A text message demo. (Chicago Tribune photo by Stacey Wescott)

I have so been waiting for him to text me.
For a whole week, since I texted him and said: Yes, Barack, yes, let's do it, put me on your list to be among the first to know your vp pick. Well, ever since that day every time my cell goes "brrrrng," my heart cramps with desire.
Let it please be him, Oh, dear God
It must be him, It must be him
Or I shall die . . .
But no, he just keeps me hanging on
The last time my phone went "brrrrng," it was Borders texting me a coupon for 25% off 1 reg price item.
Isn't that like the worst? You're chewing your cuticles waiting for the phone to chirp and then it does and it's totally the wrong person?
Hey, you. I heard what you just said. "Liberal" has nothing to do with why I'm waiting for Barack to text me.
I think it would be totally awesome if John texted me his vp choice too. But John has made minus-zero effort to court me the newfangled way.
Is it my fault John doesn't text? He'll probably name his vp at something totally 20th Century, like a news conference. Don't blame me if he's not a good communicator.
Barack, see, he understands my needs. He makes me feel special. He let me know he wanted my cell number. Wanted it bad. I was, like, totally flattered.
And after I texted him my info--btw, his number's 62262--he texted a reply:
"Welcome to Obama Mobile. You will now be one of the 1st notified when the VP candidate is selected. Text HELP for help. Std charges apply. Please forward."
Charges? I was not thrilled to see this relationship was going to cost me $$ but whatever. Life is not a freebie Valentine. At least he wrote back.

Just not enough "fodder" in this one.

Johnny Mac is getting the tom-toms ready, when he announces or will he send a piece of papyrus around to the local telegraph offices ?!! This should be an interesting development, stay tuned, keep your ear out or brush up on you hiragliphics, as I had to do. I don't want to miss any of his announcements !!

The decision is ... Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Did you really fall for Plouffe's message? Nobody will get advance notice of the Veep - save for maybe select members of the media.

Hey libs - put the phone on vibrate and at least get a little pleasure from the message.

I don't know that this woman was joking, it seemed extreme enough to be a joke, if not, she's a total idiot.
It would be funny if it didn't so accurately show how the rest of us view the typical Obama fan club member. Down right scary what some will do to be close to a CELEBRITY!

Just another gimmick! It looks just a
little desperate to me. Since Gore already has invented the internet maybe Obama can take the credit for inventing text messaging.
