NEW ALBANY, Ind. - In a state he has called a potential "tiebreaker," Sen. Barack Obama on Wednesday predicted victory in the Indiana primary, despite an electorate that closely mirrors states where he has recently suffered sizable losses.
The day after Sen. Hillary Clinton easily beat him in Pennsylvania, Obama set high expectations for himself in the two May 6 primaries in Indiana and North Carolina.
Clinton's campaign, meanwhile, reported being on track to raise $10 million during the 24 hours following her win, money she desperately needs if she is to remain viable against Obama's Internet-fundraising machine.
As the Indiana campaign moved into a higher gear, there is little question the Illinois Democrat has some advantages because of his status as a neighbor. A fifth of the state's Democratic voters live in the Chicago media market, where he has enjoyed heavy coverage during the four years since his U.S. Senate primary win.
The rest of the story is in Thursday's Tribune.

Advantage Clinton.
Barack has to tape Michelle's mouth shut.
He also has to write a script and not deviate from it for 2 weeks. He has to answer all questions about Rev. Wright and Rezko as if they were questions about the economy.
"When was the last time you met with Rev. Wright?"
"We have a plan to grow the economy. Here's what we're going to do...."
"Did you meet with Rezko and discuss government jobs."
"Jobs. Yes, we're going to create jobs. Here's how...."
Obama has to show discipline for 2 weeks, no matter what the Clintons try to throw at him. Remember, the Clintons are now backed by the vast right wing conspiracy and so they have a lot of experience at this kind of thing.
Stay the course, Barack. Don't deviate. And for goodnessakes, Michelle, SHUT THE F--- UP!

I sure think Senator Obama can win Indiana, in spite of what Senator Bayh may bring to the race. I don't think he can have the Democrats in Indiana in the lock-step mode that Governor Rendell had them in Pennsylvania!! At least, I hope not, because if he did, it sure would be a peculiar kind of democracy. One that I thought we chased out of the Party, back in the Boss Daley era!!We shall see!! SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Ummmm....Sorry Barack, but you can't win Ind.
People in Indiana aren't like the elite loons in San Fransicko. People in Indiana have faith in God and love to hunt...with [guns.]
Oh, and Barack, did you hear The Pope say 'God Bless America' during last weeks visit?....a far cry from your racist, American hater Rev. Wright!

Why is the news media kept so far away--shouting distance for questions?
Posted by: What? | April 24, 2008 12:41 AM
Change never come easy. People know the broken system they distrust, but they do not fully know what change might bring. The question for them is: Should they stay in the water which is rising little by little, or should they take the hand which is reaching out to help them, but unfortunatly is not white?

The best way for Obama to go negative is to go positive.
The WP, via CNN, reports that there is now a discussion in the Obama camp as to whether he should go negative in Indiana.
Simply going negative would be a critical error, opening Obama to charges that he would be contradicting the very messages that have inspired his efforts and undergirded his campaign. This is a gap that the Clinton team would surely leap through. He would be further drawn into the swirling chaos that the old politics has created--as the Clinton camp would sure wish-- further enveloping and distracting voters from the fundamental messages of his campaign.
The best way for Obama to go negative is to go positive--clearly, strongly, and powerfully contrasting the method of "kitchen sink" politics, where any statement or position--even statements that are diametrically opposed; any claim, no matter how false; and any trivial distraction can be used simply in the effort to win at any cost, with the genuine effort to move the nation into a more substantive and honest politics--and into an Administration that will be grounded in these principles, rather than the very same methods and distortions that we can so easily see having been employed over the past seven years.
He should relentlessly tie the former method to the politics of the past--and to indicate the consequences for the nation that these politics have wrought--in the loss of national stature, Constitutional and moral authority, economic stability, and our most important treasure, the lives of our sons and daughters to a cause borne of such distortions.
I.e.:
"We have had enough of the negative campaigning of the past. We have seen what it has done to us over the past years--the "kitchen sink" politics of distortion and falsehood, of being willing to make any claim--no matter how true, false, inconsistent or contradictory--to put forward one's personal agenda, has threatened to take this great nation down the drain--financially, in terms of our standing in the world; in terms of our most important and basic treasure--the lives of our sons and daughters--the very future of this nation.
Do we want the same result? The same candidates, using the same old tactics, leading to the same outcomes of the all-too-recent past? Those who will do or say anything to be elected--and then will do or say anything afterward to justify their mistakes?
We need a change from the politics of the past. We need someone who will say enough of the politics of the kitchen sink, of trivia and distortion. It's time to drain the sink. It's time for someone who , instead of fighting to divide the nation in pursuit of victory, will fight for you by saying: We will not play the same old games. That's the old politics. That's the politics that led us into Iraq, that left Osama Bin Ladin free, that led to violations of the Constitution that we solemnly pledge to uphold for this nation, and that has led us to be faced each day with the loss of promise that each new American life represents.
We can be seduced by politics of tactics, of fear. We've seen it before. And we've seen what happens after
Will you join me in putting this era of old politics behind us, into a new future where you, your country, and the needs of your family and your future come first? Where we step beyond the tactics, distortion, and trivia of the moment, that too often have led to a long and difficult future for our nation, into to a time when the genuine needs of our nation and our country matter most?
Change is never easy. But when it is difficult, it is what we most often need.
Will you join me in saying "No" to the kitchen sink politics of the past, to putting the era of old politics, of trivia and tactics, sniping and distortion, behind us? In saying "Yes" to a new and honest future, dedicated to the real needs of the American people, and not to the trivial battles that have divided and distracted this country for so long? To the real changes that this country has needed for the past 7 years, rather than to a continuation of the politics of the past? Will you join me? Can you join me? Let me hear it:
Yes we can (etc.)"
This should help to lead voters away from the churning pool of chaos and incitement, the distracting, impulsive song of the Clinton camp that, in its vague insinuations, pulls people to the seeming attraction and safety of the old--and will to help lead them towards an era where we can leave this ill-thought trivia behind for a considered, honest and principled statesmanship.

I believe Obama will win both Indiana and North Carolina on May 6 and the super delegates will turn to him in droves after that, securing his nomination, driving Hillary from the race, and allowing the Democrats to start focusing on the defeat of Senator John Dubya McSame

We better investigate the origins of Clinton's new money.
Where it is coming from is going to be decisive. if it is popular, grass roots, legitimate campaign contributions, it means something more than if it is somehow power broker money getting passed off as popular grassroots money.
Hard to know.

Pennsylvania was no surprise. Clinton was supposed to win Pennsylvania, she was supposed to be toe to toe with McCain right now. She should've closed the deal months ago. Instead, she's having problems with a man who was once a relative "unknown" to most Americans. They're trying to make out like PA was a BIG victory, well, not really. You have to use your head on this one. First of all, she did win by 10 points, it should've been by lots more than that. What happened to her 20 and 30 point leads in PA? This is a former first lady traveling around the country with a former president, her husband, and they could not put this thing away already? That begs the question about superdelegates. As soon as she announced she was running, half of them should've instantly gone to her...I'm certain they've been helped by the Clintons in some way, by favors, etc. And they don't just flock to her? Something's wrong. Think. All she claims to know is "how to play the game", well, I'm more interested in the candidate who can change the way the game is played, and it's not Ms. Lying Clinton. Obama 08!!!!!!!

I was born & raised in Ohio and cannot believe Hilary won there. Wake up Indiana and vote for someone who can bring this country together-not rip it apart.Look at who is doing all the smears, insults, and dirty politics.Clinton is money & power hungry-She really scares me.Obama is the RIGHT man for the job.

He doesn't really have to go Negative against the Clintons but more so go factual. Bring up the speechs' Bill has made and who paid him. Bring up the person who donated almost 1 million dollars to the Clinton Campaign that is in Jail now. there is so much that Barack has not brought up that he should and needs to.

Man, I sure hope Obama wins on May 6th. If he gets two vicotories the super-D will flock to him, but if he does not she will stay around for some time. Another thing Hillary's Nickname is going to be Boble Head thats all she does. I loved Hillary when this started, but the more I watched the more it seems to me she is trying to destroy the party. I think she fells she is intitled to be the nomonie. I hope Indiana puts this to rest!!!!

I wish everyone could be objective and vote in their best interests. If you voted twice for President Bush, it is time for you to vote for Barack Obama. If people did not fall prey to hate and fear back then, America would have a different president, and we would not be suffering the way we are now. Do not vote for the "safe" candidate, for the "been-there-done-that" candidate. Because America will still "be-there" in the past and repeat the mistakes of old. Obama has clearly pointed out that the gas-tax holiday is not going to provide lasting relief for us. I am suffering at the pump, and I know that 30 dollars, spread out over 3 months, will just not make a difference. Meanwhile, the gas-tax will prevent the roads from being maintained, and when I get a flat-tire from a pot-hole, I will be paying to fix it. Obama knows we need a long term plan, this quick-fix is a joke. If Hillary Clinton can't see this, then that's the kind of president she will be. She will propose "solutions", and because she has no clue as to what it is like to be an average American, she will think she is doing the country a favor. What could is a solution if it doesn't work? What could is a solution if it doesn't help us? But if she had judgment, she would not propose such ridiculous solutions. Obama is our next president people. Please realize this and help him win in Indiana and North Carolina.
