With the arrival of Pope Benedict XVI at the White House tomorrow, the ceremonies on the South Lawn will include the singing of The Lord’s Prayer.
“I think we've struck the right balance, and that it's perfectly appropriate,'' said Dana Perino, the White House press secretary, asked today about religious overtones at a state event.
This is not only a head of state who is visiting, but also the leader of the Catholic Church, she notes. Even the president’s plans to greet the Pope on arrival at Andrews Air Force Base today are unusual for an arriving head of state. The president typically greets such visitors at the White House.
The two – who met last year at the Vatican -- will hold a private meeting at the White House, which acknowledges that there are points of disagreement between them.
Such as the war in Iraq. And the death penalty.
“I really don’t think the president plans to spend a lot of time talking about .. Iraq… with the Pope,’’ Perino said.
But, Perino notesd today: “There is much more agreement than there is disagreement.’’ And the president will underscore some of those areas during his public remarks in the welcoming of the pontiff: Addressing human rights as well as the sanctity of life.

What good is that going to do, save this incompetent administration. I hope those prayers were for the 4000 dead and 50,000 maimed from our Armed Forces, suffering in a moronic war in Iraq, or for the suffering citizens of New Orleans, whose federal government turned a blind eye to their devastating needs, or made matters worse for them!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Will they be saying the Catholic Our Father or the King James one?

Only the Corrupt Atheistic Leftist media and its minions of Rob Sherman clones will have an issue with the singing of the Lord' prayer. Heck, Mark, if you're there, are you afraid your ears might fall off when hearing the Lord's prayer? I'm sure David Gregory and all will despise every moment of it.

Actually, nothing in the story indicated the slightest controversy over prayer to a make-believe god, but you weren't interested in letting the facts get in the way of your rant.
What say you about the fact that the Vatican has been steadfastly opposed to your two favorite means of homicide -- the Iraq war and the death penalty. Are not Catholics anti-American if they follow the Vatican on those issues? Are not many American Catholics defying their faith by their blood-thirsty support for these two uniquely-American modes of respecting "the sanctity of life"? Answer those questions, not your zombie rightwing straw man questions.
