Next week we'll be reading that on further reflection, Obama disowned Dave Chappelle, especially if Chappelle does his "I was raised by the Klan" routine. But kept the money raised.

This kind of "comedy" will become much more prevalent. We will then have the charge of "ebonic type comedy" which is low grade comedy done with only blacks in the audience which will be offered as another Obama excuse.
I also believe the Jackson gaffe was planned to elicit sympathy for Obama.

Then he goes to New York and says that his first priority will be to order the Joint Chiefs of Staff to "end this war." This naive pop star candidate doesn't know that the Joint Chiefs of Staff are not in the military change of command. They don't take orders, they dont give orders. They are advisors only. And he wants to be President? Who are we kidding? This is nothing more than a child playing dress up in adult clothes.

The public needs to see more of what Obama is all about. This is the kind of person that Obama counts among his "great friends". What do his "trashy friends" sound like? This guy is a disgrace and the fact that Obama didn't seize the moment to strongly reprimand Mac is shameful. It's almost as shamful as dragging your kids onto TV for political gain. Obama is a cancer and the thought of him getting into the White House is paralyzing. After reading these posts, I can't understand how Obama not controlling Bernie Mac or anyone else is the reason not to vote for him. Many of you condemners can't even control your own kids!

I guess you condemners will vote for McCain (McCan't). It is more important for you to have a president who has advisors who believe that people facing hard economic times are whiners. You prefer to have the amount you spend monthly to put gas in your car to cost more than the monthly car note. You want the rich fat cats to continue to drain you dry. I feel sorry for you.

We only have two people from whom we have to choose as a president. I don't care if Obama can't control some stupid statements that are made by a few people he knows. Typical Obama non-apology/dodge on a contraversial issue. I thought it was funny, although an old joke, but not appropriate for a political rally, especially as uptight and pc as people in this country are. I don't like BM's choice of language and lack of attribution to this joke he stole. It made a very strong impact on audiences when first authored by British philosopher and humorist George Bernard Shaw.

Most people know Bernie Mac through The Bernie Mac Show which is funny and 'suitable for family viewing'. Other than that, all I know about him is that he still lives on the South Side of Chicago and was pretty strict in raising his kids. So yes, I was surprised.

On the other hand...I'm reminded of Redd Foxx who also had a family-friendly TV show (Sanford and Son), one of my favorites, but apparently his stage act was pretty blue.

a person's choice of friends is her/his own business. a politician's choice of associates is a matter of pragmatism. the politician must choose those who appear to represent them publicly much more wisely than you and I (the events of the past week clearly illustrate that both delegates learned this the hard way). the comments of Bernie Mac should in no way be construed as representative of Barack Obama simply because they are of two distinctly different ways of life, the common denominator being that both see a need for this country to go down a different road than the one we've been headed for the past 8 years. Bernie draws a different crowd from the one Barack would normally draw, one that needs to hear Barack's message. That is the essense of politics, to get your message across to as broad a cross section of the public as you possibly can prior to the election. Bernie is guilty of poor judgment, Barack's team is guilty of not setting ground rules for Bernie's conduct. To err is human, however it unacceptable during a presidential campaign.

I do not see anything wrong with what he said, making jest of a particular group, gender or race is part of the fun in comedy. Am also a comedian and always make my audience understand that what I say is just to amuse them and not for them to take it serious in any way.

My support for Obama isn't waning but the reason for my support is shifting.

The alternative of John McCain is not as horrible as it would be if, say, GW were running for a third term. But McCain's approval of the GW years also smells bad.

So this is quickly dissolving into a better of two evils campaign. That might work for me, but the people who really matter aren't going to tolerate it for too much longer.

It's fascinating to see the way people react to meaningless stories like this.

A comedian introduces a politician and gets a little out of hand (like comedians don't do that as a matter of course). This is not news.
