McCain, Bush 'identical cousins:' MoveOn: The Swamp
The Swamp

The retiring president may live to regret dancing in public as much as he has.

The Swamp

by Mark Silva and updated with RNC response.

MoveOn.org, that anti-war organization backing Sen. Barack Obama's campaign for president, rolled out a television ad today tying Sen. John McCain, the Republican Party's certain candidate, and President Bush at the lips.

""Identical cousins,'' goes the jingle in this ad, the cable television component of a Web-site campaign modeled after the Pepsi-Coke challenge -- "the Bush-McCain challenge.... .They laugh alike, they walk alike, at times they even talk alike.''

With cameo appearances by the candidate and president, pictured doing that improv Texas two-step on the steps of the White House the day that McCain came to visit.

McCain: "I don't believe we're headed into a recession.''

Bush: "I don't think we're headed to a recession.''

And, on this day when Bush is raising money for McCain behind closed doors in Phoenix, MoveOn closes with footage of the two, arm-in-arm waving at their celebratory Rose Garden appearance after McCain clinched the nomination.

"You can lose your mind,'' the singers close, "when cousins are two of a kind.''

Alex Conant, spokesman for the Republican National Committee, offered this reply: "Today, John McCain released a serious ad outlining his vision for the future of the nation. Contrast that to Barack Obama's supporters, who issued a ridiculous ad that is backward looking and belittles the seriousness of this election.

" It's clear MoveOn.org does not want this election to be about who has the experience and judgment necessary to lead us into the future.''

McCain has shown his willingness to sacrifice principle for political advantage over and over; his reformist image is belied by a long record of intimate relations with lobbyists; he has a hair-trigger temper; his personal/marital history is not especially admirable; he owns eight houses paid for with his wife's inheritances; and he makes frequent bone-headed errors that feed into the concern that he's too old. Not to mention that large portions of his own party -- and his own STATE -- outright abhor him...yep he's just like W.

Weak candidate, weaker than Dole '96.

Ouch...In the words of the "propane king" John D.....Truth hurts!

Move-on is just another extreme left organization. Obama is certainly suited well as their candidate. Move-on and the Obama group isn't any different than the extreme right wing of the Republican Party. America and Americans are better off without both!

The "jingle" appears to be the theme song from the old "Patty Duke Show". Perfect re-use of the theme . . . .

Mark Silva and the rest of the DNC Swamp writers are correct to re-run every leftie anti-GOP ad
they can.

After all, if they didn't, they might have to report on both sides. Or have to focus on their man Obama's latest lie. And they are working too hard on the New Messiah's behalf to run anything that might reflect badly on him.

The lie (so far unreported in the Swamp): as reported by CBS News, Obama used his Memorial Day speech to orate about how his "uncle" had suffered trauma after his army unit liberated the Nazi Death Camp at Auschwitz:

"Obama also spoke about his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz."

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/05/26/politics/fromtheroad/entry4127479.shtml

Trouble is, Auschwitz wasn't liberated by the U.S. Army, but rather by the Soviet Army. Auschwitz is in Poland, and the US Army never reached Poland in its drive east. On the day Auschwitz was liberated, the US Army hadn't yet crossed the Rhine River into central Germany.

Shades of Hillary's mythical Bosnian snipers.

If Clinton or McCain had said this, it would be front page news in the Swamp

The Democrats are really taking it for granted that the election will be theirs because of Anti-Bush sentiment. They have ignored two entire States and Popular Vote Primaries and have come up with the most liberal candidate that ran. Now they think that all they have to do is Shout George Bush and the election is theirs.

Hilarious.
But it isn't the Pepsi commercial that's being parodied, it's the Patty Duke Show in which the teenaged actress played two identical teenage cousins....."while Cathy adores a minuet, the Ballet Russe, and crepe suzettes, Patty love to rock and roll, a hot dog makes her lose control....but they're cousins, identical cousins..."
I'm embarrassed I can remember this, but am not too embarrassed to set the record straight.

"JOHN PRESCOTT BUSH MCCAIN SPEAKS"

The sad part about the commentator is that he is absoulutely correct!

"THE STATUS OF THE FORCES AGREEMENT" is failing or has failed.

"THE STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES" are the same.
They both could care less about the troops! They both could care less about PTSD. They both could care less about the "CONSTITUTION." They both have exposed themselves with the most "BREATHTAKING ABUSES OF THE CONSTITUTION" It's
All "BETTS" are off without "IMMUNITY, PROTECTION LIABILITY"
Both are willing to VETO America back into the "CONFEDERATE SLAVE TRADING, SECULAR AMERICA all in the name of their "Symbolic Heritage"

Now they think that all they have to do is Shout George Bush and the election is theirs.

Wingnut Andy, it's not to hard to tie McCain to Bush because they are exactly the McSame:

On Iraq ... McSame as Bush.

On the Economy ... McSame as Bush.

On Energy ... McSame as Bush.

On Healthcare ... McSame as Bush.

McCain: McSame as Bush.

Another reason why Obama is the biggest hypocrite in the business. He rails against 527 and independant organizations running attack ads but he has no problem when those groups are for him. The whole Move onorg wing of the has made me feel very unwelcome as a person that votes both parties. They are a very hateful organization.

Yeah and the swiftboating by the Repubs was in 04 was just fine, huh Vince?

At least the Dems use FACTS in their ads and other than attacking MoveOn you can't seem to come up with a single thing that isn't true about their ad...

"Jeff", the CBS story was correct about Obama's phony Auschwitz claim. The Obama campaign has already issued a statement admitting what they call a "mistake".

As to the ad, anyone who thinks Bush and McCain are "identical" should be sentenced to watch endless reruns of the Patty Duke Show.

So many of these ads are misinterpretations of the truth as they are bias and meant to reflect negatively on opposing candidates. For instance, this recent interview, with Barry Farber, speaks specifically about a moveon.org ad with McCain stating he’s ok with staying in Iraq for another hundred years. Barry says, this ad is the “dirtiest he’s ever seen” and he explains why. It’s a real eye opener if you take what McCain said in the context he meant it in. Its a great interview.
