Good morning.
With Congress shut down for its August recess, and President Bush vacationing at his Texas ranch, there are few official events scheduled in Washington for Monday, August 18.
The Heritage Foundation is holding a forum on "The Russian-Georgian War: A Challenge for the U.S. and the World."

TBILISI/BERLIN, August 18 (RIA Novosti) - "German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that Georgia can still join NATO, despite a recent conflict with Russia over breakaway South Ossetia."
A possible silver lining of the dark cloud? Maybe Russia has rallied Europe and NATO is strengthened.

We don't need is any more counterproductive "bomb, bomb, bomb ...", "axis of evil" childish, swaggering rhetoric that makes cowboys and top guns feel tough, but is counterproductive to U.S. national interest.
Barack Obama knows that it's important for a president to know that he is the United States' top diplomat as well as its commander-in-chief.

Dougie, you've been avoiding me. I'm still waiting for some answers: what is Barcks magical plan to end the war? And the "plan" for energy policy? C'mon, you say you know, so tell us>
As for you comment above: It's interesting that Tom Daschle was on "This Week" to talk about Obama's foreign policy (the Dems don't trust Barack to speak for himself it seems) and he was thumping his chest and talking real tough, even reckless. If he's one of the Dems' senior statesman and a guiding light, then God help us all if Obambi gets elected! I agree with you, we don't need any play tough, wannabe cowboys.

Barack Obama is also the nation's top diplomat making promises in Europe for a presidency that hasn't begun yet.
Not to say he wouldn't improve US-European relations, that's up for debate. But if "diplomacy" is acting as president prior to the election, then I guess he is our man, Constitution be damned.

Dougie i told you I've been to his website and there are no details there. For energy policy there is a pastiche of slogans, no real plan of any kind. Ditto for the war... except that now Obama has even backed off from his 16 month pledge... just this July.
So tell us Dougie, do you have any inside information? Because you seem so confident, but nobody else in the world can say what Obama is going to do. Please tell us!
