The Swamp

by John McCormick

Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is expected to roll out a new ad today that suggests Sen. John McCain is running a dishonorable campaign.

"I will not take the low road to the highest office in this land," the ad quotes McCain as saying, before listing numerous quotes from recent media reports about the Arizona Republican's recent campaign tactics.

"Exposed as a lie," one reads. "The truth be damned," adds another.

"What happened to John McCain?" an announcer asks, according to an advance copy of the script.

Later the announcer adds: "It seems 'deception' is all he's got left."

Looks like it is going to be another fun week on the campaign trail.

As a European I can't believe that Americans are even considering voting for the war mongering McCain and his VP, the ignorant christian fundementalist Palin.

One would think that after 8 years of Bush and the Republicans that you Americans would be looking to a change in office. No Obama isn't perfect, but hell....McCain over him for another 4-8 years of Republican policies?

So PAlin has a tanning bed in the mansion? Is that as bad as a $400 haircut?
Question is:WHO paid for it

Obama just lost all the “girls”. Now he’s freaking out with Palin on McCain’s side.

Obama will have a difficult time regaining any momentum, now that the new girl in town, Sarah Palin has spoken. Obama and his clan of far left radicals may have lost his minimal lead permanently.

Palin’s speech was tremendous. Hillary’s speech was terrific. We have seen two women with ambition and love for our country demonstrate to the world a vitality that will not be forgotten. With Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama could have made history - but instead, Obama chose not to do so. Now McCain and his VP pick are doing just that.

Obama hogged history. So Hillary’s 18 million voters watching her speech will likely produce no gain for Obama. Instead, it will lay the basis for a lasting resentment at Obama’s failure to select her as VP. Palin’s presence was the icing on the cake.

Obama can't win the votes of women, especially older women.

The combination of Hillary's speech at the DNC convention and Sarah Palin’s speech, made Obama's chance of winning those women voters a lot harder, if not impossible.

Obma is a good one to talk with his honor and background plus a wife that hated America -
This kind of honor in the White House-Think twice Fellow Americans-

Next target:

Find and destroy Rove's supplyl line for Hostess Twinkies and Ding Dongs.

The jury is in, John McCain sold his honor to Karl Rove.

The man John McCain thinks smeared him and his family in South Carolina is the same man John McCain now gets campaign $$$money$$$ and his smear and fear strategy from.

Then McCain, not fooling anone, picked a neophyte governor from a sparsely populated state to pander to women. "Executive experience?" What a joke. A bad joke.

John McCain wants the joke to be on us. But Americans are smarter than that.

!OBAMA/BIDEN '08!

Obama needs to remember his base.
Why was he even a candidate to begin with?
Because Americans with a brain realize that we cannot afford on any level, financial, civic, or moral, to conduct he wars we have conducted largely since the end of ww2--with 2 exceptions--stopping genocide in Bosnia and Haiti during the Clinton administration.
Who needs or wants to hear that McSame is as morally debased as the Bushes?
His supporters don't need to hear it--and the hard core repugs will not care to listen.

Sen. McCain has sold his soul; it's sad to see.

WONDER WOMAN BLOWS
AWAY WONDER MOUTH!

And Axelrod et al out of desperation attack John McCain?

Hang in there,Sen. McCain,
you've got them seriously concerned!

Governor Palin is doing a number on Senator WONDER
MOUTH!

NO OBAMA! NO WAY!

Well, talk about honor.

Obama's camp calling Bill Clinton a racist and smearing Hillary.

McCain is doing what every other campaign has done.

Smear that lipstick over Obama.

Al, don't speak for women. ("The girls"? Spare me.) Women do tend to vote Democratic, and Obama stands up for women's rights, like equal pay for equal work.

Eight years ago, I respected McCain. Month after month and day after day in 2008, he has destroyed that respect by turning to the smears/lies tactics pushed by Karl Rove.

The Iraq/Afghan Oil War continues; the stock market is about to collapse; unemployment is sky-high; mom and dad can't afford college for the kid; no one has medical care anyway . . . oops! I forgot! The emergency room . . . what does McCain have to run on but mud and fear?

Liberals are the most nasty, angry people in America. Obama is a horrible person and candidate.

McCain Palin are going to crush Obama Biden. No experience. No ideas.

Obama tried to get the Iraqis to not deal with Bush. Just coming out on the news.

God Bless America

And just read article that McCain is more apt to work with the other side than Obama. Obama says one thing and does the other by voting the democratic / liberal way most of the time!

Guess that's better than his record in Illinois when he just was present!

If anyone has run a dishonorable campaign, it's Obama. When it suits him, he throws out the race card (You know, I don't look like the other guys on the dollar bills, etc). Then when he gets called on bringing race into the canpaign, he says it's the other guy who is bringing race into the race.,
Obama is nothing more than a Chicago Democratic political hack, who is completely ill-equipped and unqualified to be president.
Anyway, since the Left and media are in the tank for Obama then you know he is bad for America.

You have to admit the McCain that we all knew is long gone....as his campaign plays out it really shows he has lost his integrity, honor and will lie cheat and "mislead" to get a vote. I am disappointed in him as a person. If he is willing to make such am abrupt shift while running for office, what will he be like if he and wins? As for Palin - I dont think she realizes that if Hillary was chosen, she (Palin) would still be shoveling moose crap from the front yard. I dont really think that she gets that she is running for a VP spot in the nations capital vs. running for the top spot for the PTA.

Here comes the Chicago Daley Machine tactics that everybody in Chicago was warning you about. Cry baby Obama is a sore loser, now he's trying to SWIFT BOAT his opponent. This is what he did in every election he ever ran for in IL.

Obama pays his female staffers than his male staffers. McCain pays his female staffers more than his male staffers. Look it up.

So much for equal pay.

People are seeing the 'true' obama, and at the same time, what true change looks like in Palin... obama is fake, Palin is real. Let's face it, with obama's background and lack of experience, he's lucky he became a senator. When McCain gets down
to business and reminds people of Rev. Wright, Michelle' comments, Rezko, etc. etc., obama is finished.

Will all the Europeans get the heck out of our election? You are making it worse for the candidates you support, because when you can''t vote in this country, no one wants to hear your opinion on our election!

I think Obama is running a dishonest campaign. He keeps telling everyone what they want to hear and knows he won't be able to deliver. His VP choice is the second poorest in the senate and makes $325,000 a year. Obama tells everyone that he wants to raise taxes on those making $250,000 or more. Is anyone dumb enough to think that these people are going to vote themselves a tax increase? Of course Obama wants to make the middle class think he is on their side.
If Obama is elected, we can all pay higher taxes so that the welfare crowed can all get free health care!

Back in October 2007, McCain berated the two Republican front runners for lacking the necessary political experience to handle commander in chief responsibilities.

"I have had a strong and a long relationship on national security, I've been involved in every national crisis that this nation has faced since Beirut, I understand the issues, I understand and appreciate the enormity of the challenge we face from radical Islamic extremism," the Senator declared. "I am prepared. I am prepared. I need no on-the-job training. I wasn't a mayor for a short period of time. I wasn't a governor for a short period of time."

It’s just amazing that the “smear and fear” tactics that were used against McCain a few years ago, are now embraced by him. This shows the level of desperation that McCain’s campaign is now in. With all these planted stories about Palin taking the women’s votes from the Democratic party, which we all know are not even close to the truth, and the fact that August has been a record month for Obama’s fund raising. The RNC, and Karl Rove can see the writing on the wall. After Senator Obama, becomes President Obama, and finds out what these republic hacks have been doing to this country for the last 8 years, Rove, Cheney, and a lot of their cohorts, will be facing charges of treason. We can all see the devastation of our government that’s on the surface, but what we can’t see is the truth of what’s been happening behind the White House walls. I can almost hear the White House shredders running from here.

Go Obama/Biden 08!!!

Get used to it people.

Ned, worry about your European elections. Europe is not utopia or you would not be here. When you come to our country you should say Thank You, not tell us what you think we should change!!!!!

Obama has a lot of nerve questiing McCain's honor when he is tied to one of the most corrupt political machines in the nation in Chicago. He also took money from the convicted felon Tony Rezko and belonged to a church that preached hate for 23 years led by its minister Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright.

Are you better off now then your were 8 years ago? That's the question

Obama questioning McCain's honor?......WOW!.....this from a man who had to be reminded on national television that he is not a Muslim...but a Christian (he should be thanking George for bailing him out of that one).....the same man who CAN NOT give a straight answer to anything.......who changes his mind about everything........who is using gutter politics and lies to belittle a great American.....yeah.....Obama sure sounds honorable to me...

If the McCain/Palin camp just stuck to keeping the focus on Obama and his pathetic resume, the election would take care of itself.

Yes McCain has no honor. None. He lies without a twinge of remorse. (Sarah Palin has never requested an earmark). He has chosen a running mate who supports successionists dedicated to the destruction of our union. He wants an America hating, traitor at his side.

John McCain is unfit to serve the US in any way at this point. He is a disgrace to this nation.

As I am 60 years old, I will hereby speak for "older women" who were Hillary backers. When Hillary didn't win the primary, and wasn't selected as the VP pick, we back the next best thing that represents our issues and values--Barack Obama. To think that we would back Sarah Palin is an insult. She's nothing like Hillary, and doesn't represent Democratic issues. She is a poser. She is no way ready to be President if the need shoud arise. She isn't even near the same intellectual level as Hillary or Joe Biden. She's is intellectually average---nothing more. I can't wait for the Palin-Biden debate, she'll fold. THANKS, BUT NO THANKS, on the McCain-Palin ticket.

The question for Ned, the euro so interested in our political affairs, is: Would you give the keys to your new BMW to a brand new unexperienced driver for a night out on the town? Ah come on dad that old Volvo just does not cut it any longer; I need a change.

What people don't understand is that when the president changes, so does the entire office and many of the appointees. Thousands of jobs are impacted. To suggest that McCain will be four more years is grosslt ignorant of what goes on routinely every four years in our counrty.

I know this won't get posted, but I do find it disturbing that Obama's attack ad quotes The Swamp, but claims it's from the Chicago Tribune. Talk about dishonest. He uses partisan shills in the hijacked media as some sort of basis for his claim that Obama is being unfairly criticized. Cry me a river! Obama has used the media to do his vile dirty work ever since he got involved in politics. You're in the big leagues now, Barack. You can't go running home to your Mainstream Media Mommies anymore! Oh, and when is Obama going to release his Columbia transcripts and his LSAT scores? Or does the media only care about sealed divorce records?

The Republican bravado for the last 8 years was and remains: If you have nothing worthwhile to stand for, Lie, Lie, Lie to their constituency. Republicans have lied to us precipitously since the Clinton administration. Since Republican tactics have become so deplorably dishonest the party has lost the respect of many voters, and I rarely vote a mixed ticket.

Fortunately most voters can't be fooled by a moose wearing lipstick.

Bemused, you're right LSAT scores are absolutely critical information. My God, how can we make this decision without his standardized testing scores? We know that Sarah Palin got perfect scores on every test she every took, we need to see Oama's scores. John McCain has voluntarilly taken the LSAT to show how qualified he is even though he didn't go to law school, and graduated at the bottom of his class.

Let's quit talking about phony issues like the economy and the war, let's focus on what's really important: the LSAT!

I am over 60 and supported Hillary, not because I agreed with all her policies, but I know she is more moderate and would work across the aisle, like John McCain. Also, because I worked for 25 years trying to break through that glass ceiling w/o doing so. No matter what I did, how much I knew, how much better I was, there was always a man who got the promotion. I felt she was just as qualified as McCain so I supported her. It was time we broke that barrier. Well, she didn't get the nomination and Obama can't hold a candle to her. There is no way I can support a candidate from Chicago - I live here in Illinois and I know better. We have the most dysfunctional state government I have ever seen. And, Cook County comes in a close second! I know how Obama got where he is (and it wasn't because he's qualified), what his politics are and there is no way I want to see Washington invaded by any more Chicago politicians - heaven help our country if that happens! This is not the change we need! The Dems have Congress in a gridlock since they took over 2 years ago and I don't want increases for the welfare crowd or bailouts for people who are losing their homes because they can't make their mortgage payments or 800+ billion aid packages for Africa! My second career was as a realtor and I can tell you from experience that most of those people don't deserve a bailout! I don't know how many times I told people they were overextending themselves, that they should find a reputable mortgage broker who would tell them what they really could afford, and on and on, but they wouldn't listen. Everyone had to have their big house to impress their friends, to keep up with the "joneses," their gas-guzzling SUVs, and wouldn't listen to my advice. I am not saying those mortgage brokers and their CEOs were right - they were not! They should take the blame, too. But everyone was not a victim of these people who thought the housing bubble would never break and were in it to make a quick buck! We taxpayers who are fiscally responsible should not have to bail these people out! I'm tired of it - I want people to understand that the candidate who thinks you should be accountable for your own actions is the better candidate! I don't wan't a community organizer who was really a community activist, organizing people to "get more freebies" from the government, leaving slum lord housing projects undone and unoccupied for my president. Obama has not shown me that he has the judgment to lead or the judgment to pick the right cabinet or advisors! McCain will not be 4 more years of Bush - he and Palin will be voices for reform and will put country first - not their own celebrity!

Ned is from Europe and he wants Obama to be the president...good enough for me! I am definitely voting for John McCain. The democrats had the senate for the past two years and not a damn thing has been done to correct any financial problems, particularly any attempt by Obama. He can write two memoirs, but has a little difficulty with bills.Hmmm

MARCO stated, "Ned, worry about your European elections. Europe is not utopia or you would not be here. When you come to our country you should say Thank You, not tell us what you think we should change!!!!!

Hey Marco, do you even have a clue about what this country is all about......Freedom! Freedom to express your and/or Ned's point of view. It's the freedom that allows you to make the hasty generalization that Ned is here because he doesn't like Europe. My grandparents came from Europe and expressed their points of view by voting in every election they could. Unless you're a Native American your roots are from another country. Cut Ned some slack and the fact that Ned offended you must mean he hit the nail on the head for you to get so offensive and belittling.

Bemused, he graduated from Harvard Law School. What relevance to anything is his LSAT score? I'd love to see what Palin would get on that test. Apparently you care more about trivia than issues; the McCain-Palin campaign is blatantly lying and you don't care?

Obama questions McCain's honor? You have to have some to be the judge. That's quite a concept coming from a degenerate who deals with a corrked governor and a convicted criminal.

I thought Obama wanted to talk about issues. Instead he has this stupid attack ad and the other one with the disco ball. What a joke. I think he is getting some bad advice. No one but the quacks on the far left think McCain is anything but an honorable guy, and Obama already has their vote. Independents are simply not going to buy this drivel.

Herbie -- unfortunately, Obama has had no choice but to go negative. It's a sad fact that a lot of people in this country react to and believe attack ads rather than positive, message driven ads. I don't like it, but honestly? This country cannot afford another 4 (or heaven forbid - 8) more years of Bush/Republican policies.

Ned, you must not have gotten the memo - you don't get to vote here. Tell me about how much better European elections go. Would you say the educated masses there always get it right? Do you typically favor style over substance?

I am fascinated by some “conservatives.” They are convinced Obama is a liberal and liberals are the most angry nasty people in America. Apparently, conservatives like Palin and others are not are not angry or nasty, but NOT content with the country’s morals, policies, religion, and lifestyles. Are they looking for a return to a more wholesome time? The 50s? 40s? 30s? 20s? Earlier? Were these wholesome societies less angry or nasty? Blacks had to ride in the back of the bus. African American heroes in World War II had to wait fifty years for the same medal and honors the Caucasian heroes received immediately. Homosexuals were beaten when someone found out about their lifestyle. Asian Americans were placed in concentration-style camps in California.

Obama “played the race card” because the conservatives played it first. McCain did not mention anyone’s race. Other conservative “activist” suggested Obama was a Muslim, a complete lie, on blogs and replies to articles like this one. Obama cannot ignore these attacks. Just because his opponent wasn’t the author, doesn’t mean the falsehoods won’t spread. If he does not respond some people will start believing the lies. McCain was above attacks and very positive during his RNC speech because all of the other Republicans were making the angry and nasty speeches for him. McCain never mentioned race, other conservatives are doing it for his campaign. Everyone is watching Mr. Congeniality while his supporters and running mate are suggesting the Democrats are evil and Obama is the devil himself (actually suggested on a blog a few weeks ago).

Ned, you must not have gotten the memo - you don't get to vote here. Tell me about how much better European elections go. Would you say the educated masses there always get it right? Do you typically favor style over substance?

Southside, no choice but to go negative? OK. That's fine. I really don't care if Obama wants to play in the mud, or feels that he has to. But if he is going to sling mud, don't pretend to be a different kind of politician who is above the fray. And don't pretend to want to focus on issues, then release this garbage.

Posted by: Herbie H. | September 15, 2008 2:49 PM

He learned fron the best Herbie, John "straight talker" McCain. The "Maverick" has been running completely negative ads for months. He's telling complete lies. Is that the type of honorable campaign McCain promised?

Forget Bugsy, Ned; you're welcome to vote in the Swamp.

Ned: Citizenship is not a requirement for the market place of ideas. What makes this country great is regardless of the individual, they can express their opinion. How many other countries can you do that? From what I understand, many Europeans are more knowledgeable about our elections and candidates than a lot of voting citizens. Though I may or may not agree with you, I value your input.

Ned's opinion is more than welcome on this site!

In fact, I think more American's need to open their eyes and ears to how the rest of the world views us. We don't live in our own little bubble. Bush has ensured that the majority of the rest of the world has lost a lot of respect for our country. That is one of the reasons Obama was received so well overseas. He is a refreshing change from McCain/Bush, and is really the only one to help turn our foreign relations around.

Good. Hope Obama and Biden keeps right on swinging. Obama has had ever lie told about him since day one and it's time McCain got to wear those shoes for awhile.

I'm tried of listening to Palin's screeching voice on every channel anyway.

Excellent! Factual and shows the liars for what they are. I've had it with Republican lies - ENOUGH! They've been getting away with this kind of dishonest campaigning for too long. Keep hitting 'em with the truth - GO OBAMA!!!

Al from NJ, you must be one of those despicable PUMA Republican racists posing as a Democrat. I as a woman am totally digusted by Palin the pitbull dummy, who is the total antithesis of Hillary Clinton. Very few thinking women are taken in by Palin. I think only those poor uneducated Republican fundamental "Christian" women who brag about not taking "welfare" but feed their kids white bread and jelly sandwiches 3 times a day are the ones taken in. They have been brainwashed for generations and cannot think for themselves.
