BAYAMON, Puerto Rico -- Hillary Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee explained the former first lady's comments Friday on Robert F. Kennedy's June 1968 assassination as an innocent mention of "historical examples of the nominating contest going well into the summer."
But the mere mention in a public setting that assassination could determine the outcome of the party's nominating contest is highly awkward, as was made clear by the uproar her comments rapidly stirred.
It is all the more so because often-unspoken fears for Obama's safety are very much on the minds of many Obama supporters and party leaders.
There have been concerns over racist threats, and the Secret Service assessed the risk to his security so high that it provided Obama a detail at an unusually early stage of the campaign.
Many people who see parallels between the career trajectories of Obama and those other barrier-breaking, charismatic, youthful Democratic leaders, John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, also inevitably turn their thoughts to the Kennedy brothers' tragic endings.
Clinton, responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board in South Dakota about calls for her to quit her campaign against Obama, said, "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don't understand it."
Within a couple of hours, Clinton apologized for the reference to Kennedy's assassination.
"I was discussing the Democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns of both my husband and Sen. [Robert] Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968 and I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nomination primary contests that go into June,'' she said. "That's a historic fact.
"The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Sen. Kennedy," she added, referring to Sen. Edward Kennedy's recent diagnosis of a brain tumor. "I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever."
Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Clinton's comment was "unfortunate" and "has no place in this campaign."
The one break for Clinton may be that the entire episode took place on a Friday afternoon before a three-day holiday weekend, when much of America is vacationing and not paying attention to the news.

She's lost it. That said McCain is ten times worse. The good news for her is that she looks sane by comparison.

The Obama campaign owes Sen. Clinton an apology for trying to sabotage her campaign.
"Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Clinton's comment was 'unfortunate' and 'has no place in this campaign.'" This comment showed Burton's ruthlessness and his lack of integrity.
It was scurrilous for Burton to pervert the comment into a meaning that clearly was never intended by Sen. Clinton. It was vile demagoguery for Burton to seek to inflame people's passion against Sen. Clinton with a malicious attack and misrepresentation on her.

What a conniving WENCH!!! This brings back memories of BENAZHIR BHUTTO, FOR ONE. I hope this crazy woman will realize how the rest of the world as well will now view her. Our elections are SUPPOSED TO BE straight up in this DEMOCRACY!!! This sure won't help our image of being a fair country. (of course, that was ALREADY shattered via the current occupant of the WH.) I WILL PRAY FOR BARACK'S SAFETY AND HOPE OTHER FAIR-MINDED PEOPLE WILL TOO!!!

I don't think Hillary meant anything by it, but it was a classic example of speaking before thinking. This ends any even theoretical hope of her somehow getting the nomination, and probably any pipe dreams of a "dream ticket" of her and Obama as well.
Both Clintons suffered a little too much from diarrhea of the mouth during the campaign, which is never a good thing, but especially not against someone as well-spoken as Obama.

I agree, this is NOT news. Stupid remark, no doubt, but most obviously not intentional, despite The Machine's (successful) attempt at blowing it out of proportion.
Remember you Obama Opostles, by putting this man in the White House, you are putting the Chicago Machine in the White House; the most corrupt, filthy political organization in the history of this country.
A vote for Obama is a vote for the Outfit, and all things dirty.
I don't know how you can live with yourselves for supporting this fraud. I don't blame the naive fools outside of Chicago for drinking the Obama Kool Aid, but those of you from Chicago should know better, and SHAME on your for trying to put these criminals in power.

Is it possible, under the rules of the Democratic party, to expel a member based on public exhortation to violence against a prominent party member?
Can the Senate expel her based on public advocacy of violence toward another federal officer?
Will this person EVER be held to account for her ghastly words?

During a campaign one does not invoke an image of an Assassination of a candidate simply because some nut case may misread the intention as a signal to do harm to one's opponent.
It was a reckless and extremely dangerous remark.
My God... does something horrible have to happen for Clinton supporters to understand. I don't think it was intended... but it was WRONG... as a result she, herself, with help from no one, has made it impossible to be considered for the Vice Presidency.

I agree - this is more hyper-sensitivity from 'the precious'. Clinton was just making the argument that primaries go until June, and have done historically - why is everyone trying to tell her it's over when they haven't done that to other candidates in primaries.
Jeez. What's it going to be like if the precious runs against McCain? We're never going to hear the end of how divisive McCain is, screamed by the rank and file following the messiah. The unity pony already bit me once in 2000. I am not getting on this time.

When you sleep at night do you sleep hoping that Obama will get shot the next day so that you get your incompetent self into the white house? You are a cocktail of the worst traits seen in politician in recent times. Those Americans that continue to vote for you are a disgrace to everything that the stars and stripes stands for...

Hillary knew what she was saying, the Kennedy part was unstable Hillary and the Clinton part was liar Hillary (Bill had it wrapped up well before June). I feel sorry for her supporters who are being lied to and pandered to for money. They still can't see they have another clueless and corporate Bush on their hands. Sad

I find it incredulous that other Americans believe Mrs. Clinton's statement can be completely written off. This is Jim Crow in the twenty-first century. Perhaps even worse was Mrs. Clinton's apology, not even addressing Barack Obama or the African American community.

Once again it shows the media is for "their darling" in politics to be nominated and is trying to pushe it down everyones throat---the media is predudice against women and it is extremely obviously! They know Clinton is the best qualified among the two candidates. This is supposed to be America, a place when anyone can run for office if they meet certain qualifications. I trust and hope the people will not let the liberal media influence them and vote from digging into all the candidates' record, background, etc., and make a wise decision! Gooooo, Hillary, don't back down---you have proven you can stand the "heat" so don't get outta the "kitchen"!

Clinton's reference to RFK's assassination was not an inadvertent one-off slip of the tongue - or her tired, distracted mind. She had publicly made the same reference earlier, although it failed to attract much attention at the time. Her reference to it again would seem to reveal what she and her staff are talking about behind the scene, and because it was foremost in her mind, her haste to justify continuing her fading campaign led her to grasp desperately for a clincher. "Hey, ya never know what could go wrong!"
So, not only has she depended on the uneducated and poor as her base (hardly a comforting recommendation), she now is facing the sad fact that RFK's fate may be her only hope of nabbing her dream. And how stupid to say so, which contaminates the very possibility. Talk about ambulance chasing!

I'm not generally a fan of Hillary,BUT, this is ridiculous.
She's using examples in a time-frame of why she is not ready to drop out of the race yet. She pointed out that her husband campaigned into June, and then mentioned that RFK was shot in June, in other words, WHILE he was campaigning for the nomination. She was pointing out that the nomination process often times goes into June. She did not say anything disparaging about RFK or anyone else. It was almost a tribute to his memory that she remembers it was June.
Pretty soon everyone will have to "apologize" for everything, to the point where we will all be afraid to even speak.

This is MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING! Shame on Obama for trying to make it into something. We THOUGHT he was for a CHANGE in campaigning. Seems he's just the same - only WORSE in my book. He is NOT what those who have drank the cool-aid want to believe he is. He will suffer the consequences of that IF he should get the democratic nomination in August. I, for one... among MANY, will NOT vote for that man. NO way, NO how, NEVER!!!!
Posted by: joni | May 24, 2008 2:24 PM
This is not just a stupid remark, it is news and deserves to be examined closely. In full context she said "I remember very well 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, where some who had contested in the primaries, you know, were determined to carry their case to the convention."
As you can see she was fully aware of more recent times it went to June and thus had no reason to evoke 1968 unless she was saying something tragic could happen to hand her the nomination.
This is no longer about who you support, it's about wishing death unto someone as a means to pursue a political ambition. It is wrong and cannot be defended in anyway.

Now more than ever, it is important that Barack Obama select a woman as his running mate. If Obama finds that the latest comments by Hillary Clinton make her incompatible, there are several excellent qualified women available. The Governor of Kansas, Kathleen Sebelius is rated one of the top 10 Governors in the nation and could provide excellent political assets, not only as being the chief executive of a Western State, but the daughter of John Gilligan a highly rated former Congressman and Governor from Ohio.
New York Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney possesses considerable economic skills, as Chairperson of House of Representatives Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit and Vice Chair of the Joint Economic Committee and also serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Three highly respected Washington organizations, Project on Government Oversight (POGO), Taxpayers for Common Sense (TCS) and Friends of the Earth (FOE) praised Maloney for "legislation to commission research that would determine whether the federal government is using best practices in the collection of oil and gas royalties from companies drilling on federal and Native American lands."
Also, Maloney has authored a book titled: ""Rumors of Our Progress Have Been Greatly Exaggerated” subtitled "Why Women's Lives Aren't Getting Any Easier and How We Can Make Real Progress for Ourselves and Our Daughters." As Vice Presidential candidates, Governor Sebelius, Congresswoman Maloney and numerous other able women with government, academic and business skills might provide a fine, and perhaps necessary, complement to Barack Obama.

. It was not a historical analogy. She knows that Super Tuesday used to be in LATE March and the CA primary used to be in June. In the context of her racial appeals, allegations of extremist ties by Sen. Obama & her claims that his victory over her is due sexism by Sen. Obama the unbalanced could very well take this as an invitation. If she did this without considering its implications she is unfit to be the President whose chance remarks can have global implications. If this was purposeful & her prior conduct militates against any presumption of good faith, the implications are horrific.
Either way, she should withdraw not only from the campaign but also from public life.

Hillary is a masterful pol who knows exactly what she is saying. She clearly is thinking that one way for her to get the nomination is for Obama to be assassinated. What a horrendous thought for a person campaigning to become president and for anyone.
Such a statement can be seen by many crazies as her calling them into action for her to win. Horrendous and frightening!
Just a few days ago Hillary told her super-Ds to stay with her and not defect to Obama and she will not do anything to embarrass them. Well, just another Hillary lie! She lied about Bill's 92 campaign being settled in June -- it was settled by mid-May -- and this dangerous statement about assassination.
Hillary is unfit to be president. Actually she needs to be exited from politics altogether.
The super-Ds need to end Hillary's non-ending lies and now her dangerous statements by coming out for Obama, now. Immediately.

#1 NOTHING about Hillary Clinton is "innocent." In fact, the RFK statement (like Bosnian sniper fire) was a three-peat.
#2 It blows my mind that some of her supporters then turn around and blame this on Obama. They certainly have learned well from their leader to make excuses instead of taking responsibility.
#3 Bill Clinton did NOT wrap up his nomination in June. It was apparent well before then. Another misspeak or just further revisionist history?
The longer she runs, the more embarrassing (and bizarre) is her behavior. I am thoroughly disgusted.

I pull for the moment Hillary will admit defeat before she becomes the laughed at and out DONKEY (ass) of the democratic party. You cannot excuse her words on being tired, careless, miss-speaking etc. Miz C is ALWAYS aware of what she says and the not- so-hidden meaning therein. When her mask is eventually taken off it will be oh so interesting to see what LIES underneath.

I used to think that people went overboard in claiming that Hillary had something to do with the death of Vince Foster. Now I am not so sure. I think Hillary would do ANYTHING to become President. Even though I am a Republican, I can at least tolerate Obama. However, Hillary is a vicious, lying, old crone

It's amazing how many Clinton supporters say they will never, ever, never vote for that MAN. Well, you aren't a democrat in that case. Be happy with that other MAN, John McCain then. Grow up. Someone is going to lose and like it or not, it's Hillary Clinton. Vote for policies, not just someone's sex. It's over and her remarks prove it. She's hoping for a miracle and it isn't going to happen.

Somehow I just can't imagine the pro-Hillary crowd saying the same things if the situation were reversed and it was Obama who invoked RFK's assassination. They would be all over him and they know it. She screwed up....and all the squirming and wishing it away won't change that she has lost.
Posted by: DAC | May 24, 2008 5:28 PM
I find the Hillary apologists screeching about her mistreatment, lack of ill intent, etc,, disingenuous at best. What else could her repeated references to RFK's assassination over the past several months mean except that she means to hang around in case Obama is targeted? When we think of recent examples of close races for the nomination, we don't think of one where the insurgent candidate never made it to the convention! Just like the Bosnia story, this "historical example" was chosen to deliver a message and is similarly specious. The problem here is that she is close to advocating violence against her opponent as a route for her supporters to gain her the nomination.
Any of you who are so blinded by your loyalty to the Clintons or grief at her loss to Obama that you cannot see the truth, there is little that we in the reality-based community can do for you. There are many steps on the path to acceptance. Perhaps you should all try to get past denial and anger.
Posted by: Steve has some hope | May 24, 2008 5:29 PM
Mrs.Clintons remarks are akin to shouting I have a bomb as you are walking thru security at an airport or screaming fire on an airplane at 30,000 feet. If the American Public does not think that public leaders can evoke private thoughts of mayham remember Charles Manson and how he thought the Beatles were communicating with him thru their song "Helter Skelter" as a message to begin his carnage on Sharon Tate and others. These kinds of lapses of thinking could make the difference on a world wide stage of peace or war with countries that perhaps are not so forgiving when irreverant comments are made accidentally. She should quit public life, including her senate responsibilities, before her loose lips gets somebody killed,

I'm voting for O'Bama, but people, Hillary is NOT stupid enough to bring up the possibility of O'Bama's murder. She knows that such a comment would be a racist lightning rod. Remember, if she is to win the nomination, and the general election, she needs the support of African-Americans.
I agree with the "much ado about nothing" folks. This was just a way to illustrate a point -- that historically, Democratic nomination processes have run into the month of June. She should have said this in a more sensitive way.

Jim, I'm from Chicago (Barack Obama's neighborhood in fact) and find your characterization of my city's politics reprehensible. Chicago has a machine, certainly; one that allows Daley to get things done. And that sort of pragmatic system, particularly when linked to the deep cross-cutting alliances and patronage networks that characterize ward politics, is what has kept Chicago from turning into Detroit or St. Louis. We have our problems, but this country could use a little Chicago style politics. Much better than the ideological dredge that passes for policy at the national level these days.

Has Senator Clinton become the teflon candidate?
Specifically, she unilaterally says she will place a nuclear umbrella over the Middle East and there is no outcry and no significant discussion by the political analysts, except you and Rachel. There was no impact or reaction, guilt by association, to the video showing Governor Rendell's praising Minister Farrahkan. No reaction to The Huffington Post Article by Sam Stein quoting First Lady Clinton saying "screw them we don't owe them anything referring to The Southern White Working Class, the people whose votes she sought and got and the economic and social group that she championed against the elitist, in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky and is not seeking in Florida and Michigan(When she thought she was going to win the nomination she agreed that votes from these states would not count but now she is championing these states rights, she is a user not a self respecting fighter for the people). She consistently engages in lies and exaggerations and comes out smiling and all is forgiven. She cried in New Hamshire and the video tape became an infomercial which garnered the sympathy of enough voters to help her win. In the ABC debate she joined George and Charles and sandbagged Senator Obama. "I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me." This divisive and racists statement was printed in USA Today Thursday May 8, 2008. Maybe the American People want more of the same and she is delivering it. Since nothing stuck to her she ratcheted up her remarks today, May 23, 2008 in South Dakota. She clearly stated that she is staying in the race because you never know what can happen. As a matter of fact RFK was assassinated in June implying that the same thing could happen to Senator Obama( This is not the first time that she has raised the specter of assassination). Since her comments were widely denounced and rejected she and her surrogates are attempting to spin a web of deception by clarifying them, a weak spin at best, by explaining what she really meant. Shame on her, shame on them and shame on all of us if we let her or them spin their way out of this one which should finally stick.

A Hypothetical Speech by Vice Presidential Candidate Clinton
Thank you for welcoming me here tonight. I know that we are all proud of Barack, who has risen from humble beginnings to such heights--great heights, perilous heights. As you may know, 30% of serious accidents occur from a height of 10 feet or above.
And so we now set out together on our journey--a journey of hope, a journey of change, and yes, a journey of great demands. For the Presidency places great demands on all of those who hold the office--we have seen how amazingly quickly it can age people in the poignant photographs of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was succeeded by Harry S. Truman while still in office.
In this journey, we will put forward our shared goals--of expanded health coverage, against the unexpected and often fatal illnesses that can rob even those citizens that seem the healthiest of their ability to work, even of their lives.
Of protection against unexpected attack on our country, often aimed at those who are placed in the most critical positions to lead this nation. Of conservation of our precious energy resources, without which, even the most powerful of us can wind up stranded in a desert motorcade, without food, water, or wireless reception to contact others for help. Of greater support for culture and the arts--beginning with increased support for our very own Ford's Theatre here in Washington, DC.
Many of you will hear Barack speak later today, from a platform in Norman, Oklahoma--a humble platform, a rickety platform, a platform susceptible to Norman's notoriously strong and unexpected winds. There--god willing--he will tell you of what we hope to accomplish. He will speak of the unity that he and I wish to achieve for this nation, just as Andrew Johnson and Lincoln strove for such national unity. And he will tell you of our wish for change.
Change. An important word. None of us can know the changes that will occur in our lives. None of us can predict what momentous events, what disasters may befall us. A simple damaged left engine turbine stabilizer in a campaign plane. A frayed electrical line dangling, unseen, from a remote access satellite hookup van. A safe, falling, unexpectedly, to the sidewalk from the 8th floor of the Hotel Aldion in Norman, Oklahoma.
And so, we must dedicate ourselves, consecrate ourselves, to reach these most important national objectives today--while we still can. And like Kennedy, Garfield, McKinley, and other Presidents before him, we know that Barack will strive to achieve these goals--in the face of the awesome unknowns that lay before us all.
Thank you.

She knows what the DNC ules are about FL and MI, but she doesn't start screaming until she thinks she has something to gain. And Bill Clinton...to think I defended this piece of work in the 1990s. What a monstrosity he is. The mind boggles at what it must have been like for Chelsea to grow up in THAT household. Whatever she meant, it was poorly stated and ill-timed! However, one could speculate that since it was not the first time she made the remarks, that, in fact, they were sinister.
In that case, Hillary should be reminded of the story of Haman in the biblical account as recorded in the book of Esther!
There is a hedge of Prayer Power covering Senator Obama. The scriptures tell us not to fret because of evil doers. (Read Psalm 37).
My prayer is that the American people will seek God not only to bless America; but to help us in our quest to forge a more "Perfect Union."
Regardless of what we may think or say, there is a God who knows all, sees all and is in charge. Not this time will Americans stoop to low-level politics, fear-mongering, and evil-doing.
I applaud Obama for taking the high road in this debatable issue. May the God of righteousness and peace help Americans to think about their destiny and where they will spend eternity.
As a "Christian" nation may we display "Christ-like" behavior in all that we say and do.

The comment was honest. There is no way that the possibility of one candidate or the other being assassinated could not have been discussed in either camp. The only problem is that this is not the kind of thing for a candidate to bring up in public. It makes no difference though, as John McCain will be the next president.

_ I have to wonder if Mrs. Clinton was waiting on Obama's response to all this -- hoping on some level that if she (innocently) offered something egregious enough, that he might lose his temper, or maybe his wife would offer a few choice and heated words...instead, the Obamas necessarily took the high road.
_ There should have been an apology. Yesterday. Wasn't Mrs. Clinton married to a presidential candidate, once? Shouldn't she know, above all people, what daggers her words would be to the senator's loved ones?
_ Sometimes a situation calls for humanity - and humility - so urgently as to create an irredeemable moment. No time out - whatever the circumstances, however inadvertent the harm given, you step up. Or you don't. No Version 2.0 apology cobbled together by her campaign advisors to be emotionally delivered by the candidate tomorrow, or the next day, will redeem that moment.

I'm sure Hillary didn't mean anything by it, but it doesn't matter much what she says about the primary at this point. That race is over. Obama is only 55 delegates away from winning the nomination. He will pick up at least 30 in the last three primaries. He'll probably pick up 10-15 more superdelegates next week. It's time for Clinton to start talking about rallying around the Democratic Party nominee.

Regarding the most recent gaffe by the Clinton(s)
There's a story in the Bible, in Mark 7:1-20, in which the Pharisees and teachers of religious law go to Jesus and ask him why his deciples don't wash their hands before eating. His answer to them was that, it's not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart. When He explained what He mean't to his deciples, He said that the food you put into your body cannot defile you because food doesn't go into your heart. It only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. And then He added, It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person's heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.
Bill and Hillary Clinton have been defiling themselves for months now (ever since Hillary made the remark that as far as she knew, Barack Obama is a Christian, to what Bill said in South Carolina about Sen. Obama being the black candidate, and now this recent nomination by assination remark by Hillary on May 23, 2008) by the things they've saying.
After what Hillary said on Friday, we know exactly what is down in this woman's heart. For her to even contemplate the assination of her opponent as a strategy to get the Democratic nomination, is vile and dispicable.

Where are these gutless super delegates?
I ask again, where are these gutless super delegates?
Should I go into a Roger Morris rant and say KRYPTONITE IS BUCKLING THE KNEES OF THE DEMOCTATIC FAITHFUL? I SEE A RACE TO THE WHITE HOUSE, BLACK HOUSE, THAT'S TURNING INTO A RACE OF SKIN AND MUSCLE AND BONES OF THE ISSUES THAT ARE GOING UNSAID.
WHO SAID? THE MEDIA SAID! IT'S A RACE, BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHICH RACE TO COVER! IS IT THE RACE UNSAID, OR THE RACE THEY SAY? SHAME ON WEST VIRGINA! SHAME ON KENTUCKY! SHAME TO A CAMPAIGN THAT SAYS THEY ARE "MORE ELECTABLE." BASED ON WHAT? THE QUEEN OF HEARTS? THE ACE OF SPADES? WHAT RACE THIS CARD? SHAME, OH SHAME! GROW UP, AMERICA! I'M TIRED OF THEE! SWEET LAND OF LIBERTY, OF THEE I LYNCH! STOP PRETENDING THAT YOU'RE VOTING ON THE ISSUES. STOP PRETENDING YOU'RE OBJECTLY BASING YOUR DECISIONS. GO ON. LOOK IN THE MIRROR. LOOK DEEP INTO YOUR EYES, SOUL, THAT FABRIC OF CONSCIOUSNESS THAT SEPARATES YOU FROM THE IDIOT SITTING NEXT TO YOU ON THE METRA BARKING ON HIS CELL PHONE! THE INNER YOU. ADMIT IT. YOU'RE A RACIST. A BIGOT. YOU CAN'T SEE A BLACK MAN AS ANYONE OTHER THAN THE SHOE SHINE BOY. YESSIR! NO SIR! GANGSTA. THUG. DARK ALLEY TO BE AVOIDED. YOU DON'T SEE HIS LIFE. YOU DON'T SEE HER STRUGGLES. YOU SEE A DIFFERENCE AND IT SCARES YOU. CAN'T ADMIT IT, THOUGH. SO YOU SAY HE'S TOO LIBERAL. YOU SAY HE'S FROM OLD SCHOOL CHICAGO. YOU SAY HIS MINISTER IS DARKER THAN A BLACK HOLE. YOU SAY HE WEARS A SUIT OF BUSH COMPASSION. YOU SAY HE AIN'T A SHE. AS IF HE COULD EVER BE. YOU SAY YOU'D RATHER VOTE FOR THE WAR HERO. HERO? HE WAS SHOT DOWN AND SPENT SOME YEARS IN THE SIAGON HILTON. DUTY, YES. UNFORTUNATE, YES. HERO, NO. THAT'S WAR. THAT'S WHAT WE TRY TO AVOID. WE DON'T WANT HEROS. WE WANT ORDINARY PEOPLE LIVING ORDINARY LIVES. GET REAL, PEOPLE.
Get effin real. Let us all get behind our nominee and take care of business. Let's oust these blood sucking Republicans from office, and then hold our Democratic office holders accountable for our mandate. It's time for change.

Clinton Out Of Touch With Apology
Hillary Clinton's apology proves how she and her campaign advisors are out of touch in not realizing how far her mentioning how Robert Kennedy as a Presidential candidate was assassinated impacted Barack Obama's base of supports in Chicago. The last public statement Kennedy made before being killed was that he was on his way to Chicago, which is the current home base of Presidential candidate Obama.
Just this past week, former Republican Presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee made a joke that a loud noise that came from behind the stage where was speaking was Barack Obama ducking gunfire. Huckabee later apologized for publicly suggesting that Barack Obama could be the subject of gun fire. Despite notification to Clinton's press office from angry Obama supporters, Clinton still only offered a public acknowledgement to Senator Ted Kennedy, who himself may be facing a life threatening cancer. Chicago's 24 hour Black news/talk radio station, WVON-AM 1690 had to alter it's regular program schedule for a few hours to accommodate the overwhelming number of callers outraged over Clinton's comments.
CNN Radio News updated their reports that while Senator Clinton was apologizing to the Kennedy family for mentioning the Robert Kennedy assassination, that many national blog sites were interpreting her comments as if she still had a chance of winning because Obama could be assassinated in June!!
AND, sje never used the two most important words of 'I'm Sorry."

The problem with the defense that she was just comparing it to a long primary is that RFK's campaign in '68 didn't begin until March 16th when he announced he was entering the race. The first Primary he competed in wasn't until May 10th, thus RFK was only 4 weeks into his campaign when he was assassinated, not part of a drawn-out primary. Mrs. Clinton and Barack have been in this race for 16 months.
I'm quite sure that Hillary knows the time frames of both Bill and Bobby's campaigns, so she was either simply using comparisons that allowed her to talk about June so that she could convince the Supers to let her stay in the race that long or it was a gaffe of the Freudian nature.
This was a grave mistake on her part and puts Barack, as well as McCain, Hillary and even Bush in jeopardy. I have worked with the mentally ill for 13 years and many who suffer from delusions are very susceptible to this kind of suggestive language. The last attempted assassination of a President was against Reagan and his assailant was schizophrenic. There is no place in politics for a seasoned politician to make these kind of dangerous and incredibly offensive comments.

This should be the headlines in the paper...NOT what Hillary said. This is plain despicable and you people are offended when the Kennedy's are not? You should be offended about this!

I find it disgusting Hillary supporters with warp ways of thinking are saying Obama owes HER an apology. It was Clinton that opened her mouth. At best it was extremely tasteless. At worst her reference was diabolical and disgusting. Btw once again she is pushing a distortion. If trying to profit off of Bill's campaign she say it wasn't wrapped up til june. What she leaves out is at that time the elections weren't until much later and Bill already had it in the bag way BEFORE then. It was officially over in June but he was already the nominee before that. So for you Hillary supporters trying to "cling" to that fact let it go.
She has the right to run but that doesn't mean she has to based upon the math. And before you say it's because she's a woman everyone is forcing her I'll say this. If she was a guy it wouldn't be an issue because he would have done the logical thing based on the numbers and saw what was good for the country and instead of trying to inflict damage on the other candidate he would have yielded. So once again Hillary gets a PASS!
