Longtime Obama supporter Richard Fizdale adopted a nickname at a rally in Chicago two weeks ago. On his nametag, the supporter wrote "Hussein," winning a big grin from presidential hopeful Barack Hussein Obama.
The Democratic senator from Illinois has been followed by rumors that he is Muslim since his campaign began more than a year ago. But now, his fans are trying to put an end to those whispers by adopting Obama's middle name as their own. Obama is a Christian.
On Facebook pages and in comments and in chatrooms, these fans have altered their name to include 'Hussein.' This online movement, the New York Times reports, has created a group of Jews, Catholics, Hispanics, Asian and Italian Americans, who live all over the country and are united by two things: their support of Obama and their newly adopted moniker.

Sounds like the blind leading the blind.........Get real...We need substance. Not charades. BRING OUR TROOPS HOME....If the media had done their homework at the onset we wouldn't have this insanity going on...Our Country is in dire straights and soldiers are losing their lives..

why is one's superstition a political issue?

The people who rename themselves "Hussein" are more in need of psychological help than anything else. One reads of this and recalls all the people in Germany in the 1930s who named their kids "Adolph".
Purely by accident and against their wishes, the NY Times has done McCain a favor, by illustrating just how bizarre Obama's supporters are.

I think it is a great idea. What's in a name, a war !! To some Republicans, that is the case. They never saw a war, in which they couldn't make tons of money. Let's get back to the real issues, like Senator " Questionable Conduct " McCain and his Lying Machine. Stay tune, for one more cartoon, from the incompetent Republicans!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

I agree with the Dougs.

So it's ok with you critics if Obama's opposition uses the name all the time, but if his SUPPORTERS use it, there's a problem...WHAT HYPOCRACY!!!... YOU LIKE THE NAME, DON'T YOU??? YOU use it all the time!!!

We have always been ahead of our times here at the Swamp.

All this "renaming" is not going to change this fact.
McCain is the "BETTER" choice to keep the World and American safe.
The terrorist plan to kill us it is that simple. No amount of "renaming" is going to change that fact.

Our country has been heading towards socialism for over 25 years. Obama has nothing to do with the wave of things. As we can see, our capitalist society has been falling by the wayside for many, many years. Therefore, its time for a change. However, the change might not be for the better of the people: for it will control the masses in ways like never before.

RNC Bruce,
If you want to see sheep/lemming thinking, look at the 26% dead-enders who think Dubya is a good president.
And to state the flippin' obvious, we "Husseins" took on the moniker to send the message to the Jerry White's of the world that we're going to shove your garbage right back at you - with gusto.

It kind of ruins the essence of my name.

RNC Bruce,
You are one despicable human being. Comparing Obama supporters to Nazis is as vile a thing I can think of, but I know you're not done yet.

Anyone who does not adopt the middle name of "Hussein" is obviously a racist and a hyoocrite.
(And you can't be in our club)

My next door neighbor, a US citizen, is named Hussein, which, because of our ethnic and religious bigotry, and wingnut-induced fears, he avoids using. This is a shame on our nation.
I think the We Are All Hussein idea is great. I am going to start using it and will be happy to report this to my neighbor, as a sign of solidarity, not only with Barack, but with my neighbor, all Husseins, and all mid-easterners.

People use the moniker as a satirical way to point out how absolutely absurd it is to discredit Obama for having been named Barack Hussein Obama by his parents. (really, let's just all throw our brains out the window at once).
It is a satirical way of grabbing attention and saying: If you disagree with Obama's policies, please stand up and argue that intelligently and please stop talking about his middle name as if it has any bearing or substance on what is actually happening.
