Senate Democrats are planning to unveil legislation tomorrow to contain rising prises at the pump - and it won't include the gas tax holiday idea that has dominated the last few days of the Democratic presidential primary race.

"We are going to come up with our own proposal tomorrow which won't be Clinton or Obama's, it will be the Senate Democrats'," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told CNN's Wolf Blizter this afternoon. "It's something that will have the ability to impact prices."

The Nevada Democrat didn't divulge details, but told Blitzer the bill would not iunclude the gas tax holiday favored by Hillary Clinton and opposed by Barack Obama. Panned by economists, the idea is seen as having no chance of making it through Congress.

"You decided that's not necessarily a good idea right now?" Blitzer asked.

"It's not what we're going to do," Reid said. "We're not going to interject ourselves in the presidential election."

Thank God, a prudent decision.
We still haven't paid for those 'Bush tax cuts going into two wars' yet.
I mean really; Look at the road in front of your house.

It is great to have a stand-up guy, leading the majority party in the Senate, Senator Harry Reid. Democrats don't pander to the voters, that's another Republican trick!! PROFITS FOR THE OIL CORPORATIONS, LAST YEAR. 123 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Say Don, you like Wikepedia. Under Harry Reid

"Reid earmarked a spending bill to provide for building a bridge between Nevada and Arizona that would make land he owned more valuable. Reid called funding for construction of a bridge over the Colorado River, among other projects, 'incredibly good news for Nevada' in a news release after passage of the 2005 transportation bill. He owned 160 acres of land several miles from the proposed bridge site in Arizona. The bridge could add value to his real estate investment"

Yes, Reid is a stand up guy. His Las Vegas land deal is a beauty too. Kinda like Nancy Pelosi getting the US Govt to sell the Presidio land to her developer husband - for pennies on the dollar. Land that is considered some of the best real estate in San Francisco. Go Dems Go!!!

Support our Troops. Keep them fighting in Iraq!!!

I'd like to add one more to your list of stories!! President Bush borrows several thousand dollars, $20,000- $30,000 and buys into the Texas Rangers. Several years later, he sells his interest for $10-$15 MILLION DOLLARS!! How's that for savvy investment!! What a guy!!! Oh, by the way, feel free to enlist and join our good women and men, in uniform, in harm's way. They could use your enthusiasm and commitment!! Oh, don't tell me you're another one of those Chickenhawks, likes to start wars, but won't fight them. There is too many of those types around, especially in the Republican Party!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Don Fitzgerald is my FAVORITE poster bar-none!

Well, neither proposals will do the job. The price we all pay for gas, electricity, water, etc. does not even come close to reflecting the environmental damage it causes. Americans pay half the price for gasoline than Europeans - no wonder they don't want to improve their car technology to be more efficient and prudent with its fuel. If gas was 10x more expensive (which still wouldn't reflect its damage on the environment) I think a lot of people woudl be angry but at least the US would not be the biggest emitter of CO2 and pollution.
Of course, the simple fold don't understand this and don't quite care. All they see is how much they can fill up their insanely inefficient car and moan and groan at the prices. Maybe one day when they have to decide between buying food or gasoilne will they smarten up.
