The trailer of Oliver Stone's film "W" has reached the internets. The movie examines George W. Bush's rise to power, from his partying days at Yale and in Texas to his becoming born-again and then his rapid ascent to Texas governor and then president of the United States.
If it is a Stone film, it promises to be controversial as the director is known for taking an extravagant view of history, as anyone who has seen such movies as "JFK," "Nixon," and "Alexander."
Here's an interview with Stone about the film from Entertainment Weekly, in which he suggests Bush's tenure was a "gonzo presidency."
The film stars Josh Brolin, who became a star in "No Country for Old Men," as George W., with James Cromwell playing Bush 41, Ellen Burstyn playing Barbara Bush and Richard Dreyfuss (!) as Dick Cheney.
The film is scheduled to be released in the fall.

More free publicity for far Left Oliver Stone's propaganda film, starring Barbara Streisand's stepson.
Left giving free pub to Even Farther Left. But what else would anyone expect from the DNC Swamp?

Federal campaign contributions records of the makers of "W":
Oliver Stone, $20,750, all to the Democrats
Josh Brolin--no recorded contributions, but his parents James Brolin and Babs Streisand have given $101,000 to Democrats
James Cromwell-$6550, all to Democrats
Ellen Burstyn--$250 to Obama
Richard Dreyfuss--$20,850, all to Democrats
Each one a contributor, dozens of contributions, every one to a Dem or a left wing group.
No chance of propaganda here. None at all....

Since the youngest among us will have to pay the most over their lives for all the BushCo excesses, I wonder whether a movie is the best way to convey the causes of their indebtedness. Maybe a video game instead?
The guy playing the Decider has feelings behind those eyes in those extreme close-ups. It would ruin the movie for me, the real W. has cold, evil, mean, little piggy eyes set too close together in his head (ditto for Darth, Rummy, and Condi). Bush looks evil, acts evil, and any time I've seen anything on TeeVee with close-ups of his face, there is nothing for feeling in his eyes 'cuz he has no conscience, no empathy.
Based on this brief trailer, I wouldn't pay good money to see the movie in a theater, nor would I pay money to buy the video or even rent it.
Once we see the behind of Georgie leaving office, I never want to see or hear him again for the rest of his life unless it's when he's arrested for perjury or murder or war crimes after he leaves office (although I'd prefer a quick impeachment immediately after election day), or the day he goes to prison for the rest of his life for his war crimes. Ditto for Darth. Ditto for the rest of those miserable, dirty, rotten, no-good, lying Neocon Republican cretins and war criminals who have brought this nation so low.

What's the matter Medill, can't take the truth?

Stone wouldn't have to reach for fiction, you couldn't make this stuff up. Casting sounds bazaar, though. Like James alludes too, Dreyfuss as Cheney? What, they couldn't get Ken Welsh? And Brolin as W? That's an even bigger stretch. Somehow I can't see Brolin with that "deer in the headlights" look." Word is, Stone is casting Thandie Newton as Condi. Sweet little Thandie as the bulldog, Rice? What we need is a casting contest for the primary characters; let the suggestions begin. Bush 1, easy, Dana Carvey.

OH, MEDILL, YOU ARE SO, WELL, MED-ILLLLLL.
(gagging there--illness makes it so).
What's wrong with our post 1947 journalism academy is they were so doggoned CHICKEN S*** and did not report how the military took over our government.
When Kennedy rebelled a wee little bit, the IMC killed him. Teddy stayed quiet so he'd have a career post chappaquiddick and the rest is our sorry history of weak-kneed liberals who run for cover when the savings account gets a wee bit low.
Thank GOD for Oliver Stone.
Hope he shows how Laura killed her ex boyfriend by t-boning him with her car in ANGER and how she was the go to gal for pot in school.
