There's an interesting post up on The Root about the chosen moderators for the presidential debate.
NBC's Tom Brokaw, CBS's Bob Schieffer and PBS's Jim Lehrer were selected for their vast experience and street cred, the Commission on Presidential Debates wrote. But they are all older white men. Author Michel Martin wonders whether a more diverse panel might generate a broader set of questions that reflected the interests and concerns of all kinds of Americans.
"What the commission did do, it seems, is default to thinking of older white men as institutional standard-bearers that automatically convey universality, objectivity and credibility." she writes.
"But older white men are people, too, and just like younger people, women and non-whites, they come with worldviews, prejudices, perspectives and life stories that inform their understanding of issues."

I agree. The liberal networks continue to show they are a racist bunch -- at least when it concerns who they hire and put on the air. Otherwise, they are in the bag for Obama. I guess they figure that makes up for their racism.

Maybe these guys are old enough to understand why taking away workers' privacy in the voting booth at work is wrong. I hope they will ask Obama why the privacy of their vote for or against a union should not continue to be protected by a secret ballot just like their vote for President?

Diversity? How about including people who aren't newsreaders for some tv station?
Better still, how about diversity of opinion? Include maybe a Republican or two, instead of wall-to-wall media liberals?

Age is just a number. It's the two on that panel NBC's Tom Brokaw, CBS's Bob Schieffer that are sooooo liberal and their bias in the news has lost them much respect thru the years because they are unable to balance their strong left oppinons so they can report fairly (they truely appear to have no concept).
I gave Brokaw and a chance when I heard he was temping in Meet the Press spot, but he just can't pull of BALANCE for the life of him (I stopped watching after 2nd program).
I would like to see a strong CONSERVATIVE BLACK man who does the debates (the liberal Blacks won't ask tough balanced questions), and Whites can't without racism call. PBS's Jim Lehrer does well.
All this talk of their age never came about in all the years prior (especially not in their far left leanign anchoring of our National Lib News for YEARS ha) .... AGE, is nothing more than political THIS year. It's like saying all Rich People are evil. It's ridiculous. Good and Evil is found in every money bracket. Just as good and bad monitors of these debates have nothing to do with age. Mostly unable to balance their bias with good questions that give us answers on subjects the biased ones happily omit.

Why not Kelly Wright or Lauren Green of Fox News, which has more diversity in its newscasts than any of the three networks? Let's remember that it was Bernie Shaw who asked the most salient question of Michael Dukakis that revealed his true character. What are the major networks afraid of?
