Barack Obama says he's not ready to talk about his search for a vice presidential running mate, even as rumors are circulating that he has asked former Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson to vet candidates on his behalf.
As he left the Capitol today, Obama declined to acknowledge any role Johnson is playing, emphasizing that he hasn't officially locked down the party nomination just yet.
"I haven't hired him. He's not on retainer. I'm not paying him any money. He is a friend of mine. I know him," Obama told the AP's Ann Sanner. "I am not commenting on vice presidential matters because I have not won this nomination."
