Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, move over... It's the Obamas, shopping

Considering the range of questions from traveling reporters that the presidential candidates face, and the grilling of moderators on the Sunday morning talk shows, Access Hollywood arrives as a real media vacation.

Obama on Access Hollywood

The syndicated gossip show that normally trades in the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears invited the Obama family over the Fourth of July weekend for a session in Butte, Mon. Not only the junior senator from Illinois and Democratic candidate for president, as the L.A. Times' Top of the Ticket notes, but also wife Michelle and children Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.

Perhaps it's because interviewer Maria Menounos is no Tim Russert, the Ticket's Leslie Hoffecker notes. But there was no talk in this talk about troop drawdowns or recession. It was all fashion and fun.

"I'm baffled by this whole thing myself,'' the candidate said of his newfound status as a fashion icon -Versace has named a spring line after him - "because I hate to shop."
This is true, daughter Malia testifies about one shopping trip in which her father "bought three pairs of black pants and the same jacket in green, brown and black."

Michelle Obama says she keeps the romance alive in their 15-year marriage by telling her husband that she is proud of him. Sasha and Malia like it, she says, when "Mommy and Daddy hold hands."

For chrissakes, has this miserable rag turned COMPLETELY all-nObama-all-the-time? The only good thing about the Trib is that I no longer PAY to read it.

"Access, Hollywood Style"? A better headline would be "Free Publicity for Obama, Hollywood Style"

OBAMA '08....I laugh at all those who dislike this guy. Victor Hugo puts it best when he stated, "Nothing else in the world, not all the armies, is so powerful as an idea whose time has come."

He still will never be president.

What idea?!

The idea that ordinary people can be connected to the political process and that the solution to every disagreement among nations is not a cruise missile as JohnMcSame seems to think.

The idea that the government is the answer to everything and more taxes is better. By the way, what other show that Obama needs to be on? How about "Are you smarter than a 5th grader"? All Obama cares about is more free publicity.

"Ordinary people" were supposedly represented by Barack Obama in the Illinois Senate... many of them suffered in Tony Rezko's housing developments without heat but with plenty of rats. And by the way "ordinary people" paid the tax dollars that were used to build these properties which are now slated for demolition.
As for the cruise missile comment it's too silly to answer.

He's toast. Remember the last presidential candidate from Illinois with worn-out shoes?

Of course, Adlai Stevenson. So the best Obama can hope for is having an Illinois highway named after him.

So what if he and his family appeared on AH? It's just an entertanment show. You neo-cons are way too uptight this early in the election season. Oh btw, Obama's got it clinched in '08. :)

The wingnuts are just upset that after all the effort they put into the 'angry, hateful woman' meme, the public sees her as she is: a loving wife and mother. All anyone has to do is pay attention to the two daughters to realize she (and Barack) have to be doing a whole lot of things right.

For the guy who made the Victor Hugo comment. That a new idea has finally come. Well, what exactly are Obama's ideas. They seem to keep changing, depending on which way the wind blows. BTW - Obama please stop trying to copy John F. Kennedy with the sunglasses, the idea of "Change". JFK did that already in the 60's. It was called "The New Frontier".
Also, you don't look as cool as JFK did! JFK was "the man", so stop trying to copy him.
