillary reminds us of George W Bush the way she resolutely stays the course in spite of the facts and reality.

It's time for a change from that sort of leadership.

A spine of steel? Pardon me until I stop laughing. This is more a "spine of jelly" who can't control her own husband from taking money to promote Colombian trade when she's opposing it. The daily Hillary question is whether she's going to dump Bill like she did Mark Penn, another example of the "spine of jelly" tolerating someone opposed to her position by keeping Penn on her team. Come on Bayh, you're better than that. Hitch your wagon to another spine.

This endorsement coming from someone that allows a refinery to dump increasing amounts of toxic chemicals into our clean fresh water supplies. A true endorsement for Hillary's stance on the environment. Hopefully Bayh joins Billary's bandwagon and gets caught in the undertow!

I think you mean HEART OF STEEL.

Hillary Clinton has to have a spine of steel to remain in the race after so utterly humiliating herself in Snipergate. I don't see how anyone can vote for a "commander-in-chief" who can tell such brazen lies and then try to joke her way through it. It was analogous to Bush's looking for the WMDs under the table at the the Press Corps banquet. Just what we need: more people with spines of steel to lead us into more wars based on lies to the people.

"Spine of Steel", huh?

So which is the lie, that statement or all the crying on the campaign trail??

More like a heart of steel that only works on what her BIG EGO demands.

Steel melts...

With the country headed for or in a recession, the Iraq War, the Afghan War, the debt, the pending Medicaid crisis, lack of healthcare.....

Hillary Clinton is a strong willed person to face these challenges.

Yeah, yeah, yeah....she is superwoman. With her income, her spine should be made of titanium, you know, the stuff that won't rust no matter how many times she uses tears on the campaign trail.

Tongue of snake!

Jellyfish. Tuff on the outside, but without a spine. She is not presidential material. Believe me I figured it out the hard way. $2,000 worth. That said, were she to in some way manage to win the nomination. I would vote for her before McCain much as I hate saying that. I just feel A) Obama is the smartest guy. B) McCain is getting up there and seems to be losing it a bit.

Spine of STEEL, eh ? I guess that's why they call her the "NEW STALIN".

I laugh at all this idiots, everyone sounds like a quitter, something she is not. Obama uses his endorsee's to throw mud and then plays Micky the Dunce. Hey Dummy, dont blame the military on the Iraq fiasco blame the politicans like you, who stand on the sidelines, and say I wouldn't have done that.
Obama said he would have them out in two months, now it's 16 months. How about 3 years, that is what one of his aides said, but wouldn't identify herself. Maybe he will ask Canada to help in lieu of Nafta

The slinky is made of steel, too.

Why is there so much bias on the part of the media against Hillary? She is truly an intelligent leader. Could it be that most men just don't want a woman in the White House? Would they rather a "wet behind the ears" orator who has speech writers?

Notice how the Clinton haters posting here are making no arguments; they are merely personally attacking Hillary. Both her toughness and her sensitivity are being used against her.

GO Hillary!

How can Hillary conduct important diplomatic US and world conversation? She is too close minded .If one is willing to forget blunders made in her husbands administration, why is she making fresh food for thought on her own? Witness her lack of campaign strategy and who's running it.She is only strong if it is her way or otherwise it's the highway. She lies and cries, unable to get away with this in leadership role.

Well gee, I wonder what Rev. "GD America!" Wright thinks about the ad?

Hillary Clinton has more steel in one vertebra than Obama has in his whole body.

I thought he was describing Obama for a moment. The issues variance is very small but even as a minority Mr. Obama is less of a polarizing figure than Ms. Clinton who continues to shoot herself in the foot (no pun intended) by running a totally dysfunctional campaign. Her choice of associates does not give great confidence in her judgment of people--of course she also married Bill.

Ok, everyone!!! go to youtube.com and find Hillary and then Obama Questioning General Petraeus.....

I dont doubt Hillary's "fighter" or "spine of steel" approach, but if you see obama, he was questioning the general and getting answers and being diplomatic.....

we need someone with brains who is not affraid to use force....Hillary cant negotiate and when it comes to big issues like healthcare, education and the economy....she has already pissed off lawmakers over her 30 years of experience and some of them are still bitter towards her or her husband and she wont get anything done.....

Want Change?, Obama08

Bayh only wants the VP slot. He'll say anything to get selected (like his mentor). I'm so glad we have the Internet these days...we certainly can't rely on the MSM for the truth. I dare them to play the complete sermons of Rev. Wright. That said, if Billary somehow manages to wrest the nomination from Obama, I will hold my nose and vote for her only to ensure (I HOPE) that the next two Supremes appointed will not be conservatives. If that happens, we'll lose Roe v. Wade along with environmental legislation and anything pro worker for the next 20-30 years.

a slinky's a wonderful toy

Steel or not, managing your own campaign is the first sign of an "Executive." Sen. Clinton has failed in that respect. I was in her court, but time and again she has disappointed me. Lying, mis-management and changing campaign messages is no way to secure my continued support or vote. Is there a forth choice for President? Gore?

More like a heart of steel that only works on what her BIG EGO demands.

Dear Mrs. Clinton,
Could you kindly explain how someone who is surrounded by people accepting financial gratification from foreign governments and corporations would be able to defend America's interests?
What if at 3am a Sheik is on the phone reminding you you owe him a favor?
Could you kindly lift any doubt we may have by revealing whom the donors to the Clinton Library and Foundation are, with amounts received? And to whom President Clinton and you generously gave 10 tax-deductible millions?
Could we know how you reconcile statements of admiration for Wat-Mart with promises to improve the economic situation of our low-paid workers and employees?
Regarding the solutions you have for America's major problems, could you let us know why you did not succeed implementing them during the 8-year William Clinton presidency or since you are a Senator. Examples: health care, war in Irak, NAFTA, end to the influence of lobbyists in DC, poverty...
Finally, could you let us know how you are going to restore US reputation abroad where, trust me, I travel a lot, the vast majority of Canadians, Asians and Europeans are split and pray Sen. Obama or Sen. McCain will win the election while - I apologise - they smile each time you involuntary misspeak?
Thank you.
