Pew studies engagement in campaignby Katie Fretland

At a question and answer session in Michigan this week, John McCain was asked why he thinks people are less excited to vote for him than Barack Obama for president.

A new survey by the Pew Center for the People and the Press reports that 56 percent of people give Obama a grade of A or B for his performance in convincing the public to vote for him, compared to 32 percent for McCain.

McCain responded that he respects Obama and the way he has motivated people, but McCain is confident his own campaign will win.

"I am confident that, as we go through this campaign, that I will convince the majority of voters in this country that I am the person to lead this nation through very difficult times... Senator Obama didn't support the surge, wanted us to pull out, said that it would fail. I supported it when it was the toughest thing to do.

"I believe that my record on national security and keeping this country safe is there. And the American people will examine our records, and I believe that I will win."

Pew Clinton supporters who move from McCainWhile McCain faces an enthusiasm gap, Obama struggles to unite Democratic voters who supported Hillary Clinton, according to the poll. The senator from New York's supporters have gradually moved to support Obama, but significant numbers report that they might vote for McCain or are still undecided, Pew reports.

Seventeen percent of Hillary's supporters plan to vote for McCain? Wonder why this article wasn't written from that standpoint. And thanks for dissing the many millions of grandfathers who currently are adding stability and energy to businesses, government and industry. I'm sure they'll "remember in November." The presidency doesn't need a marathoner; it needs someone with proven leadership abilities and achievements that include something other than working for Calypso Louie Farrakhan.

There IS an enthusiasm gap.

Swamp journalists are enthusiastic about their man Obama, not so enthusiastic about McCain.

RNC Brucie, you've got a 24/7 cable "news" network dedicated to pushing all things Republican (Fixed News Channel) and you've got a overweight bloated rich "elitist" guy (Rush Windbag) who blabbers on and on about how "great" the Republican Party is on a 50,000 watt megaphone every single day of the week. This "liberal media" thing that you're obsessed with is just a figment of yours and Rush's pea sized brains..

The Republic Party isn't losing because of the media, you're losing because your party is void of any new idea's and has been for the last seven years.

Vee awre heere to pomp you up!

As Arnold might say.

Come to think, as he may still say.

Conan endorses Barack???
Don't be too surprised.

Hegel is succombing to the gravitational field of Supernova Barack, no?

Poll: how many Repuglicans will endorse Barack prior to Oct. 1, 08??

BO is nothing but the sizzle, no substance. The canidate of HYPE.

Math Whiz - We have Rush Limbaugh and FOX News. The left has ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, most of the print press, and Air America (does anyone listen to that manure?)

Terry, please tell me you are joking? That is the most ridiculous statement. You are a typical conservative, blame the media. Its the medias fault. No, its the fact that Obama is a much better politician that your guy old man McCain and people are sick of being lied to. I can't wait for January.

Its time the Hillary supporters stop and realize that by voting for McCain only hurts the country, If they so believed in what Hillary stood for, why simply destroy your country and your own ideals like childish actions by voting against principals of what our country stands for.

Hillary was an Idea that a woman was running, a second time in our history,

You who support Hillary time to support the party not McCain

Joey,

I was responding to whiny John E who is complaining abvout Fox NEws and Rush Limbaugh. Joey, the media bias goes way far back before Obama. Go google MSM presidential voting patterns and you will see that they vote over 80% for the democrat every time. So Joey - get some facts before you spout.

Before she announced her candidacy for the Presidency the press derided Clinton supporters as being hard core Democratic hacks.

Now they are telling us 17% of them will vote for McCain?

Obama will unite the Democrats and recruit more.

The people's desire for change will overcome even the power of the fat cats.

Obama will win between 52 and 54% of the popular vote and probably an electoral college majoriity.
