ALBUQUERQUE - As he prepares to meet with a group of women to talk about pay disparity, Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign issued a statement on his behalf addressing the situation in Pakistan.
"President Musharraf has made the right decision to step down as President of Pakistan," Obama said. "It is in the interests of his country and the Pakistani people to end the political crisis that has immobilized the coalition government for too long. I have long said that the central terrorist threat to the United States lies in northwest Pakistan and Afghanistan, and not Iraq. US policy must focus on assuring that all elements of Pakistan's government are resolute in shutting down the safe havens for al Qaeda and the Taliban. There can be no safehaven for terrorists who threaten the American people."
The statement went on to say that a year ago he advocated a U.S. policy with Pakistan that went beyond Musharraf.
"I hope all of Pakistan's friends will now seize the opportunity created by Musharraf's exit to focus on the urgent issues of today: confronting the threat of extremist violence, dealing with food and energy shortages, and helping the Pakistani people build a stable, secure, democratic future, " Obama said.

Who writes this drivel for Obama? 78 words that said absolutely nothing new or different or enlightened. No mention of the dangers now posed in an uncertain government that possesses nuclear weapons. No mention of the dangers that Islamic extremists might take over Pakistan. No mention of the infiltration of Pakistani secret police by Osama Bin Laden's people. Shallow Hal, better known as Barry, strikes again.

I hope he tells the group of women that he's meeting with why he pays men so much more than women on his senate staff.
God, could anyone say less with more words? Did he need to fit his vocabulary words from this week into the statement or something?

Yesterday in New Orleans, John McCain spoke out against the Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act. The act, as the name implies, aims to equalize pay between men and women.
In fact, on that very same day, He also dismissed the importance of equal pay, saying that women simply need “education and training“:
next he will take away contraception.....

John McCain will issue a statement as soon as he locates Pakistan on a map. He is expect to support General Musharraf, because he supports all generals without question. McCain will stand behind his strong conviction that Democrary can only triumph when the military is in complete control of the civilian government.

jeff,
if they are on his senate staff, obama doesn't pay their salaries. American taxpayers do. If you're talking about his campaign staff, that is different.

HOW - a word obviously not in the Obama vocabulary.
Tell us what is wrong (no crystal ball needed) and tell us who made it wrong but never tell us HOW to make it right. Wait, is this his HOW??
"I hope all of Pakistan's friends will now seize the opportunity created by Musharraf's exit to focus on the urgent issues of today: confronting the threat of extremist violence, dealing with food and energy shortages, and helping the Pakistani people build a stable, secure, democratic future, " Obama said.
Darn, we missed another opportunity to get a substantive answer. No How again, maybe next time?

Absolute BS, Jackson. Obama picks who gets the higher-paying jobs in his senate office. Every senator picks his own staff. That taxpayer money funds their salary (as it does all government workers) has nothing to do with who Obama chooses to fill those positions. McCain and Clinton had more female than male staffers making six-figure salaries, while Obama had more male than female staffers making six-figure salaries.
p.s. More lies from Bill R. the Lilly Ledbetter bill was flawed legislation and would have done little to nothing to "equalize pay between men and women." What actually DOES equalize pay is paying women more. What John McCain does. http://www.cnsnews.com/Public/Content/article.aspx?RsrcID=31833

Obama has been trained to give answers the "Chicago" way - there is no answer to anything ever. These types of politicians just talk around issues, just look at Illinois and see the future of the nation - total dysfuntion where nothing gets done and all they do is point fingers at each other. This is what you will get with Obama and his buddies in the Oval. You can take them out of Cook County, but that's just geography - that type of governing goes with him because it's what he learned.

Springfield: "How" is addressed in documentation and policy statements that each candidate puts on their sites. A public statement on an occurrence is not the right place for a breakdown of "How."
There are lots of How's in both McCain and Obama's site documentation.

Jeff,
What are you saying? Obama should actively exclude qualified men so he can meet some arbitrary Jeff quota of highly paid female staff to make you happy?
