Vice President Dick Cheney got carded.
Not for drinking, but for voting.
It happened at the Teton County clerk's office yesterday in Wyoming, as reported in the L.A. Times' Countdown to Crawford, when the vice president, accompanied by his wife and a Secret Service detail, dropped in unexpectedly to cast an absentee ballot in next Tuesday's primary election.
An election worker, Mike Farady, asked the vice president for his driver's license.
"The reason is we are supposed to confirm identity with a photo ID and it also helps confirm residency and that was the easiest way to do it," Farady told the Jackson Hole News & Guide. "I know he is the vice president and I know he can vote, but I wanted to make sure he can vote here and now."
Others hanging around the clerk's office were delighted at the exchange.
"I was sitting here and saw the Secret Service come in," said fellow voter Bob Grady. "Isn't that a great thing about the United States of America that you can be filling in your ballot and the vice president comes in and votes next to you?"

If Cheney were voting next to me, I'd be looking for a quail and/or glad he didn't have a shotgun :=))

Nothing against Mr. Cheney in particular, but I hope they start patting him down and making him take off his shoes when he flies like the rest of us. Him, Bush, Obama, Hillary, and the rest. What's good for the citizens should be good enough for these guys too.

Wonder who paid for the trip? Could have used a stamp.

While great newshounding Junior Swampers. Now from the files of "you won't hear about it at the swamp: http://www.abajournal.com/weekly/lawyer_who_paid_rent_of_edwards_mistress_shocked_to_learn_of_affair
The lawyer and campaign contributor to John Edwards who paid more than $15,000 in hush money to Rielle Hunter and Andrew Young has told the American Bar Association he was "shocked" to learn the Edwards affair rumors were true. Seriously. And this man's still allowed to practice law? Also, $14,000 from Edwards' campaign fund was paid to Hunter for her video work, which consisted of 100 hours of unused videotape. Remember Edwards knows nothing about money paid to Hunter. This one gets more rich every day.

Just because he says he's Dick Cheney, how is the election worker supposed to know he's not someone disguised as Cheney lying about his identity. Come to think about it, even if he really is Cheney, his credibility isn't that great.

I like the fact that Mike Farady follows election laws to the T. We need more of him, right here in Chicago.

Kudos to the person who asked for the ID. It's the law, Wish we had election people like that in Illinois.
