Obama 'passed over' Clinton: McCain ad: The Swamp

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

DENVER - "The truth hurt, and Obama didn't like it.''

So says the narrator of the new McCain campaign ad attempting to rub some salt in the wounded sentiments of the delegates for Hillary Clinton arriving in the mile-high city.

The ad, targeting Colorado today, suggests that Barack Obama "passed over'' Clinton for his running mate because she had been too openly critical of him..

As our colleague, Andrew Malcolm, at Top of the Ticket notes, McCain's new ad about Obama "passing over'' Clinton "is aimed clearly at the 18 million disappointed Democrats who voted for her during the long primary season.''

And those Democrats arriving in Denver less than fully content with their party's ticket.

This also is the second McCain ad evoking the name of Tony Rezko, the convicted Chicago power broker who had raised money for Obama and other politicians -- the ad notes that Clinton had raised questions about Obama's conection to Rezko.

Of course, this means Clinton is still available:

Photo of McCain and Clinton from The McCain Report. See the ad transcript here:

Picturing Clinton, the ad's narrator says: "She won millions of votes... But isn't on his ticket. Why? "For speaking the truth. On his plans:''.

HILLARY CLINTON: "You never hear the specifics."

ANNOUNCER: "On the Rezko scandal:

HILLARY CLINTON: "We still don't have a lot of answers about Senator Obama."

ANNOUNCER: "On his attacks:

HILLARY CLINTON: "Senator Obama's campaign has become increasingly negative."

ANNOUNCER: "The truth hurt.

"And Obama didn't like it.

JOHN MCCAIN: "I'm John McCain and I approved this message."

I wonder who John McCain will pass over for veep?

We already know he passed over Carol McCain to get access to the beer heiress's money.

Why doesn't McCain pick HRC for the VP slot on his ticket? McCain talks like a concern troll here. BTW, has McCain discussed any viable domestic policy in any of his ads?

Can't agree-
Deep down don't think Hillary wanted to be his running mate after the wayObama treated Bill with his "trump race card"
Possible the only reason she is hanging around is get her ten million back--

Obama chose a VP running mate with excess of 30 years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, extensive political qualifications, and a formidable network of Washington contacts and world leaders. Hilary may have been a popular political choice, but even she must admit that her qualifications do not even begin to approach Biden's. Biden is brilliant, well-respected on Capital Hill, and has been both a diplomat and an academic for some thirty years. His choice of Biden is, well, unimpeachable.

GOP will stoop to any lengths to "divide and conquer" for their own personal gains (that means the wealthy people). GOP wants to fool the American people with the Perception that Barack has no experience and is an empty suit. Let's be clear, Obama Has experience, it is just not Washington experience and he also has Vision and inspiration enough to enoble men to have hope again. He offers real change and forward thinking progressive ideas and solutions to Really solve the current problems facing us today. One of Barack's strongest assets is that he is unmired by the trappings of wealth and power. All of these attributes are which makes Barack a truly great leader of men!

And to damp down this false perception that he has no experience, Barack for V.P. has chosen Joe Biden a man who is wise in foreign affairs, unlike John McCain, "who, despite the hype, doesn't seem to know as much about foreign affairs as they want us to believe!

McCain recently talked at length about problems on the "Iraq/Pakistan border" – the countries are a thousand miles apart. Asked how to deal with Darfur, he mused about "bringing pressure on the government of Somalia". Uh – it's Sudan, Senator McCain. And he keeps expressing his desire to build up US relations with Czechoslovakia, a country that hasn't existed for 15 years. "

Those of us who care deeply about the Truth need to debunk this notion that John McCain is so knowledegeable about foreign affairs, because it is another lie they want us to swallow.

Just because McCain spent five years (5) as a POW prisoner, does not make him an expert on foreign affairs, what it does make him an expert on is on how to survive as a prisoner. Let us not be fooled again, because saying its so, does not make it so. And, saying Barack Obama does not have experience, does not make it so.

Seems like as good a time as any to bring up something that I find very troubling:

Clinton supporters are willing to throw their support to McCain based on how they perceive she's been treated? What/who does that advance? (And what would she have added to the ticket other than salve for internal wounds?)

Since their policies and parties don't jibe, I just don't understand how SPITE is a basis for any political decision.

Senator Clinton is not the only United States Senator who was willing to speak the truth concerning Senator Obama's empty suit. Before his aspirations for Vice President conveniently got in the way, Joe Biden was more than willing to declare that the Emperor had no clothes on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDVUPqoowf8

Its too bad people including the media can't simply ask the questions we as a nation of voters need in order to make a sound decision. Isn't it IRONIC that a PREACHER rather than a REPORTER was able to expose Obama's unhealthy support of an INFANTICIDE bill while he served in the Illinois State Senate? Thank goodness that Pastor Rick Warren has firmly cemented the position of religion as a credible venue for presidential debates. I wonder what CNN, CBS, Newsweek, and The New York Times think about their being upstages by a PREACHER?

Those Bush-McCain Republicans are so incompetent they have to use Democratic candidates' political speeches to make their point with the voters. Come on, Republicans, be fair, do your own dirty work. Think and speak for yourselves!!! Senators Obama and Biden will present America with a fresh start, included in the fresh start will be an economic plan that includes all Americans, especially the working and middle-class, good paying jobs, reducing the gas gouging that has been going on for the last 7 1/2 years. They will make sure Social Security is solvent for the next 50-100 years and make sure the greedy ones of Wall Street don't get their mitts on it, like the greedy ones did, with mortgages !!
No, I think it will be a good, bright, sunny day, if America is sensible enough to vote for the Obama/Biden ticket, the Democratic ticket, in November.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

So McCain says that Obama can't handle the truth when Clinton criticizes him.. BUT... then also runs ads showing Biden criticizing Obama.

Someone in the McCain campaign is either really confused or just not really interested in the truth.

The reason why Obama passed Clinton for his running mate was b/c he knew should she be the one running for office not a running mate. He just lost everything though b/c of the supporter will not vote for him... especially without her being on the ticket... he would of gathered many more votes not for him but just b/c of Clinton... all I can say is that move made it official that McCain will be in office!!!! Smart move Obama....

As a life long Democrat and Clinton supporter, I don't need McCain to tell me how Obama blew it. This egotistical empty suit is also childish in the extreme and cannot stand competition. Not only will I abstain from voting for him. I will not bother to vote for any Democrats. The DNC can shove it.

McCain campaign-negative gibberish
McCain himself-war mongerer, out of touch, mentally over the hill

McCain has hit and is hitting rock bottom with his deplorable ADs. McCain is a small, shallow man who has nothing going for him except that he was a POW and he has been playing that to the hilt. He, somehow, feels being a POW qualifies him for president!! Five years shut away from the world gave him the "know-how" to be president?? There have been and continue to be thousands of POWs throughout out many wars!! JUST WHY and HOW does McCain think he is "special"? A philandering man who dipped his pen in so many inkwells while married speaks loudly of McCain's trashy values and morals. Do we need such a person at the helm of our ship? Just like he nearly destroyed an aircraft carrier, killed 135 comrades, and crashed five fighter planes, McCain will definitely crash our country into further destruction than GWB, McCain and their Republican cronies have already done. It is time to loudly say "NO" to the Republicans!! We, THE PEOPLE MUST TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!!!

It's time for everybody to grow up and stop complaining about the other side going "negative." This is poltics and it's going to get very negative on BOTH sides before this election is over.

If AZ voted for McCain for senator 4 times, dontcha think they knew/know about Carol? Isn't it time to give that a rest people?

Ah, the old 'divide and conquer' strategy. Sorry, won't work with many of us. I was a strong HRC supporter, until she asked us to help elect Senator Obama the next President of the United States. I intend to do just that, and trust that I am not alone in that decision. Another pathetic Karl Rove-style tactic from He Who Must Not Be President.

As a new member of PUMA - Party Unity My A**... I have to agree with this ad. I don't know much about Joe Biden, all I know is that Hillary should have been the choice simply because of the primary process and those of us who continue to support her to this day. I'm willing to have a Republician in office another 4 years just to have Hillary take office in 2012. Think what you want, but I just don't trust Obama and this move makes me dislike him.

The republicans are in so much trouble they are tyring to make a movie about Obama's teen years. http://www.theobamaplan.com

Maross, you not voting for anyone at all is exactly WHY McCain made this commercial. It benefits him! If you stay home at the polls, and McCain wins then YOU have no one to blame but yourself my friend. For Pete's sake , you're entitled to your opinion that Hillary may have made a better Pres, but as a lifelong Democrat it's time for you to get over the Bitterness and realize your attitude is only serving the Republicans to elect BUSH III.

it's amazing that obama supporters will forgive obama because of his lack of real experience because he is a 'visionary, great leader'....but what has he led? what vision has he had? hope and change isn't leadership or vision, it's empty platitudes. and the american people are seeing this, and responding with his constant downtrend in polling. he may pull dukakis #'s if he's lucky.

If McCain is willing to embarrass a "friend" like Hillary like this, what does that say about his character?

So Hillary Clinton did not win, and you're angry and hurt and disappointed so you're going to pout? What sort of impression do you suppose that makes?

Marross- it was the VOTERS in the primary and HRC's own agreement as to not count the votes in MI and FL that curtailed her bid. Why the harshness toward the DNC? The Clinton left overs, those that will cut off their noses to spite their faces, are angry at other American Voters in the primary. Clinton supporters seem to think their votes and hopes are/were more important than those of other Americans. My favorite candidate did not make it either, but I'll most likely vote. I'll find some plank to like and go for it. I will not vote for anything remotely reminiscent of the lies, killing and bankruptcy of the last 8 years.

This ad is such a pandering mess that only appeals to Clinton supporters who would like to see the Democrats lose out of spite to Obama. It is a weak attack at best and is only tailored to bitter voters who won't even listen to the former candidate they supported and her advice to unify the party.

Then I guess it's no loss to the Dem Party. Your post illustrates what a harmful candidate Hillary was for the party and the country. Obama was my choice as early as the 2004 Convention speech. I had serious issues with Hillary being 'corporate owned', and getting into office because of her husband's name. Making the office of POTUS a family dynasty seemed very disturbing.

However, I would have voted for her, if she had prevailed. But, she selfishly continued to campaign and rack up millions in debt. That doesn't sound like good sense for a potential leader. I hope you will reconsider your position based less on emotion and more on the work that needs to happen to repair the damage done to this country over the past 7 1/2 years. It's not going to be fun or easy, but Obama has demonstrate that he has the leadership qualities and talents that could get ALL involved in a positive way.

Any Clinton supporter that votes for McCain instead of Obama either didn't understand Clinton's political agenda or would like to undermine it. The reality is that Clinton and Obama had almost identical policy ideas. If Clinton were the candidate McCain would be spewing mud and dirt at her. Clinton supporters need to figure out why they supported Clinton. Was it her personality or her ideas? If it was her ideas then Obama should be their logical vote for president. If it was her personality then your criteria needs some amending.

If McCain is willing to embarrass a "friend" like Hillary like this, what does that say about his CHARACTER?

My, my, my..

Seems to me there is a lot of pain and anguish over Biden as a choice for VP.

As a Republican who has despised Hillary Clinton, I personally feel that the manner in which she was treated by Obama is beyond reprehensible. I understand Obama's reluctance to work with her but to not have given her the courtesy of a formal vetting is very rude. (Various sources including her former press secretary have stated that no papers or documents were requested and, indeed, not even formal contact was made by Obama's people.)

That, to me, seems downright disrespectful and supremely shortsighted, considering the intensity of Ms Clinton's supporters.

Barak Obama is a zero, a cypher, a vapid, empty suit bereft of any substance and a product of Chicago machine politics. He has selected an equally empty gas bag for a running mate and yet, with an adoring, left-leaning press and an "American Idol" American public, they may get elected.

But I doubt his incompetence as a leader and a statesman (instead of a politician) will be tolerated by the public much past the first year of his presidency. He will flail and fail (even with Democrat control of the government), the economy will stall, and we will become a trod-upon laughing stock to powers such as China and Iran.

He will, in effect, be the second coming of that consummate paragon of ineptitude, Jimmah Carter.

If Hillacrats can't see through the McBush sleaze, then we'll have 4 more years of complete stagnation, and we'll have to hope that "Angry John" won't get us hip-deep in some foreign excursion just because he doesn't know how/where to focus on ALL OF the Current problems here at home. I understand that there are those that wanted Hillary, but that time is gone. So now it's 4 more years of Bush, or a shot at something different.

As a Hillary supporter, I would have preferred that the ad be more hard hitting. McCain already has my vote, but nice job, McCain ad people.

This ad on Hillary refers to the felo Rezko. Why isn't the Tribune reporting on the Michelle Obama/Rezko connection about the alleged University of Chicago hospital scheme to keep poor blacks out of the hospital and the hospital emergency room? Why do we have to read this in the Drudge Report and Sun Times?
Both Obamas and Rezko seem to have deeper and deeper ties, not just his helping them buy their house and property.

Obama supporters are so ridiculous. If they think Biden's 30 years experiences are so important, then they should vote for McCain instead because he not only has the same amount of experiences and more, he's valiantly served this country and wouldn't kowtow to the Europeans and the rogue nations. Biden's experiences are those of defeatism and blame-Ameica- first.

John McCain is the best, and I love Hillary and wish Obama would have not been so terrible to her. I gladly support McCain and hope there is a spot for Hillary in the McCain cabinet.

As a former Hillary supporter I thorougly enjoyed the ad as well. I'll happliy take my seat on the Straight Talk Express.

I'm a moderate from Chicago and I've seen nothing from Barack Obama that makes him remotely qualified to be President of the United States.

The McCain people need to come to the Windy City and find the sleeze. There is plenty of it.

President McCain has a glorious sound to it.

If you recall, Obama and Hillary met first -- before any other person was considered for VP. Hillary did not want to be vetted because it would require sifting through connections to Bill. So please stop the misrepresentations, and Clinton supporters -- get on board already.

If you don't, we'll have to dig out the old bumper stickers: "Four More Wars!" "Drop McCain Not Bombs."

MCCAIN & HILLARY TICKET - MCCAIN'S NEW AD

I want whoever will be the best president.
I am a female, so I certainly have nothing
against a woman being president, but
I won't vote for a woman JUST because
she's a woman. I also have nothing against
a person being older, since I am over 50.
And I have nothing against having a black
president, eventhough I am white.
I simply want the BEST president.
My vote is for Senators Obama & Biden.

In John McCain's new ad, which can be viewed at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8Ta8IZ9sa0
McCain states that Hillary won millions of votes.
Hillary did win a good portion of democrats' votes.
If McCain is sincere, and genuinly belives Hillary
would be the best vice president (as his ad suggests),
maybe McCain will "reach across the isle" and ask
Hillary to join him on his ticket. That would mean
McCain would have all the republican votes, and
also a good portion of the democrat votes.
It seems like McCain would be smart to select Hillary.

On the other hand, if McCain is just USING Hillary
for his own personal agenda in a mud-slinging campaine,
then shame on McCain for using Hillary, or for using any
woman with so little regard, to satisfy his own desires.
If McCain is not for responsible change, is not willing
to reach across the isle to work with both republicans
and democrates, and if his belief in Hillary as a good
VP candidate, are all lies, then why on earth would any
woman who respects Hillary Clinton support McCain??

We'll have to wait till John McCain announces his
running mate to see just how genuine he is, or if
he is simply using Hillary to further himself.
See McCain speaking to the press:

What Angellight said. Couldn't have put it better myself. Fellow Dems, it's time to pull together and not fall for the sleazy tricks of the Repubs who are trying to tear us apart!

Do you really want four more years of the same ineptitude? Or do you want to place your bet on taking the country in a different, more positive direction?
I'm voting for Obama, and proud to do so.

"I just don't understand how SPITE is a basis for any political decision."

True. But I don't understand how "Hope" is a viable strategy either.

But, as long as folks are voting based on emotion, "spite" is just as reasonable as "hope."

I find it deeply troubling that so many HRC supporters are pouting and whinning that their candidate isn't getting the nomination. Boo hoo. That's life and that's politics. But those of you who would seriously vote for McCain simply because he isn't Obama are truly out of touch. Take a good look at his voting record on women's rights, support of our troops, tax cuts for the rich -- and rich only. If you honestly can't see that a vote for McCain is a vote for 4 more years of the same Bush policies, and more rights being removed from normal, honest citizens, then do us all a favor and just stay home on election day. Voting for the opposite of what your chosen candidate stood for is petty and childish.

Derrick -- two words: Keating Five. Do a little research on your own candidate before you throw out this weak Tony Rezko issue. The Keating Five scandal did major damage to the country. And your boy McCain was right in the middle of it.

As a veteran on the front lines of the 1960's feminist movement, I am ashamed--ashamed!--of how some women are acting about Hilary Clinton's primary loss. We should be proud of what she accomplished, not vindictive over the result. If you have any hopes of having a female President in the forseeable future, you had better get over it. Stop acting like little girls who've had their candy taken away. A vote for Obama now is a vote for everything Hilary stands for. Are you willing to sit out the election or vote for McCain, knowing that a Republican President may very well have the chance to fill three slots on the Supreme Court with justices that will undo everything we've fought for in women's rights? You are not doing Senator Clinton any favors by acting out like this. Instead, she is coming to be seen as a divider (not good for her political future) and YOU are being seen as sulking little girls, no as women of substance, and setting the women's movement back as well. Even Emily's List is supporting Obama. It's time to look in the mirror, ladies. Is your personal fit of pique more important than all that we could lose?

The ad worked for me. I'm still upset over how the Obama campaign treated Clinton supporters.
The media will be clamoring for any dissent among the Clinton delegates. But in reality, the dissent lies with the millions of voters who supported her in the primaries.

Ah, the deep thinking PUMAs...You just don't get it ..do ya? I've joined the DLDHY....Don't Let the Door Hit Ya. If by some chance we lose this year and Hillary runs in 2012...don't look for the democrats to support ya. The INF...I'll never forget...croud will turn the other way.

Seems like one in five democrats have decided to not vote for this empty suit because of his failure to pick Hillary, though it be for the wrong reason I'll take it.And along with it the election.

Quote: "McCain campaign-negative gibberish"

Remember that the sting lies in its truth. You and Obama should remember what Harry Truman said, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen." There's another Trumanism that Obama should also take to heart whenever he feels inclined to throw one of his supporters under the bus, "The buck stops here." He's always long on excuses.

Says it all...the party will be sorry

The PUMAs are no longer Hillary supporters if they go against Hillary's wishes that they vote for Obama. They now should be called Lieberman Democrats. They should also consider that if they help elect McCain, they should not assume that the Democratic party will nominate Hillary in 2012. Fortunately, I think their bark is worse than their bite (being a feiminist sympathizer, I do not suggest that they are dogs).

Conservatives and their comments about Obama, based on lies and insults are embarrasing. No wonder the rest of the wordl despises us. I don't know if like Obama. But there is zero chance of my voting for a party that runs the dirtiest campaigns and has morons for backers- the Republican party.

"This egotistical empty suit is also childish in the extreme and cannot stand competition."

I really enjoy how this is immediately followed by the political equivalent of "I'm going home and starting my own club!"

"If AZ voted for McCain for senator 4 times, dontcha think they knew/know about Carol? Isn't it time to give that a rest people?"

It's not like AK didn't know about the Bridge to Nowhere or the Series of Tubes, either. And yet...

"He will flail and fail (even with Democrat control of the government), the economy will stall, and we will become a trod-upon laughing stock to powers such as China and Iran."

Oh. Of course. That must be as opposed to the myriad of positive political accomplishments, booming economy, and unparalleled foreign policy leverage that we possess right now.

"Why isn't the Tribune reporting on the Michelle Obama/Rezko connection...? Why do we have to read this in the Drudge Report...?"

Because professional media tries to maintain what's usually referred to as a high standard of journalistic integrity.

Yes, anything, to keep that empty suit Obama from being our next Commander-IniChief!

Nice of John McCain to offer Democrats such sage advice. I guess he is only going to choose from among those losing Republican candidates? So no Rice, no Powell, no Petreus? (Not that any one of them would take the job or help the ticket.)

Which is it going to be: Huckabee? Romney? Thompson? Ron Paul? And if it isn't one of them, then we get to claim that McCain is disregarding the wishes of the electorate, right?

This is a very silly way to run a campaign or choose a running mate. And anyone who falls for it, PUMA or DINO or Lieberman or troll, is even sillier.

18 million of us. just plain average Americans waited in long cold lines to vote for HRC and Obama.. We did not vote for JOE WHO? Remember he quit early??? I think Obama has slapped us in the face for not at least vetting HRC... What kind of person can he be? NOT MY PRESIDENT!!!!

It seems to me that Obama did not pick Hillary because of one or all of the following 1) resentment 2) afraid of her power 3) afraid of Bill's power. 4) thought it was too much diversity on the ticket. Saying it was because they weren't on the same page is a lie. They were as close as he is with Biden on policy. So, if he doesn't put her on the ticket because of childish resentment or because he can't handle her or Bill Clinton, is he the right dude to lead the nation? And how can a minority not choose another minority? I'm just not impressed. A gutsy move would have been Hillary. And, I contributed to Hillary but will vote McCain because of his horrendous voting record on abortion.

I am a democrat in his thirties who supported Hillary in the primaries. I like this ad from McCain. The way Hillary was and is being treated by Obama campaign is not forgivable. The DNC deserves to lose this election for putting this nobody Obama in front of American people as a choice for president. Obama is a bubble that is soon going to burst. As a democrat I am not even staying on the sidelines, I am actually voting for McCain. He has his minuses but seems to be the only acceptable candidate this election cycle, no matter how much media tries to put Obama through our throats.

I am one of the 18,000,000 Hillary voters that WILL NOT vote for Obama under any circumstances and no matter what any current or past Democratic Party elected official says.

I am voting for John McCain. I know him. I don't know the other guy but I do know his supporters are big jerks.

My wife said last week she would not vote for Obama if he put Biden on the ticket because he's a Zionist and is a misogynist. Biden couldn't even make it through his first speech without insulting his wife, and women.

The ad is hilarious but not as funny as the O-bot reactions.

I wonder who'll be pouting when a third of Hill-crats hand the election to President McCain?

Grow up kids. The 3 AM text was childish and more reason to think Obama isn't mature enough to be president, even with Joe-Daddy whispering in his ear.

And, thank the god of your choice ME-chelle won't be First Lady.

Obama should have chosen Clinton for the VP. At least to appease her fans. Now many of them will not vote for him. In the end, more people will vote for McCain because he is less risky. Obama's numbers will continue to fall as people learn more and more about him. I know several people who are NOT happy w/ McCain but, will vote for him because Obama is downright scary.

Golly, I never could've seen this hollow attack coming from McCain. It's a shame this kind of thing works so reliably with a weak-minded segment of the electorate.

Picking this windbag with a lobbyist son trading on his name instead of a strong woman who won 18 million votes is a disgrace intended to help McCain. If Obama wanted to win instead of spiting Clinton he would have chosen her. Goodbye Ohio PA and Indiana

The GOP could not have written a better script for this. Biden does little for Sen. Obama except serve as an attack dog. He sorely needs that, but it does little to attract voters looking for "change they can believe in". It is a "safe" choice and shows little in the way of leadership. Sebelius would have been a better choice in that regard.

It's not that the GOP has to use Sen. Biden's and Sen. Clinton's words against Sen. Obama, it's that they GET to do it. The sad thing for Democrats is that those words were prescient. Sen. Obama has almost no legislative accomplishments and his biggest claim to success is two books touting himself. The buyer's remorse is palpable.

The gender gap in this election has narrowed significantly and if Sen. McCain can keep the pressure on with an appealing (and probably female) VP pick, this race is over. It is also easy to believe Saddleback may just have been a preview of things to come. The "above my pay grade" gaffe will sting for a long time, no matter how many houses Sen. McCain has. Sen. Obama thinks he has what it takes to lead a nation. When lacking any credible executive experience, getting people to actually believe it is a whole different proposition.

Hillary was a worthy adversary. She was tougher than Obama is. Look, I tend to vote conservative, but I grew to respect Hillary after her strength in the face of Bill's cheating, her Senate career, and then the way she handled herself during her Presidential bid. She is both tough and classy. I bet if she had won the Dem nomination, she would be up 10% vs. McCain. She's already been vetted, and, let's face it, the Clinton years were good ones in many ways.

Would I have voted for her? Unlikely. But would I have felt secure with her as President? A LOT more than I would with Obama as President. Plus I credit her with coming close to breaking the glass ceiling.

The reality is - Obama should have picked her as VP, or at the very least been more respectful to her. That 3 am announcement was really a slap in the face to her.

McCain won't pick Hillary as VP for the same reason Obama couldn't pick someone like Lugar - it's hard to cross party lines. However, I hope McCain shows her the respect she deserves.

Once with Clinton, Now with McCain.

McCain fpr America 2008

It's funny, several people have pointed out - quite appropriately - that Obama's platform is almost identical to Hillary's, so any Hillary supporter that votes for McCain is clearly voting out of bitterness. Not one Hillary supporter has done a thing to dispel this ... not that there's anything they can say.

This whole notion that Hillary was "mistreated" is total bull. Hillary ran a poor campaign (should have won the primary easily) and was bested by Obama in a very contentious and difficult primary process, fair and square. That's politics. Deal. The idea that Obama somehow owes her something? Ridiculous! Hillary owes it to her party and her country to get behind Obama 100%, which she has done (at least publicly). Her supporters should do the same, unless they think this election is petty enough to through away because of misplaced egoism and resentment. It just takes a cursory glance at the state of things to show that this is NOT a petty election.

Also, to emphasize a point made before, if Obama loses this election, there is no way in hell that Clinton will be on a ticket in 2012 or 2016. She'll be seen as someone who divided the party and led the Dems to lose an easily win-able election ... who would want to elect someone like that?

See the YouTube video below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpsdKUQ1nKA

for one person’s perspective on how you can make a decision to support Obama AND vote for John McCain. Feel free to forward this to any “undecided” voters you know of. This will be a VERY close election and we need every single vote we can get.

Demonizing Obama will get us a few votes (and also lose us at least a few votes) but I hope that a rational, positive thought process will persuade a few people who are still on the fence.

Regards,

Dan
