MARION, Ind. - The Kokomo Tribune had four stories on its front page this morning. Three of them were about Sen. Barack Obama's visit to town Friday.
It is the latest example of the importance of local media coverage in the presidential campaign.
While national interviews like the one Obama is taping here this morning with "FOX News Sunday" are important, so are the dozens he gives to local newspapers, radio stations and television stations.
The Kokomo Tribune's coverage featured 10 photos of Obama, including shots of him playing a three-on-three basketball game Friday evening with the winners of voter registration contest sponsored by his campaign.
For the record, the fourth story on A1 was about a local judge accusing a deputy prosecutor of being strung out on drugs this week.

That is the key to Senator Obama's success, getting out his message to the voters. He will leave the non-stories and hatchet jobs to the hired guns or the Republicans, masquerading as Democrats!! When the dust settles, I do believe that the best candidate for the Party and for our country will be Senator Obama!!

I'm glad to hear it. My local paper was all Hillary, all day. I wrote an editorial it was so obvious.
Their biased coverage didn't work though: Obama won my county 60/40. Come On Hoosiers! Send Hillary Home.

I think the Trib would be better served by READING BETWEEN THE LINES of the press releases the Obama HQ puts out.
I wanna know MORE about this 'voter registration' drive. Are they playing by the rules?

This is nothing new, have you ever read the Chicago Tribune? I have noticed for a long time that Obama has the majority of coverage. If Obama wins the nomination (which I doubt at this time) there will be an avalanche of voters staying home, or moving to McCain. If she wins not so many Obama fans will be changing parties. See the polls! It's interesting that the super deligates have been quiet lately. They are waiting because they can see the tide is turning. All those that went to Obama are going to be changing their minds soon. They can change who they back, there is nothing saying they have to stay with their first thoughts.
