Barack Obama has called Indiana his "tie-breaker'' in the three-state series of primaries that started with Hillary Clinton's victory in Pennsylvania this week.
With Obama holding an apparent advantage in North Carolina on May 6, the question remains: What will Indiana's Democrats do on the Sixth?
Two polls coming out of Indiana suggest that Obama and Clinton both have a lot of work to do in Indiana in the next week and a half.
The South Bend Tribune's poll potrays a dead heat: 48 percent of the Democrats surveyed supporting Obama, 47 percent Clinton. The poll of 400 voters likely to take part in the primary was run Wednesday and Thursday by the Tribune and three Indiana TV stations, and carries a possible margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
The Indianapolis Star has reported on a survey run Sunday through Wednesday, with another virtual tie: Obama 41 percent, Clinton 38 percent. The survey of 535 likely Democratic primary voters carries a possible margin of error of 4.2 percentage points.
Looks like the Indiana campaign ahead could indeed be a tie-breaker.

Comments
Actually the Indy Star has it Obama 41, Clinton 38:

WHILE MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING "PRESIDENT OBAMA SHOULD BECOME MORE NEGATIVE TOWARDS SENATOR CLINTON." I DISAGREE. PRESIDENT OBAMA IS AN HONEST CLASSY MAN AND TO STOOP TO THE LEVEL OF THE OTHER CANDIDATE AND CHANGE FROM WHAT HE IS WOULD SURELY BE PROBLEMATIC. REMEMBER AN ALLIGATOR WILL ATTACK ON LAND BUT HIS ADVANTAGE LIES WITH PULLING YOU IN THE WATER. ONCE HE GETS YOU ON HIS TURF. USUALLY YOU'RE DOOMED. PRESIDENT OBAMA MUST STAY ON HIS TURF WHICH IS A CLEAN CAMPAIGN AND EVENTUALLY THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA WILL AWAKEN AND BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT IS TRUTH AND WHAT IS FALSE. THE REASON THERE IS SO MUCH FEAR IN REGARDS TO PRESIDENT OBAMA IS THE FACT HE IS UN ITING PEOPLE, EVEN THE YOUNG PEOPLE; UN LIKE ANY OTHER CANDIDATE BEFORE HIM AND ANYTIME A PERSON STANDS FOR UN ITY: THAT SCARES ALOT OF PEOPLE. LET'S LOOK AT IT REALISTICALLY. AMERICA ONCE STOOD FOR U NITY AND WHAT BETTER THAN A PRESIDENT WHO CAN ONCE AGAIN UN ITIZE THE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH DIVISION FOR SO LONG. THIS MAN IS THE GREATEST CANDIDATE I HAVE EVER WITNESSED RUN NING FOR PRESIDENT AND THAT'S WHY THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ALIKE HAVE TRIED TO U NITE AGAINST HIM. HE HAS ALREADY RECEIVED MORE CAMPAIGN MONEY THAN ANY OTHER PRESIDENT BEFORE HIM AND HE DID HIS WITHOUT THE LOBBYIST AND THE BIG WHEELS BUT THROUGH THE COMMON PEOPLE. I NEED SOME ONE WHO CAN FEEL THE PAIN AND HEART BEAT OF THE PEOPLE. IN MY HEART THIS IS NO CON TEST. I HAVE NO DOUBT, THAT THE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO AWAKEN AND SEE IT TOO. THDE OBAMA EXPRESS ROLLS AND LIVES ON!!!!!!!

If Obama is all about Unity, then why are his supporters so hateful toward Hillary? Both candidates are good, but for different reasons. We Democrats should get together, put both candidates on the ticket, and kick the Republican bums out of office!!

I agree with 2Bits, there--the vitriol and hatred by these youngsters towards Hillary Clinton is pretty disgraceful. I've never heard such vicious and sexist language in DECADES. It's as though these young kids are in a time warp from two generations ago, and feel free to use disparaging gender-based terms when talking about the Senator. It's as if all the gains of the women's movement are being wiped away by a bunch of mean little children who haven't had their history lesson.

Obama is all about Unity, my2bits, but Hillary has trashed him in the name of "politics" unnecessarily. If negative comments are thrown her way, it's because she's been outrageous in what she'd stoop to in order to try to win.
His "class," his composure, his integrity, his standards keep his behavior high. The rest of us flawed human beings have a hard time following suit sometimes when she calls from the gutter.
I do agree with you that we Dems need to win in November. Gooooo-bama

I also hope Barack Obama wins, but Democratic supporters had better be ready for even more negative politics from John McCain and his party. Obama is easily the most charismatic, appealing candidate left in the race. The other two have to go negative because their positive qualities are not as impressive as his. We will see if Obama has enough skill to overcome the politics of fear - scare tactics and he distractions are the only way to beat him.

President Hillary Clinton won't try to u nite what shouldn't be u nited. Debate is the core condition for Democracy, not fake illusions of hybrid nonsense. That's Republican talk, and the accusation Guingrich used against Democrats --gridlock- when they didn't go along with further erosion of social policy. Alligators might be dangerous indeed, but beware of monkeys who lure you with cute gestures and empty soundbites. And don't ever forget this is not American Idol.
