At the end of Sen. Hillary Clinton's Winston-Salem, N.C. campaign event with famed poet Maya Angelou today, the senator opened the event up to audience questions.
One woman stood up and said she supported Clinton and "felt so sorry for you when Bill had his affair and I know no one wants to talk about it." She told Clinton the best way to get over the incident "is to be president."
Clinton stared straight ahead as the woman made her comments, pausing only to reach over to get a drink from her bottled water. The woman, after hearing complaints from an unsettled audience, went on to ask Clinton who she would pick for a running mate. Clinton gave her standard answer of saying it was premature to discuss before the nomination fight ended, but the answer gave her an out to avoid dwelling on the comment about her husband.
No one in Clinton's traveling press corps could remember the affair being brought up so directly to the candidate by an audience member at any prior campaign campaign event.

This Clinton cheerleader (supporter) has no need to worry because if lightning does strike twice in the same spot and Clinton somehow does manage to lie her way all the way to the White House, I'm sure Bill will be blessed with a fresh new batch of young interns that should keep him busy and out Queen Hillary's sight while she makes the "important decisions"....like choosing what color of pantsuit to wear on Mondays etc....
Hillary Clinton - best friend of Republicans everywhere.

If Hillary really wanted to show that she is as self-assured as she wants people to believe (she's not) she would've dumped that bastard long ago.
That would show she's tough and can stand on her own 2 feet without any help from her husband.

Why is the Clinton/Lewinsky questions off limit?? Hilliary was was busy getting her experience running the country or so she says and if that is the case she needs to respond to these queries.

The Republicans couldn't ask for a better friend than the one have in Hillary Clinton.
In a year that the Repugs have no business being anywhere near the White House and in a year that they have a godawful old man Bush clone (McCain) as their nominee, Clinton decides that if she can't have the Dem nomination then she's going to just blowup the whole damn Democratic Party.
There's a saying about the Clinton's and it goes like this:
"The Clintons are always there for you, when they need you"
No truer words were ever spoken.
I almost feel sorry for all of the delusional Clinton cheerleaders out there, they really have lost touch with reality and they should seek out some psychological help as for why they feel the need to use the Clintons to cover up for their own personal shortcomings in life.

HRC just ignored it? How's that for a change?
Posted by: CC | April 18, 2008 10:27 PM
I'm glad she brought it up.
It reminds me (personally) of all the BS HRC has been through and how much she really deserves this....of her own accord, having nothing to do with her husband.
She's really *not* just that woman, baking cookings, "stickin' by her man."
I didn't vote for her actually? But I'm proud of her anyway, and if I could go back, I WOULD vote for her, asking she take back a few hiccups about Bosnia, etc.
She's a phenomenal woman. (sing it, Maya....)
She makes me proud to be a woman.

Sounds like one of those rare individuals that says what everyone else would like to say but lacks the guts to say it. And, before everybody gets upset by my candid comment, "Yes, it probably would have been more appropriate for this lady to express her personal opinion to Hillary privately rather than in front of a crowd."
Still, I have to admit that I like that lady's courage as well as her style.

I'm sorry that "We The Taxpayers" spent $50M+ investigating the Clintons, only to confirm that Bill Clinton had sexual relations with an intern.

I hope Hillary has gotten over it in ten years.
If she hasn't, I would hate to be Bill...

Any bets on how many days after Hillary loses until the divorce papers get files? Once she's "done" Bill will be free to do what he does best.

He who has no sin should cast the first stone. Get over it folks. The Clintons are only human. Stick to the issues and not personal attacks.

Was that comment from a "bitter" American who Billary can easily relate to?

Silva, give it its own post. We all know how much you love polls. "He is more open-minded" than Obama and Clinton, said Darlene Heins, 46, a Democrat from North Brunswick, N.J., who has moved from undecided to backing McCain. "He directly answers questions, which tells me he's listening." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080417/ap_on_el_pr/ap_yahoo_poll_swing_voters_7

I heard that Obama is actually going to call for a final debate tomorrow that will be held before the North Carolina/Indiana Primary. I heard he is going to call it the REAL DEAL IN CHAPEL HILL and that he will not take umbrage to any personal questions, as long as for every personal question, they in turn ask a policy question.
I heard he is even going to hand a fig leaf to Sen. Clinton and say she doesn't have to answer any personal questions and only join in on the policy questions. It sounds like a real Rocky Moment if it is true.
IS THIS TRUE SWAMP?

You People really aren't going to let this rest... I'll bet you are the ones who live soap opera lives!
What politicians do in their business isn't any of ours and no body's going to get the answers they want! So Get Over It... Lets talk what she is going to do when she gets into office

Obamaboys are "bitter" that Hillary is strong and doesn't fall .. This is the primary ... Not even the general elections ... Hillary is in politics for more than 30 years, Obama didn't really know what it is. This is the difference, which hasn't yet completed the primaries .. maybe Obamaboys "bitter" want that Hillary must yield to a man that no one really knows ... Only for his beautiful speeches can not choose, Hillary isn't perfect and neither is Obama ...
Go Hillary! You can!

Wow...I'm amazes that two people from Long Island New York think so much alike!
I'd rather the woman asked a question of substance like when will she get back to the Senate and pass a bill NOW about health care or the mortgage crisis. Why wait?
Posted by: lochnessmonster | April 19, 2008 6:52 AM
Well, that's the last time she takes unscripted questions from the audience. Next time, it's back to "How do you do it?" questions.
The bottom line here folks is that we can't elect Hillary based on our sympathy for her "misfortune." She married the dope. She reaped the benefits. And she has stayed with him because it still reaps benefits. Let's not have a "pity party" candidate.

People should get over the Monica thing. The very Republicans who called Pres. Clinton a liar on the subject were having affairs themselves. You've heard the joke: "80% of the husbands in the United States cheat and the other 20% cheat - in Europe!"
Senator Clinton's relationship with her husband is personal. It is obvious he loves her a lot and their daughter is bright and well adjusted.
Sen. Clinton is well educated, well spoken, experienced and has the stamina and determination to be President. Let's focus on the issues and not on why she didn't divorce Bill. Whose business is that, anyway?

Why is the Clinton/Lewinsky questions off limit??
It's not off limits...it's just I don't see what any of this has to do with anything. I can see why everyone wanted to make an issue when Bill was the president, but he's not anymore, and if Hillary chose to try and make it work for what ever reason that's her choice. There are "plenty" of couples who have gone through this and many stay together. This has absolutely no bearing on the race at all. The posters that say since she is running for president, she needs to talk about it, are only disingeniously concerned. Why does she need to reconcile her "private" decision to anyone? There is no issue here except for the ones who want to "make" it an issue. Again....4000K dead Americans in this war....people are losing their homes.....gas at $4.....and why she decided to stay is important? Get over it.

Could this be the beginning of another "crying" moment for Clinton? Has anyone investigated that this questioner may have been a "plant"?
I wouldn't put it past them.

Good question. Who is to be Hillary’s running mate? She has based her claim on experience, particularly her experience as First Lady. Clearly her running mate should be equally qualified.
Hillary’s duties as First Lady were ceremonial and she had no security clearance but she did have the opportunity to learn much from Bill. Of course Bill was a busy man. The only real time they would have had alone together would be in bed (and it would have had to be alone – Bill was breaking security). But hold on. Monica had the same opportunity! That makes Monica Lewinski the natural choice for VP.
Posted by: Blame | April 19, 2008 9:54 AM
Why is Jeremiah Wright an issue but Monica is off limits? Oh I forgot, in Hillary's mind, Obama's skeletons are important issues while her's should be ignored. Such a hypocrite this woman is....

I hear this garbage all the time. What would you like to Know CC? What specifically is that question that leads you to beat the drum? I want answers. I want answers. What question longs to be answered? Do you want to know what it's like to have a spouse caught in an affair...ask your neighbors..half of them can tell you...Please tell me WHAT QUESTION?
Posted by: bill r. | April 19, 2008 1:20 PM
The Lewinsky matter is perfectly relevant. He was impeached NOT because of the sexual relationship, but because he committed perjury testifying about it in a civil suit, thus denying an American citizen, (Paula Jones) her Constitutional right to a fair trial. Not only was he impeached because of his perjury, he was also DISBARRED. That is the severest sanction for a lawyer. It IS relevant because Hillary and Billyboy are pathological serial LIARS.
Remember Hillary's Bosnia story about how she had to drive the tank there with Michael Dukakis while under constant machine gun fire and heavy artillery crashing all around her ? Oh wait. I'm sorry. That's next week's version.
She said something last year. Then the opposite, this year, The question is... What about next year ???

john e - makes a perfect point - nobody who truly loves their country - NOBODY - wants bill back in the white house - even if you like him and some of his accomplishments and feel sorry for his spouse - at the most, he was a smart guy with screwed up priorities - and his current negative campaigning shows he has not learned to control himself -even if his spouse were NOT a liar, a divider, and short on experience (which she IS), it would still be bad for the country to put that self-absorbed sexual harrasser back in the limelight while our country faces so many serious problems
NOW AFTER SEEING THIS ARTICLE, I FINALLY SEE WHY SO MANY FEMALES MINDLESSLY SUPPORT HILLARY (NOT ALL OF COURSE) - NOW WE SEE THESE ARE WOMEN WHO WANT VINDICATION FOR BEING CHEATED ON BY THE MEN IN THEIR LIVES AND ARE SEEKING THAT VICARIOUSLY THROUGH HILLARY - I know this is sad, but I bet the idea is not far off base
