HARRISBURG, Pa.--The economy isn't the only thing that is intent on slowing down.
More than 50 protesters, most of them truck drivers, gathered at a truck stop outside of Harrisburg Saturday to complain about rising fuel prices. They've formed an advocacy group, Truckers and Citizens United Against Unreasonable Fuel Prices. (The anagram is TACUAUFP, which, of course, doesn't mean anything.)
Their anger was manifest. This was not a feel-good rally. Many of the speakers were veterans or part of military families. There were lots of shouts about "taking back America" and the evil of oil companies such as Exxon/Mobil. One protester held a sign that read: "When the Government Fears the People There is Liberty. When the People Fear the Government, There is Tyranny."
This was the third week in a row truckers have gathered at the Gables Truck Stop on I-81 north of Harrisburg. And last month they took their crusade to the Pennsylvania capital, which you can watch here on YouTube.
If they have their way, this is only the beginning. Organizer Mark Kirsch called on for a national "march" on Washington, D.C. on April 28, where the truckers hope to paralyze the city and bring traffic to a standstill. He also hinted, rather ominously, at a secret plan to freeze the nation's fuel shipments in their tracks in early May.
And trucker J.B. Schaffner had another idea. "What do you all say about rolling to New York City?" he roared to cheers and whistles. "How many trucks would really fit in New York City?"
In the meantime, Schaffner had a message for his fellow truckers. Slow down. Drive the minimum speed limits on highways in protest of fuel prices. He suggest 40 miles an hour.
So the next time you're stuck behind a big rig, your road rage building, you'll know the reason why.
This was obviously a terrific opportunity for candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to reach the blue collar voter, but they weren't even in Pennsylvania Saturday.
Clinton, however, seems to have the inside track with this group. Its website is filled with pictures of the New York Democrat with its members while in Harrisburg.
And if "taking back America" is truly the group's bent, they probably couldn't have picked a better spot for their protest. The gas pumped at the truck stop is from Citgo, which is owned by the Venezuelan government.

Great. Well, maybe now these guys will stop voting for the Repugnican oil party and against their own interests just to spite the gays and the 'uppity' women.

That would be acronym, not anagram. Actually, I think it's probably an initialism, since you probably wouldn't pronounce it as a word.

OK, James, and please name the gas stations that DON'T sell fuel from a foreign nation...we're waiting. Why is Venezuela primary to your statement? At least their prices are lower.

What's wrong with these truckers?
Don't they sympathize with the plutocracy running America?
The ruling class needs their $billions to maintain there dominant position in this republic.
What do the truckers think; This is a democracy? (ha ha)
Hey truckers; Get another maxed out credit card, run up a $30k equity line debt, go to Disney World, spend three times your tax 'rebate' that is in the mail, anything to support the troops and capitalism.
Complainers always finish last.
BTW, don't put gas in your diesel rig. It just don't work.
Clue; The oil companies LIKE $4 a gallon diesel. Iraq War helped accomplish this coveted goal.
More; 'Bad news is good news.' Interpretation; What's bad for you is good for the company and the ruling class.
Further note to angry truckers;
You have been voting wrong for a long time. Limp wristed liberals are actually your political friends.
This is what happens to a nation of apathetic idiots.
Have a pleasant weekend.

Realist,
Please explain why the high price of fuel is caused by the Republicans and which of the democrats proposed plans will lower the price of fuel?

YOU MIGHT BE AN IDIOT:-)
If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary’s than they had ever been before or since.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)
Best regards
jacksmith...
p.s. You Might Be An Idiot!
If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

DON'T BE DUPED !!!
Large numbers of Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses from early on. Because they feel he would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. And because they feel that a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket would be unbeatable. And also because with a Clinton and Obama ticket you are almost 100% certain to get quality, affordable universal health care very soon.
But first, all of you have to make certain that Hillary Clinton takes the democratic nomination and then the Whitehouse. NOW! is the time. THIS! is the moment you have all been working, and waiting for. You can do this America. “Carpe diem” (harvest the day).
I think Hillary Clinton see’s a beautiful world of plenty for all. She is a woman, and a mother. And it’s time America. Do this for your-selves, and your children’s future. You will have to work together on this and be aggressive, relentless, and creative. Americans face an even worse catastrophe ahead than the one you are living through now.
You see, the medical and insurance industry mostly support the republicans with the money they ripped off from you. And they don’t want you to have quality, affordable universal health care. They want to be able to continue to rip you off, and kill you and your children by continuing to deny you life saving medical care that you have already paid for. So they can continue to make more immoral profits for them-selves.
Hillary Clinton has actually won by much larger margins than the vote totals showed. And lost by much smaller vote margins than the vote totals showed. Her delegate count is actually much higher than it shows. And higher than Obama’s. She also leads in the electoral college numbers that you must win to become President in the November national election. HILLARY CLINTON IS ALREADY THE TRUE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE!
As much as 30% of Obama's primary, and caucus votes are Republicans trying to choose the weakest democratic candidate for McCain to run against. These Republicans have been gaming the caucuses where it is easier to vote cheat. This is why Obama has not been able to win the BIG! states primaries. Even with Republican vote cheating help.
Hillary Clinton has been OUT MANNED! OUT GUNNED! and OUT SPENT! 4 and 5 to 1. Yet Obama has only been able to manage a very tenuous, and questionable tie with Hillary Clinton.
If Obama is the democratic nominee for the national election in November he will be slaughtered. Because the Republican vote cheating help will suddenly evaporate. All of this vote fraud and republican manipulation has made Obama falsely look like a much stronger candidate than he really is. YOUNG PEOPLE. DON’T BE DUPED! Think about it. You have the most to lose.
The democratic party needs to fix this outrage. I suggest a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket. Everyone needs to throw all your support to Hillary Clinton NOW! So you can end this outrage against YOU the voter, and against democracy.
I think Barack Obama has a once in a life time chance to make the ultimate historic gesture for unity, and change in America by accepting Hillary Clinton’s offer as running mate. Such an act now would for ever seal Barack Obama’s place at the top of the list of Americas all time great leaders, and unifiers for all of history.
The democratic party, and the super-delegates have a decision to make. Are the democrats, and the democratic party going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee to fight for the American people. Or are the republicans going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee through vote fraud, and gaming the DEMOCRATIC party primaries, and caucuses.
Fortunately the Clinton’s have been able to hold on against this fraudulent outrage with those repeated dramatic comebacks of Hillary Clinton’s. Only the Clinton’s are that resourceful, and strong. Hillary Clinton is your NOMINEE. They are the best I have ever seen.
“This is not a game” (Hillary Clinton)
Sincerely
jacksmith...

This is an issue effecting all of us and we MUST take a stand NOW. Our government IS a major contributing factor in the outrageous price of fuel, and the struggle American citizens are experiencing making ends meet. We must take action to get their attention. All other avenues has only fallen on deaf ears - our government is ignoring the will, and needs, of the American people.
In The Last Year
(88,000 Jobs Lost)
(2 Million American Citizens Lose Their Homes)
(28 Million American Citizens Projected To Be On Food Stamp Programs)
Our government officials are eating good dinners, are living in beautiful homes, are driving brand new vehicles and are collecting large salaries...on the American Citizen's dollar. It's time to take our country back.
STAND UP, SPEAK OUT OR GO BROKE!!!

Response for C. Morris
Professional drivers have already maxed out their credit delivering your goods, and they can't afford to go to disneyland - nor do they have the time.
As for our voting...professional drivers are not the reason we have these individuals in government ignoring the will, and needs, of the people.
It's said that ignorance is bliss...I don't know what to call it in your case. If American citizens don't take a stand now, it won't be long before the greedy corporates come knocking on your door. I wonder what your opinion will be on that day?
Safe Trails and God Bless

Fred,
I was being sardonic. I have a CDL, myself. I support the truckers.
Sometimes people need bawled out.
Let's just hope it's not too late.
"What's wrong with these truckers?
Don't they sympathize with the plutocracy running America?"
This was completely ironic.

Don't look, but that strange Jacksmith guy is back. Says we should vote for Hill because she's a wife and mother. Might want to stop pasting your own posts and try writing something with a few facts.

Yes, we have outrage, but it is over more than just the price of diesel. Food banks are CLOSING. They can't afford to operate with the price of fuel. Meals on Wheels locations are CLOSING. They can't afford to deliver food. Elderly citizens are losing their homes because they had to choose between heating their homes and paying property tax.
On the road (I'm a trucker and one of those screaming idiots who stormed the capitol) the most prevalent question is, "how can this possibly help?" After all, aren't refineries running at 99%? (They're not--drivers are reporting 70%, based on reports from the refineries they deliver to). The short answer is, "fear."
Nothing instills fear into a politician quite like having to face angry constituents. And nothing says "anger" quite like 100,000 trucks laying on the air horn.
As I said before, we are used to being targets. The american trucker is willing to lead the charge, but we need the American people storming behind us.
Jump in, or learn to love the opression.

Continuing along your theme, jack,
If you don't know that Barack Obama actually has more legislative experience than Hillary, and you think that the experience of the First Lady, be it of Arkansas or the US, even comes close to experience that is necessary for being president ...
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you believe that Bill Clinton's record can be transferred to Hillary, who didn't even have the security clearance to sit in on most important meetings ... knowing that spouses can often be very different, and that while Bill was raised in a working class family, Hillary was raised as an elitist republican ...
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you believe that the woman who lost her fight for Universal Healthcare, only to give in to the insurance companies demands of including them in the decisions, and even now mandating that every citizen pay to these companies be it subsidized (tax money) or not, is somehow the person to bring us universal healthcare this time around ...
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that a woman who had made over a hundred million dollars over the last five years, and has spent her whole life, following her republican upbringing, living in the governor's mansion, then the white house, then in great wealth, can relate to the working class better than a man who worked as a civil rights attorney and a community organizer on the streets of Chicago ...
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Hillary Clinton is a person you can trust after she praised NAFTA on record, including in video taped speeches, and in her best selling book, only to bash it when it turned out to be a sore topic during the Ohio primary ... voted for the credit cap but "hoped it wouldn't pass" ... and lied about Bosnia sniper fire as well as other "first lady duties" while Bill was in office ...
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Hillary Clinton, who blindly voted for the war, following the sentiment of the crowd is better suited to face McCain on the subject and end the war than the man who came out publicly against the war when it wasn't a popular sentiment, because he had thought it through and followed good judgement rather than mass hysteria ...
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you believe that Rush Limbaugh, the voice of the extreme right, is convincing his listeners to register as a Democrat and vote for Hillary because he thinks that she will be strongest against McCain ...
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you believe that the average voter knows more about these candidates from their public personas than the most respected leaders of the Democratic party, including Kennedy, Kerry, Dodd and Richardson, who know the candidates and who all support Barack Obama ...

Demand $2 a Gallon Gas
Oil hit a new high of $120 a barrel on May 5, 2008.
The cost of making a barrel of synthetic fuel from coal is estimated to be around $55, including the sizeable infrastructure investments and the labor force necessary to operate the plant.
Petroleum poor Germany fueled WWII with synfuel from coal. It is proven technology.
America is the Saudi Arabia of coal with 1/3rd of the deposits on planet. We can eliminate dependence on foreign oil.
Reducing America’s trade imbalance, keeps money, technology and jobs here in America.
It is estimated that every billion in trade deficit equals 13,000 American jobs lost. $400 billion for oil last year: do the math.
And we can quit sending those billions to countrys that sponsor terrorism.
Synfuels are cleaner burning than gasoline and carbon sequestration can remove the CO2 hot house gases.
Visit http://governor.mt.gov/hottopics/faqsynthetic.asp
Ethanol from corn is a windfall for farmers but is it good for motorists.
After 4 months Congress is already rethinking. Unintended consequences include higher food costs for wheat, chicken, beef, pork, less grain for export, reduced gas mileage and incompatibility with older cars.
Harness your anger at the pump. Call or write your US Senators and demand a Manhattan Project to create an American synfuel industry within the decade.
If you don’t raise your voice the international companies, lobbyist and politicians will assume you are fat dumb and happy and ready to pay even more.
Call you're US Senators and demand they break ground on America's energy independence.
Kentucky is breaking ground on two synfuel plants within 90 days.

It costs from $10 to $25 per barrel to produce roughly 80% of the worlds oil.
This oil is bid up on the New York, London, and Dubai Mercantile exchanges by speculators, oil companies, and, possibly,' others interested in damaging the economy of the U.S.
It will probably get worse unless you get the U.S. Congress involved.
Yes something can be done. Think of requiring oil companies to roll back the price at the pump to make up for fraudulently pricing their own production, put a 50% tax on speculators windfall profits retroactive to Jan, 1, or talk with major oil using countries to form a buyers cartel. Pretensive actions do not work, the fight must be taken to the bullies!
