We all had our duck calls on in the blind over there in Central Park NRA cards in hand. Disgraced fund-raiser Norman Hsu did a lot more than just pump $850,000 into Hillary Clinton's campaign bank account: He also raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local, state, and federal candidates who have endorsed Clinton or whose support she courted.

Yep he was there, I met him, Tavern On The Green. FACT.

January 5, 2008 -- The first shoe dropped for disgraced Democratic fund-raiser Norman Hsu as he was hit yesterday with a three-year prison term for a 1992 fraud case - paving the way for the feds to bring the longtime fugitive to New York to face additional charges.

A state judge in Redwood City, Calif., sentenced Hsu, 56, to time behind bars after rejecting a bid by defense lawyers to have his 15-year-old guilty plea tossed.

Hsu's lawyers argued for the old case to be scrapped - claiming he lived openly by hosting high-profile political events - and accused authorities of dropping the ball by failing to pursue him.

The prominent fund-raiser came back on the law's radar screen last summer when news reports outed him as a fugitive, leading the Clinton campaign to refund at least $850,000 in donations.

A new federal indictment unsealed in Manhattan in December hammered Hsu with 15 additional charges, including wire fraud, mail fraud and violating election law.

Norman Hsu and Susie Tompkins were proponents of making money off Chinese/Hong Kong/San Fran sweat shops. Their reasons for trying to pass a fair wages law in the US seems obvious- it would force their competition to pay workers more. The more US workers make, the more expensive the product, the bigger the demand for cheap-labor Chinese (or illegally made) product.

Buell, Hsu and Soros can back those kinds of laws looking altruistic toward American workers, while in reality they are boosting China.

Senator John McCain has retreated from his longtime commitment to public financing of campaigns since he started planning his 2008 bid for the presidency, according to nonpartisan advocates who had hoped McCain would be a strong voice for reform during the most expensive presidential campaign in history.

McCain, who angered conservatives when he coauthored a bipartisan law aimed at taking big money out of politics, in 2003 cosponsored legislation to expand the federal matching system to help fund presidential campaigns, but failed to add his name to similar measures in 2006 and 2007. And while McCain once supported a law in his home state of Arizona providing full public financing of campaigns, he now says he opposes that idea at the federal level.

An Obama connection?
News reports and now court testimony have linked presidential hopeful Barack Obama with Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi through Tony Rezko. Here's a rundown:
March 11, 2004 -- Obama met Middle Eastern bankers at the Four Seasons hotel in Chicago at a reception hosted by Rezko, who was courting potential investors for a 62-acre South Loop development. Auchi later took control of that project but did not attend, sources say.
April 1, 2004 -- Auchi flew in to Midway Airport on a private plane and attended a Four Seasons reception hosted by Gov. Blagojevich. Rezko planned the event and was there. Obama was not.
April 3, 2004 -- Auchi attended a dinner party at Rezko's Wilmette mansion. Obama and his wife, Michelle, also were there, according to testimony Monday at Rezko's corruption trial. The Obama campaign's response: "Senator and Mrs. Obama have no recollection of attending any such event."
Oct. 11, 2006 -- Charges against Rezko announced.
Jan. 28, 2008 -- Rezko was jailed for withholding details of his finances -- including a $3.5 million payment from an Auchi company in April 2007.
Auchi -- who lives in London -- had been convicted of fraud in France in 2003. After visiting Chicago and Detroit in 2004, he wasn't allowed back into this country in 2005, according to a prosecution filing in the Rezko case.
The April 3, 2004, gathering for Auchi took place at Rezko's mansion in Wilmette, with about 100 people attending, Levine testified.
"Mr. and Mrs. Obama were there, were they not?" Rezko's lawyer, Joseph Duffy, asked.
"Yes, sir," Levine said.
Later Monday, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said: "As he has said previously, Senator Obama does not recall meeting Nadhmi Auchi at any time or on any occasion, and this includes any event that may have been held for Mr. Auchi. Senator and Mrs. Obama have no recollection of attending any such event."
But according to two sources familiar with the gathering, the Obamas attended the Wilmette reception, which came less than a month after Obama's Democratic primary win for his U.S. Senate seat. Rezko had been a key fund-raiser for Obama, who has since given to charity nearly $160,000 in Rezko-linked contributions.
Levine testified he was invited to the reception after meeting with Rezko and his family days earlier, during a spring vacation in Puerto Vallarta.
Auchi couldn't be reached Monday. His lawyer, Alasdair Pepper, told the Sun-Times in February his client "has no recollection of meeting Senator Obama." Auchi is appealing his French conviction. His 15-month sentence is suspended as long as he commits no new crimes. He is not accused of wrongdoing involving Rezko.
Obama is not accused of any wrongdoing. But his relationship with Rezko -- who is accused of demanding kickbacks from people seeking Illinois government business -- is under a microscope as he seeks the presidency. Obama particularly has drawn fire for buying property from Rezko's wife -- a strip of land adjacent to Obama's Kenwood home -- at a time Rezko was already known to be under federal investigation.
Levine testified Rezko had to leave Mexico early to host Auchi. So Levine chartered a private jet to fly Rezko's wife and children -- as well as his own family -- back to Chicago on April 3, 2004.
That night, Levine testified, he attended the reception, which was arranged to interest Auchi in investing in Illinois.
Gov. Blagojevich hosted a separate dinner party for Auchi two days earlier, at the Four Seasons hotel in downtown Chicago, the Sun-Times has reported.
Auchi was named by prosecutors in the January court filing that led to Rezko's bail being revoked and his being jailed. Last April, an Auchi company wired Rezko $3.5 million in connection with a valuable 62-acre South Loop site, which Rezko didn't disclose to authorities. Auchi's General Mediterranean Holding now controls the land at Roosevelt and Clark.
Prosecutors said Rezko appealed to the State Department in November 2005 to allow Auchi to enter the United States, after Auchi was unable to do so.

Mark, I know Obama is your guy, but this line kills me: "While the senator from Illinois has accepted contributions from law firms that have a lobbyinsg presence in Washington, he has eschewed donations from lobbyists themselves."

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) related to a fundraising concert by musician Sir Elton John on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Elton John, a foreign national, is prohibited by federal law, from making any contribution to a federal, state or local election campaign.

“Recent news reports suggest that Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton for President have accepted an in-kind contribution from a foreign national, Sir Elton John, in contravention of federal electon laws,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton stated in an April 14 letter to the Office of the General Counsel for the FEC. “On behalf of Judicial Watch and its supporters, I hereby request that the FEC investigate this matter.”

According to a press release issued by the Clinton campaign, the expressed intent of the concert was to raise funds for Hillary’s campaign for president. In the release, Elton John is quoted as saying, “I’m excited to support Hillary by performing at what will be a truly memorable night.”

Press reports also show that Sir Elton John, on March 17, 2008, through the Clinton campaign, sent out a mass email announcing the concert and soliciting support. The Elton John concert took place on April 9, 2008 and raised more than $2.5 million (from the sale of 5,000 tickets) for Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton for President.

However, according to 2 U.S.C. § 441e, “Contributions and donations by foreign nationals,” it is illegal for any foreign national to “make a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value…in connection with a Federal, State or local election.” The Washington Times reported March 27, 2008, that a “1981 FEC decision prohibited a foreign national artist from donating his services in connection with fundraising for a U.S. Senate campaign.”

“It looks as if Elton John, a foreign national, gave a valuable, in-kind contribution to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, which is prohibited by law. The FEC and other authorities need to take appropriate action and investigate Hillary Clinton, her campaign, and Elton John,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

A big part of Obama’s contrived sainthood is that he is somehow "above" or "different" from the Washington establishment.

In reality, he's a major player in the web of institutionalized influence-trading that afflicts official Washington. After he was elected, he quickly established a political machine funded and run by a standard Beltway group of lobbyists, P.R. consultants, and hangers-on. For the staff post of policy director he hired Karen Kornbluh, a senior aide to Robert Rubin when the latter, as head of the Treasury Department under Bill Clinton, was a chief advocate for NAFTA and other free-trade policies that decimated the nation’s manufacturing sector (and the organized labor wing of the Democratic Party).

Obama’s top contributors are corporate law and lobbying firms (Kirkland & Ellis and Skadden, Arps, where four attorneys are fund-raisers for Obama as well as donors), Wall Street financial houses (Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase), and big Chicago interests (Henry Crown and Company, an investment firm that has stakes in industries ranging from telecommunications to defense).

Obama immediately established a “leadership PAC,” a vehicle through which a member of Congress can contribute to other politicians’ campaigns—and one that political reform groups generally view as a slush fund through which congressional leaders can evade campaign-finance rules while raising their own political profiles.

As John Kass said in the Chicago Tribune, "As we wait for Obama to transform our politics, let's hold our breath and see who turns purple first."

Well, please question why Hillary Clinton has a surrogate on her staff, who stumps for her, that is a not only a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, but also calls Wright her pastor; this person is Rev Marcia Dyson, the wife of Rev. Dr. Eric Micheal Dyson. She was licensed to preach by Wright, and her seminary education was paid for by Trinity UCC. In addition, Congresswoman Shiela Jackson-Lee, another of Hillary Clinton's surrogates, is a staunch supporter of Rev Wright and has listened to him preach for the past 15 years, at least, during his annual visits to her church in Houston, Tx. Not to mention, that during the Billwinsky fiasco, Wright was called upon to support the Clintons. If you are going to criticize at least be honest; Obama's contribution was to Trinity Church not to Rev Wright. If you want to know what Trinity Church has done not only for the poor in Chicago, but the millions afflicted with aids in Africa, it is well documented. Trinity UCC has giving scholarships to over 8000 college students, who ultimately received undergraduate and graduate degrees. They have several senior living facilities. They provide Hospice Care. They provide comprehensive drug treatment and counseling services. They opened a computer center in a small town in Africa. These are just a small portion of services Trinity UCC provides. owns and operates. And just think, White people have benefited from these services...oops, but all that does not matter. However, no one questions all of the millions of dollars the catholic church spends on their Pope and Bishops. They are not lexactly iving in three room apartments and neither are Rabbi's. Ministers who have reach a certain stature in their faith community are well cared for. So don't act like Rev Wright is the only faith leader who is living well. But, what you don't know is the many, many years, when Trinity was building the new church, that Rev Wright did not receive a salary. Moveover, no one questions why there is a Greek Orthodox Church or German Lutheran Church, yet because Trinity UCC embraces its African roots, it is called a separatist organization, while it is a part of a denomination that is 99% white. Wright is no more a racist than the people who accuse him of being racist. Obama has every right to donate his money to a place where he knows it is going to be used to help others. Trinity UCC can prove and have proven what it does with the money, and there are thousands of benificiaries, Black and White, who can back it up. Get your facts straight.
