When last we checked in with this midwestern swing state, Ohio was sorting through a messy episode involving the married Attorney General, his married roommates, subordinate female employees and a vomit-caked nose, among other things.
Now comes word from northern Ohio that a married state lawmaker, Democrat Matthew Barrett, has resigned because of photos of a topless woman, not his wife, that somehow appeared in a PowerPoint presentation he was making to a high school class about how a bill becomes a law.
As with the Attorney General scandal, this is not good news for Democrats.
If the dominoes line up right, or wrong, depending on your affiliation, festering scandal in the high-profile AG's office make the Democrats' job of selling likely presidential nominee Barack Obama to Ohio voters that much harder.
Race will be an issue, never mind the campaign trail drivel about Obama being a post-racial candidate. And Republicans are hard at work trying to present Obama as the product of Chicago's corruption-plagued political machine.
Just the thing to appeal to Buckeye voters reading about alleged sexual harassment and attempts to cover it up swirling around the state's chief law enforcement officer.
In Barrett's case, the stakes are more parochial, but still significant. He held a Republican-leaning seat in a House in which minority Democrats are closing in on the majority for the first time in more than a decade.
Whoever controls the state legislature after the 2010 census would draw up new congressional district boundaries.

Andrew Zajac is writing this like he is not happy the Democrats in Ohio are on their way to blowing it. He knows Ohio is a key state for both parties and that if the Dem candidate doesn't carry Ohio then the Dem's chances of winning are pretty tough. Good for the country, bad for Andrew Zajac and his friends in the media as well as the Democrats!

The headline, ' More sleaze from Ohio', seems as though Andrew Zajac does not care for Ohio. Don't worry Andrew--since you are making moral judgements--the Pugs have had more more sleazebags caught than the Dems.
