Barack Obama raised $22 million in May, a steep drop from the $31 million he brought in the month before and his weakest fundraising month this year. Still, he bested John McCain, who raised $21 million during the month -- McCain's best fundraising month ever.
Obama reported $43 million in cash on hand at the end of May versus $32 that McCain reported in the bank at the end of the reporting period.
Over the course of the presidential campaign, Obama has raised more than $287 million. McCain has raised about $115 million. All presidential candidates were required to file financial disclosures for May with the Federal Election Commission by midnight tonight.

People who wonder why he opted out of public funds, should now have their answer ! He doesn't need the funding, unlike Senator McCain, who hasn't, at this point, had the good fortune that Senator Obama has had. He has connected with the voters and they are supporting him, financially and politically. Why are aren't the Republicans ecstatic with this development? He isn't spending public monies !! Can you believe that !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

I gave some of that.
Not to worry about the drop. Whenever Barack seems to be under attack, those contributions go right back up. Big time. A lull was perceived; a drop occurred.
If the Reps want to see the numbers go up, just rev up their swiftboats.

Barack Obama will be the first Democratic presidential nominee to raise more money than the Republican candidate. It makes sense for Barack Obama to forego public financing of his campaign.

Good news, McCain's on the rise and Obama's on the decline. The RNC's money dwarfs the DNC's, too. The race won't be decided by money, no matter how many lies Obama tells about why he's refusing the public money and letting the highest bidder buy his office.

Hmm... he underwhelming stumbled across the finish line, outspent Clinton and yet lost every big state save his own, and with the exception of Newsweek's poll... is virtually tied with John McCain.
For all the hype... once he steps away from the teleprompter... there's not much to this guy.

ornery,
Me too. And I couldn't agree more with your modus operandi and observations. Obama's worst month of fundraising it better than McCain's best month. The guy with name ID from sea-to-shining sea. The guy who's been in DC for thirty years is getting his wrinkled old behind kicked by the junior senator, with the funny name, from the great state of Illinois
I wonder how many of the rabid right who post here have put their money where their mouths are and ponied up for McFlipper? My guess is not many.

If it bleeds cash the way the Obama hype machine does, then we can kill it!
The RNC is hammering the DNC in fundraising, too. The old sow, George Soros, has too many piglets like moveon.org (they won't) suckling off him, too. This is the high water mark of the Obama hype machine.
