There was a time when political yard signs were free. No more.
Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign sent out an e-mail to supporters today encouraging them to put a sign in their yard -- and make a contribution of $15 or more.
"Make a donation of $15 or more before Tuesday's deadline and you'll receive an official Obama-Biden yard sign," the pitch says. "Your sign will arrive no later than Friday, October 17th, so you'll have plenty of time to show off your support and remind your friends and neighbors to vote for Barack."
The deadline referenced is Sept. 30, the final day of fundraising for the month.
For a T-shirt, the campaign is asking for $30 or more.

After the election in 2000, I observed the massive republican money machine and admired how they could always unite and bankroll their candidate. So this election I decided I could give tiny amounts, hoping it would make a difference. It looks like a few million others thought the same way. I already have an Obama yard sign, but this blogpost is prompting me to get another one -- thanks for the reminder!

Obama decided not to stick with the spending cap and now is finding out that his fund raising is not keeping up with his free spending. This is just another indication of how Obama operates: spend and tax. By the way, what happened to Obama's billionaire supporter George Soros and his millionaires Hollywood friends?

It's a lot cheaper than paying for Lobbyists and catering to their wishes, as the McCain-Who ticket has practiced throughout their political careers !! In particular, Senator McCain, who has surrounded himself and his campaign in Lobbyists. I don't think Senator McCain makes a move without the okay from his Lobbyist friend, the former Senator " Whiner " Gramm !! You know, the one that was responsible for the deregulation of the Banking sector and that trailer park, known as Wall Street !! A vote for the McCain-Who ticket, is a voter for governance by Lobbyists' consent !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

So for 45 bucks I can get both a yard sign AND a tee shirt? What a steal!
.
Oh by the way, Don Fitzgerald!!! Obama accepts money from Lobbyists!!! He always has!!! He never stopped!!! He just lies about it!!! Only naive bugwits believe he doesn't!!!
.
Wanna buy a yard sign, Don??? I'll let it go for $12.50!!!

I went to the Obama Campaign Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio today and was given a FREE yard sign and a button.
When the woman who registers volunteers told me that they were going to start asking people for $4 to help buy more signs, I gave her a crisp $20.
I also volunteered to canvas in my neighborhood.
Quit trying to paint Obama with such a broad brush. I'd gladly give money for a yard sign, just to let my neighbors know that they aren't alone in their support of Obama.
For a yard sign or any other Obama collateral (bumper stickers, buttons, shirts, etc) just go to the campaign headquarters in your area. If there's not one in your area, go online and do it.

If any candidate wants to charge others for a sign with his name on it, it's time to get a sign with his opponent's name on it--for free--and place that sign in the best location of your yard. People and brands should actually pay us to wear anything with their name or logo on it.

So Vivian does that mean you walk around naked everyday. Every time you walk into a store to buy clothing or shoes YOU buy another persons brand. Everyone is always looking for a free handout. Get over it it's a SIGN.

Hi Brita--No, I actually wear clothing. Best to wear clothing that has no logo blazed across it--no alligators, anchors, initials or symbols--unless they are mine. Anyone elses--tacky and pretentious. Labels are worn on the inside. BTW, again, why would anyone PAY for a political sign? What does your saying that, "everyone is looking for a free handout", have to do with a loser paying for a political sign? And, who wears free junk? The year Nike beat Adidas in the Super Bowl was funny, wasn't it?
