"This is your brain,'' says a woman in the ad, holding up an egg.
"This is your brain on hope,'' says a man, holding a hatched chicken.
"Hope, it could happen to you,'' says the narrator of the ad, which the MoveOn.org Political Action Committee is airing in support of Sen. Barack Obama.
The 30-second spot is bound for Comedy Central and MTV, the organization says of a video which carried the ''funniest video'' category in MoveOn's "Obama in 30 Seconds" ad contest. It was made by and features Rider Strong, former star of "Boy Meets World." Also in the ad: Amber Benson, known as Tara Maclay on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
It's aimed at a certain market.

But I don't want to be a chicken. I want to be brave like McCain ha ha!

The Wingnuts are hoping and praying that the youth vote doesn't turn out this year, they usually "win" by suppressing the voter turnout.
I've got news for the Wingers, this fall your worst nightmares are going to come true, it's going to be the biggest voter turnout in our nations history.
Can you feel the excitement?

Um, Teresa, can you give me an example of McCains bravery? Didn't think so.

It's like a spin on the anti-drug commercials of the 90's. Considering that hope is a noun here,-like drug,--- a belief. I think it's only right for McCain to counter with another simple ad targeting the same market "Verb--it's what you do." I'd recommend Obama for the ad but I think it would be best for him to rest his hip, and he's got hope pegged as noun here anyway. Wouldn't want Flipper to flip flop on his message in it's 'refinement.'

I don't wanna be a chicen, I don't wanna be a duck so.....ha!
Scott-
Yep, being allowed to leave his catures in the war, and choosing instead to stay there with his buddies. That is beyond bravery. You may not like him but give him respect.

You forgot to mention McBush's graduating 894th out of 899 in his class and wrecking four planes...

I see the usual suspects are once again showing why the Loons on the Left are the worst mankind has to offer.
Scot, McCain was a POW, fought for this country and stayed to remain a POW to help his fellow comrades.
Course, I'm wondering when anyone on the Left has ever shown any kind of bravery. An example or two would be nice.

John D-
Max Cleland. Jim Webb. John Kerry. John Murtha. Tammy Duckworth.
What have you done to equal that, chump? Care to tell us about your sacrifices for this country? Care to tell us about your Medals for valor? No? Then just say thank you to those I named above and then keep your mouth shut.
As for Scot- Dumb statement. Disagree with McCain all you want, but don't ever claim he wasn't brave.

So, what we can hope for if Obam gets in is a chicken in our future? Kind of like a chicken in every pot and a pot on every stove, if you have a home to have a stove in.

RFB, remember when you used to pretend to be a Hillary supporter?
I do...
So what are you going to do if President Obama picks Hill as his running-mate (which could very well happen) ?
Posted by: John E | July 28, 2008 6:04 PM
RFB-IL -- The #1 reason many people don't have a "home to have a stove in" is because of our current president & his cronies. Bottom line -- the tax cuts for ONLY the rich, the trillions spent on war and the oil speculators driving up the cost of gas are the reasons so many people are struggling. Not because of the potential of having a Democrat in the Oval Office.

Obama supporter here who thinks this does more HARM in getting the white women vote (yes, we are all just a bunch of demographics, folks) for Obama.
I think if just reminds people of the thrashing Hillary took and it's not gonna help. I remember this ad from when I was a former Obama, former Edwards, Hillary supporter (again, now I'm an Obama supporter so don't trash me kids) and it was offensive then and silly now.
Obama shoulda gotten a much bigger bump outta all that effort, while McCain was meeting with 50 people here, 50 people there, with a big media event (even if they 'failed' he got press and ribbing from comedy central--just get my name right, Mr. Barnum said).
Without Hillary on the ticket, it will be a SQUEEKER and the repugs know how to steal the vote better than we know how to keep them from stealing it.

John E He could pick God and I still wouldn't vote for the lame brain. His ego is so big there isn't room on the ticket for anyone but him. That's why he hasn't picked a vp yet. Hillary was my pick for the Number One slot. Why would I vote for him just to get her on the ticket, unless you could guarantee he wouldn't serve out his term.

Suppressing the voter turn out? How do they do that Ha?
Voter turn out is typically poor among the Dem youth. It doesn't matter how pumped they appear in the news, they just don't show up. Republican Youth are known for being much more reliable here.

SouthSideD - interesting about the tax cuts for ONLY the rich.. How do you reconcile to today's NY Post which states that 48% of NY taxes are paid by the top1% of wage earners?
Posted by: John | July 30, 2008 10:29 AM
I don't get it. This is a very funny video, and it's not flattering to the 'Hopers.'
Posted by: Winger? | July 30, 2008 12:15 PM
This is to win the dumb vote. The people that vote for Obama because of this commercial are also the same people who think its trendy to like Obama.
Posted by: Will | July 30, 2008 3:07 PM
Amazing, instead of "hope" it seems from the comments many of his followers have nothing to offer than "hate". what a sad state we've fallen into.
You realize Obama himself is against a lot of the crap said here and in places in "defense" of him. Well he says he is at least.
Posted by: plutosdad | July 30, 2008 3:14 PM
The lesser of the evils is not a choice.
McCain?
Obama?
None of the above for President
Posted by: John | July 30, 2008 6:54 PM
I've seen corny ads in my time, but this takes the biscuit. We should vote for Obama because he gives us hope?
There is no evidence that he has achieved anything so I guess the ad is correct in one aspect: we hope he is competent when he gets into power
Something wrong surely: over 300 million and these two characters are the best we can come up with: a sleep walking war hero and a black with chronic hubris who has achieved very little in his life.
At least McCain I'd offer a job to in my company. Obama has such a thin resume (let me repeat hope is not a resume filler) that I would not even consider him for a position.

Scot,
McCain was a war pilot during the Vietnam War. While doing bombing runs on the North Vietnam, he was shot down and endured several years of torture in the Hanoi Hilton. I think in most peoples' minds, learning to fly a F16, or whatever, and selflessly fighting for ones' country is brave. Enduring and surviving torture is also extraordinary.
I am no McCain supporter. But I shall vote for him because Obama is a fraud who cannot speak unless he has a prepared speech or teleprompter. On YouTube, check out Obama's riff on Asthma’s suffers needing a breathalyzer to stop the affects of the ailment. At his worst, Dan Quayle was not even this stupid. After hearing this routine, I could never respect the buffoon. Change. Change in deed! Replacing one Republican idiot for a Democrat idiot! HA HA HA HA HA!
