Smart strategy, Nothing makes a leader look weaker than rotting in prison. It's gotten a proven track record, and it works.

Of course the blood thirsty right will scream, but imprisoning him would send him off to oblivion, out of sight, out of touch and forgotten while he's still alive, rather than making him a potent symbol of strength and defiance.

I have to agree with Obama's direction with the terrorists. Make a public display of them and the murderous behavior. Also once (if can be used if you like) convicted we should not use the death penalty but let them live out their lives in a regular prison. 20 years without anyone caring about them or what happened to them is what they need. I think you would see a large change in the individuals. Seems that death for them is a victory.

Fact is, Obama's Supreme Court buddies just issued an opinion that would have allowed Goering, and every other Nazi POW from World War II, to sue in US court to be released. Obama, to his eternal discredit, has applauded this opinion. If Obama becomes president, Osama is more likely to die of old age than anything else.

Can a presidential candidate really be that ignorant, that clueless? Or more likely, he knows better, but says what he says in order to appease the extreme left wing of his own party.

Obama has also said he would nuke parts of Pakistan ( an ally) if he thought Osama was there. Obviously, this wouldn't kill him, or bin Laden would be a martyr.

Some of you people are complete morons. George Bush isn't looking for bin Laden, the US Military forces are looking. Then to suggest that we could have had him by now if we hadn't gone into Iraq is to suggest that the US Military can't "multi task". Scores of Nazi SS men escaped to Argentina following WW2. Was that Harry Truman's fault? The US Military? NO. The US Military IS looking for bin Laden and it may be a surprise to many of you Bush haters, but the US Military CAN "multi task"! They've been doing it for over 200 years.

How silly! His stated policies are to surrender Iraq to Bin Laden and to refuse to monitor terrorist phone calls. Under Obama, Bin-Laden would be just another featured speaker at Trinity Church.

I really find it odd that there are some who think Bin Laden, if captured, must be brutally murdered in public rather than tried in a court and either jailed/executed through a system of justice, while chastising those who prefer a system of justice.

These are the same people who have ignored Bin Laden since 911, because they were told to.

If the media were truly liberal or at least objectivist about national security, they would have called for Bush's impeachment when he diverted course in 2003 and ignored the greatest terrorist threat in the world, which is Bin Laden and Al Qaida. Then the media would have repeatedly called for his impeachment each year for continuing to fail in bringing justice to those that caused 911.

The Bush administration and the Republican party have failed the country with their inexcusable lack of judgment, along with the lapdog democrats who failed to challenge them, and the lapdog press that reported what they were told rather than question the obvious lies.

Fortunately, there is always a new day to correct our wrongs of the past.

We have a candidate that actually wants to address the Bin Laden issue, and a columnist that covers it. Bravo. It's about time.

Obama's comparison of Bin laden and Hitler are not the same thing. Hitler was the most notorious &hateful leader in the entire world, he killed because he was envious of the Jewish race because they were smarter, richer, and were Gods' chosen people. Bin laden has no excuse whatsoever, except the mere reason of his religion. If Obama researched history a little bit farther, he would find out that the US had a part in Hitler 's reign against the Jewish race and did nothing to stop it. Now in the 21st century America wants to conquer Bin laden because he is putting a dent in their banking system.

Obama will want to meet with Osama Tobaggen, face to face, no preconditions, to share ideas about how to make the world a better place. Right after he concludes such talks with the leader of Iran. Venezuela. Cuba.

It's astounding that Obama doesn't understand that Osama would never let himself be captured alive. Again, this shows how inexperience and naive Obama is. We can't afford to have Obama in the White House.

Just make sure he has life with NO PAROLE. Put him with Charlie Manson...you do remember him don't you? :) That would be better revenge than just killing him.

Have any of you figured out yet that the media only reports what they want you to believe. They are the tricksters, the deceivers, and the marketing machine that moves the way the public thinks, feels and reacts. Just because you read that it happened, does not make it the whole truth. People are lining up to support this guy or that guy, and have forgotten that we as a people originally sought to be a free people, devoid of such corruption.

But they arent seen. Why is every commercial, ad, etc showing a trim fit, attractive, 25-30 yr old smiling person, who by the way is usually moving forward? Psychology. Marketing is the most successful psychological operation ever perpertrated on any population. it is so effective that even ads against a product have increased awareness of that product. (cigarettes)

We have school shootings whee no one defends against the shooter and it gets constant daily media saturation, but the ones where a legally armed and trained civilian, stops the would be killer, gets a page 8 small paragraph. um... what? first of all, Hitler killed because he blamed the Jewish people for Germany's defeat in WWI and the subsequent embarassment forced upon them by the Treaty of Versailles. and because he was crazy.
Second, a blanket statement that Jewish people are smarter and richer is ludicrous and a sweeping generalization (not to mention the latter is a stereotype). Furthermore, calling them "God's chosen people" has no place in that argument, and debunks your later argument that "the mere reason of his religon," as by your logic bin Laden would believe HE is one of God's chosen people and is carrying out his just jihad (although his view of Islam is highly skewed)

Anyways, Obama's is a good stance. Martyrdom is a glorious end for jihadists, and it is without a doubt a rallying call. Rotting in a prison is humiliating and displays one's powerlessness. They won't catch him though, he could be anywhere by now (or dead w/o kidney dialysis handy on the run)
