Been waiting for that heart-to-heart with Hillary Clinton?
The senator from New York and winner of several Democratic presidential primaries this year is going online at noon EDT today to speak with Web-chatters -- the invitation to her erstwhile mailing list went out yesterday, and yes, she makes some mention of the remaining debt from her shelved presidential campaign, as Don Frederick at the Top of the Ticket notes in an item about Clinton's Web-chat.
This is a nice way of keeping in touch, perhaps, but she also notes at the start of her online invitation to talk "there remains that little matter of retiring the hefty campaign debt she incurred in falling from the frontrunner's perch in the Democratic presidential race and ending up an also-ran to Barack Obama,'' Frederick notes of Clinton's chat.
Clinton offers thanks in her Web-chat invitation to those who have contributed money that helps, as she puts it, "pay the small vendors" for services rendered to her campaign. No mention, of course, of the big vendor whose bill represents a significant chunk of Clinton's debt -- consultant Mark Penn -- the Ticket notes.
Clinton, who will campiagn for Obama later this month, also briefly mentions the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee, applauding efforts to "work together" to elect him "so we will be able to fulfill the goals we care so deeply about.''

With each passing day, it becomes increasingly clear that Obama's campaign was designed with one aim in mind: defeat Hillary.
We are now two months in the general election season and he has failed to take off. Despited fawning media coverage, he has been a disappointment. It seems like this will be the Demcratic Party's third strike.

HRC continues to be a bad sport. She's doing this and keeping a live the possibility of having a roll call for herself as leverage.
Bad way to play. Also expensive.

Well, I read just this morning that Obama has not kept any of his promises to the Clintons to assist with paying off her debt even tho she has raised over $500K for him. He has not kept his promise to former President Clinton to sit down to work out how Clinton will assist with his campaign. He is just too busy assuming he has the presidency locked up and that he can take world tours, learn all about foreign policy in two days, give naive speeches, use quotes from other great presidents out of context (showing his appalling lack of understanding of world affairs) and that we will just sit back and elect him. The press is putting one over on us big time! Hope everyone wakes up before November!

Obama is tanking. He will never beat McCain. Hillary's star is rising. She is the only one who can bring victory to the democrats this November.
Go get 'em Hillary. The election is yours to win. We have your back.

The hyenas will have a board of directors meeting to consider their next move if they think a lion is faltering.
Sorry, Hillary: Barack is not faltering.
We are still in the silly season, the Indian Summer of the silly season.
Big girl stuff starts in a couple.
Too bad you won't be there. (Not.)

It's all about the money, as usual, with the Clintons.
This "bad behaviour" or waffling is just a little extortion ploy.
Do the Clintons really think Barack would be dumb enough to divert those $5 and $10 contributions to retire HER debt???
Make it easier for HER to get credit for another run in 2012.
O, My, Miss Goldwater Girl.
You must think we're really dumb.

AnneB, you summed up Obama well. He didn't keep his promises to Clinton, is full of ego and inexperience. It's time for Obama to step down and let Clinton take over. She would be a great President for we the people. Seems people are waking up to media bias and arrogance to think they can choose the candidate by slanting news coverage and as a result Obama is deflating like a helium balloon.

As an Obama supporter and donor, I would be willing to donate money to Clinton, but only on the condition that the campaign explicity guarantees that none of the money will be used to pay Mark Penn. If she made that promise (and kept it) I think she could raise a lot more money.
