The Swamp

by Frank James

Sen. John McCain was in Denver today for one of his trade-marked town hall meetings where the audience give and take is unscripted. At least we think it is.

Anyway, McCain called on this senior citizen, then hands her the mike. The result was priceless.

Let's put it this way, the woman had a personality as loud as her big red belt.

It's clear she doesn't like taxes. This was a McCain event after all and a lot of people in that room probably felt the same way.

But likely few of them could put on a performance worthy of Broadway the way this lady did.

It was also obvious that she thinks Americans have gotten soft. At one point she accuses her countrymen of not only being paunchy but of having the constant "munchies," though I don't think she meant it in the way college students use the term.

At first, McCain looks like he's trying to figure out how to get the mike back in his hands. But he soon realized she had high entertainment value and, by the end, he jokingly was asking her to accompany him around the country. Here's hoping she takes him up on the offer. We'd love to see her again.

McCain's townhall meetings are a sham.

". . . the audience give and take is unscripted. At least we think it is."

Always snide with the Republicans, aren't you, FJ?

Priceless. Someone who realizes what's going on in this country. Where Americans used to dream of pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, now they are hoping for BHO to give them everything. But where will this everything come from? You can't raise taxes enough. And when you do, you will shut down the economy so fast it will make your head spin. Then there won't be enough taxes anyway. We have to lower taxes to keep money in the private sector and out of wasteful government bureaucracies. We have to lower corporate taxes so companies will stay and come here. Did you know the US has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world? How are you going to get business here when BHO raises rates?

And where is BHO when these meetings are going on anyway? Will he please tell us how he intends to get businesses and employers to stay in his 50% tax environment?

Good for her to stand up for many of us middle class workers in the America. We are sick of taxes, we are tired of giving money to washington and they turn around and give it to programs that are full of fraud and waste.

I will vote for anyone that will offer flat tax for the whole nation.
Equality should start with taxes

This lady is clearly not ready for the socialists' Wealth Redistribution Plan 2008. Wonder how she made her fortune. I made mine by NOT continuing to do what I was doing. Always wonder what unfair enterprise other rich folk are in engaged in.

McCain broke the 2nd rule of show bizness. He was lucky to get the mic back from this animated lady. She was smokin', kind of like an antithetical version of Trent Lott.

And where is BHO when these meetings are going on anyway? Will he please tell us how he intends to get businesses and employers to stay in his 50% tax environment?

Even your own Republican Prez candidate, John McBush, has admitted that his off shore drilling proposal is nothing more than a sham to try and rescue his failing presidential hopes.
There's not enough oil off shore or in Anwar to last more than a couple of years and that oil would go on the world market to the highest bidder anyway. The Big Oil companies that the Republicans are in bed with already have miles of offshore leases that they aren't drilling on because they know the price of drilling there isn't worth the few drops of oil that are out there.

This is typical Republic Party propaganda, they run our country in the ground by feeding on our oil dependence and killing any alternative energy exploration bills and then when we start going broke because their Big Oil pals are raping us at the gas pump they claim that everything would be fine if only the Dems would let the Big Oil companies drill some more, make more profit from us and continue our addiction to all things oil. The Republican Party is similar to a snake oil salesman/drug dealer and I can't tell you how happy it's going to make me this fall when the Repuglicans lose both houses of Congress and the White House.
Enjoy your time in the minority Repugs, you earned it!

I LOVED this. No one could scrip that.

Love the russkie accent. Was she drunk?

This crazy old woman was obviously a McCain campaign plant in the audience just like the lady who was a plant in Hillarys audience back in Iowa.

I guess you have to be a self-made millionaire (like John McCain? NOT!) to gain entry into these "open forums." McCain's people gave the bum's rush and a trespassing ticket to a librarian with a sign reading McCain=Bush today. Just more of the same Bush playbook.

John D,

Is that you?

One of the biggest programs is the Iraq war, which was started by the Republicans. Run up the credit card...it's the Republican way. Then the Dems have to raise taxes to pay for it and get painted as the villians.

Hopefully the women finds out that McCain is a bold face liar about Obama will raise her taxes and he will lower them.

McCain said he would balance the budget; however, his tax plan adds more to the dificit than Obama's plan.

Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard and now a top economic adviser to John McCain, was on MSNBC this morning. She was interviewed by Andrea Mitchell about taxes.

Mitchell came back with a direct question about her answer being deceptive to voters because she was factoring in the Bush tax cuts that are set to expire, which means people will not notice any difference. Fiorina said voters did not care about they details.

Carly Fiorina is an elitist looking down her nose at the dumb voters that could not understand the details.

Blitzer did not ask Fiorina why other McCain economic adviser disputes her balanced-budget projections

Oh drill for oil now--are you an oil executive living in the Middleast--investing in their currency and devaluing our own--ON OUR DIMES AND DOLLARS NO LESS?
When Eisenhower was prez the corporations FUNDED the government--now they steal away with the treasury and our ever higher contributions from our payroll--so don't even go there.
If you have faith in Big Oil's pronouncement--there is no hope for you.

McCain = Bush

On orders from Senator John McCain's security detail, Denver police escorted a 61-year-old woman away who was waiting in line to attend a so-called town hall meeting with McCain that was billed as open to the public.

Lies, lies, lies. What we're not being told is this event was orchastrated by Bush - Cheney - Rumsfeld - McCain as a way to derail the BHO campaign. We need to impeach these 4 Texans a soon as possible before they derail the BHO campaign.

LOL, i am very sure that was as scripted as "wrestling", the over the top show does make her worthy of Jerry Springer, and i am sure none of us like taxes, but i don't make over 250,00 thousand a year so i am pretty happy, makes sence to have those who make more pay more, actually that is a christian concept.....ohhh..wait i forgot we not a christian country...at least not when we have to really give up something

Thanks Gott for CSpan. I'm watching it now for the second time today.
It proves why Barack is right not to engage in this sort of "town meetig". The nuts were out asking long winded questions, offering to cite pages of the cong. record and one old boy even had a solution to the energy crisis which he said he would give John at the end (was it written on the back of an envelope?).
Chaotic, long winded questions which lead to answers like "Medicare is broken".

Yes, she was great there are a lot more like her all over the country that is fed up and are not going to take Obama and the Democ"rats" anymore. What out they are the ones the pollsters are missing.

ps Obama is the Neville Chamberlain of the Democ"rat"ic Party, and that is "CHANGE" for the worst.

Why do you hate America? Why do you want to see our country sink into economic oblivion? Why wouldn't we use all the tools at our command to advance the cause of freedom in this world? Those of you who think we are suddenly going to save ourselves with alternative energy are deluding yourselves or keeping some amazing energy secret to yourselves. These things are 20-30 years out by all estimates before they will be able to seriously support our energy needs. So what do we do until then? Wait until the world's oil demand is 5 million barrels greater than supply? 10 million? What do you think the price of oil will be then? We could have our own supply of natural gas within weeks. You just have to require that all energy produced in this country stay here. What's so hard about that when congress has kept us from drilling at all for 30 years?
