Ellen Malcolm, the president of Emily's List, which has worked tirelessly to help Sen. Hillary Clinton get elected the first woman president, told her members that Clinton "laid to rest any doubts" that a woman has what it takes to run for president.

Here is her letter:

"At every turn in this long journey, Hillary Clinton has filled me with tremendous pride and honored all women with the courage, grace, and dignity of her historic campaign. Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton competed in every state, unleashing a tidal wave of enthusiasm and support. Now that the primaries have concluded, I wholeheartedly congratulate Sen. Barack Obama. He has inspired millions of Americans and shown that he is more than ready to take on Sen. John McCain.

While women still face serious hurdles in reaching the highest levels of elected office, Hillary has laid to rest any doubts about whether a woman has what it takes to run for president. She showed Americans and the world that she has the strength, intelligence, determination, and passion to handle the enormous responsibilities of the presidency, including those of commander-in-chief. Voters in every state and territory were drawn to Hillary's message of progressive change, and they turned out in force. She emerges from this campaign an even more powerful national leader. And I know she will use that power to help Democrats, including Sen. Obama, win, and to make a profound difference on issues like health care reform, energy independence, and economic policy.

I know that EMILY's List members, like all Democrats, will be unified in our determination to undo the damage created by George W. Bush and the Republicans. I am confident that our party will come together to take the White House in November. And, once again, EMILY's List will unleash the political power of women to help Democrats win at every level in 2008 so we can begin to rebuild a progressive America. EMILY's List has important work to do to help Democrats take back the White House and build working progressive majorities in the states and in the Congress. EMILY's List has endorsed more than two dozen strong women candidates for House, Senate, and governor, and dozens more running for state office. And we are executing our biggest WOMEN VOTE! project ever, to mobilize the women voters who will ensure victory for our candidates and Democrats up and down the ticket -- from the state House to the White House. Together we will build a mighty political force that will win in November."

Yes WE can!

Every last one of us!

Yes WE can!

Indeed, Sen. Clinton "has laid to rest any doubts" that a woman can be president. Sen. Clinton should be the Democratic presidential nominee. Obama did not clinch the nomination fair and square. De facto Obama surrogate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rigged the nomination for Obama.

Sen. Clinton's supporters in the swing states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and Michigan should work for Obama's defeat and vote for McCain. Obama must win atleast three of these states in November. I will volunteer and vote for McCain in a swing state.

Sen. Clinton won the primaries for all four swing states. She was the best qualified and the strongest presidential candidate to win the general election in a landslide victory hands down. This was trumped by Pelosi's rigged nomination for Obama.

The key for Obama to win in November lies with Sen. Clinton's supporters in the swing states; for Obama, that key is lost for 2008 but it opens the door to 2012 for Sen. Clinton, when she can reform a corrupt Democratic Party.

Never has the words "UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL" ever meant so much in this country.

Sorry, Emily's List. Obama's hateful supporters have turned off millions of people who might otherwise have voted for him in November. Congrats Keith, Susan, Doug E., and the rest of the haters here. As soon as misogyny becomes as unacceptable as racism in this country, I'll believe a woman can be elected President.

Sorry, I promised to vote for McCain not for Obama. Mccain treats women in a gentle manner. Hillary or McCain. You can count on it in November.

You do not undo "W. & the Republicans" by following their tactics.

It is curious to me why Al Gore did not endorse on Tuesday.

This Democrat, who voted Gore, and Kerry changed his affiliation to Independent last night.

The Kerry campaign tossed McCain around as a VP, so he can't be all that bad.

Bemused, I'm truly sorry you feel that way. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a woman president. I was perfectly happy to back Hillary as far back as last year - and the reason I do not now has nothing to do with misogyny and everything to do with her own words and her own actions that convinced me that SHE is not the right person for the job.

Has hate been voiced on this blog - yes, many times; and it is stupid and childish and petty, and it reflect poorly on those "Obama supporters" who use it. But please don't pretend that "Hillary's supporters" have been above reproach regarding the use of hate. And please don't pull this "I don't wanna play anymore if I don't get my way" argument. Why should some idiot's "Wash my shirt" remark dictate that you shouldn't vote for Obama? Are you that much of a lemming?

Respect is a two-way street. And it alway - ALWAYS - has to be earned, never blindly given. Hillary did many things during this election that made me lose respect for her as a viable candidate - not as a woman!

Please think of the bigger picture here, what is at stake with this election. If you truly want an end to misogyny and racism, why would you even consider allowing the Conservatives to continue to run this country into the ground?

"McCain treats women in a gentle manner" You must have missed the part where he divorced his first wife after she had a disfiguing auto accident and didn't tell him because he was being held as a POW and she didn't want to distress him. And he publically used a very unflatering term for his current wife Cindy. Do your homework. Or not. Your choice.

No, we are not united!

We can not trust Obama.

I doubt McCain will be ending the war very soon (sorry mothers of soldiers) and the "3rd term of W" that he's running for would guarantee 30 years of supreme court domination by conservatives (buh-bye Roe v.Wade). Locking in W's tax cuts for the wealthy that have crippled our national budget and edged out all social programs (sorry kids, sorry everyone, we're up to our ears in debt due to this misguided war that could last 100 years, per J. Mac himself.
Anyone who wanted Hillary and later votes for McCain is kidding herself. It's time to turn the ship of state around after 8 years of running it aground-- and Obama intends to do that-- with our collective involvement and help.
Obama 08-- For the People... all of us regardless of gender or race

McCain cheated on his wife. McCain doesn't believe two women should be allowed to marry. Barack's no feminist, but I think he's a better friend to women than McCain has ever been.

Sounds like a new Party forming here: Bitter Bitches for Bob Barr.

POLITICS OF REACTION
--
Voters for almost a generation, have voted against sitting Presidents, rather than FOR a new candidate.

The Kerry campaign tossed McCain around as a VP, so he can't be all that bad.

I WILL VOTE FOR McCain - and my friends will too.

The conspiracy of DNC, the superdelegates have denigrated the value of the Democratic Party. The Press has lost its credibility.

We, the vters will have our say in November. No one can stop us from doing that.

The intense hate and the revolutionary zeal displayed by the Obama cult in the blogosphere and the myopic media is scary indeed and does not bode well for the nation's future. Not unlike the sinister neocon engineered, oil wealth funded, religious right powered eight-year fiasco that has greatly degraded the national image and economic well being.

While the Osamaniacs and Ayotollunatics took to the streets to stifle dissent and quell opposition, the die hard Obamaniacs have occupied cyberspace to spew their unrefined venom against Hillary and Bill simply because they were a lasting threat to Obama's coronation. Their body language, tone, mannerism and inevitable misspeaks were dissected and wantonly distorted to demonize and vilify them. And they gleefully did this to a former President and first lady who presided over one of most prosperous and peaceful period in nation’s history while championing the cause of blacks and other minorities. To be branded as racist by the very same people who claimed them as the first “black” President and first lady is indeed an ultimate betrayal.

The Doberman and Madthews of MSNBC exemplified this neo-left demagoguery cheered on by the bourgeois elite, the misogynists, the egg heads and those seeking instant redemption and catharsis from the dark racial past by hustling and cheerleading a not-so-black couple to the portals of a very White House.

In the final analysis, it is the Obama cult that have unabashedly displayed an arrogant sense of entitlement while having the audacity to brand any critic or challenger as racist. No question the Teflon Bama will be a shoo-in to the White House. The inauguration will be a global event on HDTV – a la Charles & Diana wedding. The question is how long the honeymoon and Teflon will last. Won’t be a long wait!

Have any of you seen McCain walk around with his wife--the current one? She follows behind him like his servant! Oh yeah, McCain's REAL sensitive to women..

How can we say that she has what it takes when she has never been president? A woman for president? Sure, but Hillary Clinton? Absolutely not! She has shown the world what a desperate power driven person she is. America needs to be accepted from the world and a change is what it needs. Out with the old and in with the new. Just think if Iran had a more liberal president how the world would view that country. Well it is the same for America. Hillary Clinton is not respected. America needs to vote for change. It would be nice to view America as a peaceful country as opposed to a country instigating wars.

To those ladies that truly think McCain has a 'softer' side to women than Obama - I think you need to watch McCain have a good laugh when someone asks him, "how do we beat the Bitch?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLQGWpRVA7o
I didn't find it funny then and I don't find it funny now!
Do you really want McCain picking your Supreme Court?!?!

As an American, not just a republican or a democrat, I truly believe Obama, is the only candidate for president of the United states of America! I base this on intelligient studying of the many tough issues we all must soon face. We cannot take another 4 yrs of Republican policies and Bush ideals, which is what John McCain represents, He humself has made the statement that if need be we should remain in Iraq for up to 100 yrs, This rational is absurd, We never should have started this war in the first place, It is achieving absolutely nothing, The only positive thing that has come out of it was the elimination of Saddam Hussien, and with that said, Why are we still there, What business is it of ours, whether Iraq is Democratic or not? And pray tell, What or who gives us the right to police the world? The cost of the war is frightening, and to continue, would achieve absolutely nothing, and put us in a continuing downhill spiral of lost lives, and financial ruin. Our beautiful country is totally in chaos, besides the war, The price of gas is nearing five dollars a gallon, that in itself is more than the average American can afford, but it doesn't stop there, The high price of gas has lead to heating costs, and the cost of everything to skyrocket, as fuel costs affect our trucking industry, then is passed on to all the items they carry, daily items, such as food, and clothing, things we need just to survive, and that is not counting the items for which we enjoy, small things like travel, or even going to the theatre, and the worst part of all, At this rate there will be no middle class, just rich and poor. Health care is another crises in this country, I met a man who had his leg amputated, solely because he wasn't taking his medication, because he couldn't afford it, and that is only one of so many horror stories. The issue of social security, how can senior citizens live on what they receive a month? and what will be in social security for our children and grandchildren? Terrorists??, If we had not gone running of to war with Iraq, maybe...We could have found Bin Laden, could have dealt with Iran, which is a far more serious threat than Iraq. And then there's are relationships with other countries, such as Germany, France, Russia, China...We are almost back to being in a cold war, Even our allies, are bewildered as to why our stance on so many things, We desperately need to rebuild our diplomatic relationships, and to regain the respect that America has always deserved, and received in the past. Even when our enimies disliked us, they still respected us. I'm just touching on some of the problems we are facing, and I admit, I am afraid, afraid of what is happening, and heaven forbid , if our current path continues, What will happen? So Yes, I believe we do indeed, need change, must change, before we end up so deep, nothing or no one will be able to turn this around!!, So Yes I will vote for change, I will vote for Obama, not as a republican, nor as a democrat, but as a proud and faithful American, who truly believes Obama can turn us around.

McCain opposes everything Clinton stands for while Obama supports almost everything Clinton stands for.... seems clear why she is supporting Obama.

The only way a professed Clinton supporter could support McCain would be if they were not really a Clinton supporter. Real Clinton supporters would of course follow her leadership by supporting Obama.

Some of the people pretending to be Clinton supporters never were really supporting Clinton. The Rush Limbaugh crowd were engaged in a disruption campaign called "Operation Chaos" designed to create disunity in the Democratic Party. They are enemies of the Democratic Party, the democratic process, honest elections and basic ethics. The vast majority of real Clinton supporters will support Obama.

Personally, I believe more Republicans will vote for Obama than Democrats will vote for Mccain.

No real Democrats will want a third Bush term under McBush!

McCain is anti-Choice. How could a real Clinton supporter vote for a candidate who would appoint Supreme Court Justices opposed to Roe vs. Wade? MCain has stated he would appoint those kind of judges.

Additionally, McCain has indicated that he is ruling out running with any Republican Pro-Choice VP candidate. Supporters of women's rights have no real voice in the Republican Party.

I awakened with a sudden icy fear this morning that a people voted in another youngster to the White House. The nostalgia from a literal movement that somehow rallying around a rock star image, was the answer to CHANGE. The ache & hurt that I feel as a CLINTON SUPPORTER is from the total lack of INTELLIGENCE that depicts our democracy. This country is in the worst condition it has ever been in & our populace is consumed by race or gender. INTELLIGENCE has forever been missing in our democracy & that defines the reasons why today we are still crying about the same problems as 50 yrs ago. I vote for the person, not the party. I can only pray that some devine intervention itervenes & protects us from ourselves. HILLARY CLINTO is one in a million centuries where a woman of her caliber comes along & the country didn't have the mentality to recognize it. I'm sorry America but you've made your bed so lie in it. My vote has already been cast & that stands with HILLARY CLINTON.
Sincerely Elaine Smith
