Sen. Barack Obama appears to be "weathering the storm'' over his remarks about the bitterness of working class voters -- at least on the national stage -- according to the Gallup Poll.
Obama has maintained a 10-percentage point advantage over Sen. Hillary Clionton in Gallup's daily tracking poll, with results in from surveys taken Friday through Sunday.
Obama 's 10-point advantage among surveyed Democrats matches his best standing in the campaign so far, Gallup reports today. And his support "remained strong in tracking interviews conducted on Saturday and Sunday'' in the midst of the controversy over his reported remarks about working class voters -- for which his rivals have accused him of elitism and being "out of touch.''
"It is likely Clinton and Republican John McCain will continue to remind voters of the remarks, and the possibility remains that it could affect voters in the coming days,'' Gallup reports. "But so far they seem unaffected by the controversy.''
The impact of the controversy within Pennsylvania remains another question. The argument has occupied center stage one week from the state's presidential primary. Reliable polls in coming days will gauge the impact of the controversy in the Keystone State.

What storm!!!? You mean his mentioning the truth and the headline storm to twist his words and to rain on his parade. Come on, if you can't handle the truth then get out of the election process!! Try not to do too much twisting, its bad for your back, and your reputation!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME. ALIVE. NOW.

The American people aren't stupid, Bush supporters aside. They know the guy made a mistake in how he worded the plight of rust belt economies. I guess it's better to talk about BOMBING IRAN, or being at war for 100 or was it 10,000 years. Maybe he should just lie about sniper fire.

A gallup poll is not how we vote. Note the Philadelphia Inquirer that shows Hillary spanking the junior senator quite handily 50-44%.

Just like they used to do at that school in Indonesia.

This was a "Clinton influenced" non-issue all along.
I'm glad to see that voters recognize this and are no longer influenced by the Clinton politics of personal destruction.

The reason why Obama is "weathering the storm" is because this survey is among Demoncratic voters. Many, not all, but many Demoncratic voters do not like religion, they do not like guns, they do not like rural America. In other words, they agree with Obama's statement that folks are bitter so they cling to their God and guns.
For example, from over the weekend in the Swamp one of the usual Lefty Loons wrote that he/she was incredulous that there are still "neanderthals" who believe in God.

--Unfortunately for Hillary, she was up by over 16% points 2 months ago--now it's down to 6% with time to spare--not quite the "spanking" you portray. PS..John D. I'm a Democrat from rural (central PA--Montour County)...I don't hate rural america, guns, or God and there are plenty of us out there.

For a little context on the "bitter" controversy, the New York Sun reports that as Clinton attacked Obama, "reports surfaced of similar comments made by both Clintons to explain voter concerns about issues like religion, guns, and immigration. In an article on Time.com in November, for example, Mrs. Clinton was quoted as saying: 'During the 1990s, I cannot remember being asked about immigration. Why? Because the economy was working. And average Americans didn't have to go around looking for others to blame.'"

I support Barack Obama.

He spoke about truth among people who feel their voices are not heard. Don't support negativity to get your attention the real issues. Vote for chance. Obama is the voice of the people and Clinton and McCain are the voice of the lobbyist. They have been in the game much longer and are masters at it.

I DONT THINK SO!!

I think the Gallop poll has slightly more meaning than the ARG poll yesterday in that their polling has not been skewed in one direction consistently. To me this means little.
What is important is that Obama has executive skills that have been lacking in GWB. Clinton and McCain are no better.
Whatever choice one makes it should be for whom you feel will help the country the most. Vote for positive reasons not for negative ones. Voting for negative reasons is how we got George W Bush.
