Neither of the major presidential candidates has proposed workable fixes to the nation's most significant health care problems, according to two articles published in a leading policy journal today.
Senator John McCain's health reform plan wouldn't reduce the ranks of the uninsured, contends one set of well-known experts, writing in Health Affairs.
Senator Barack Obama's plan wouldn't stem rapidly rising health care costs, argues another set of experts in the same publication.
Their analyses provide a sobering reminder of the enormous challenges associated with enacting wide-ranging health reform.
See some notabble highlights of criticism for the McCain and Obama health care proposals in Triage, the Tribune's blog about health care issues.

Let me guess McBushs' stand.
If I'm elected president I will never let this happen again.

I guess we can socialize Wall Street, but not medical insurance?

For 29 years, Senator McCain has been in our Senate, you would think he would have spearheaded a campaign to get the uninsured, insured. You would have thought, him being the well pronounced Veteran that he is, would have alerted the nation, or even the Senate, about the deplorable conditions our Veterans had to suffer in our medical facilities, including the flag-ship hospital. Walter Reed Hospital. That's how much Senator McCain cared about our Veterans, he couldn't even alert the nation to the deplorable state of our Department of Veterans Affairs. Now,he wants us to believe that he cares about our nation, more then he cares about being elected to the highest Office in the land !! Only if non-thinking voters are the only ones that vote in this election, will he gain that Office, but if reasonable and honest voters come out, it will be back to Arizona and give the good people of Arizona, some honest representation, not to mention, the Veterans !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

the biggest thing to know is that obama's plan will clearly make things worse while mccain's plan at least has a chance at making things better
how much money had obama taken drug company donations ? check it out - it is a helluva lot more than anyone thinks
OBAMA = CHANGE WE CANNOT AFFORD
MCCAIN = FIRST CANDIDATE IN 20 YEARS WHO HAS THE GUTS TO TAKE ON HIS OWN PARTY AND MAKE POSITIVE CHANGE
MCCAIN / PALIN 2008

We simply cannot afford to help the working poor get access decent healthcare. We need that money to bail out Wall Street firms and investors who made poor decisions.

McCain wants us to rely on the free market to fix health care. Why is that foolish? In Washington, D.C. there is the highest concentration per capita of oncologists in the country. Strangely, however they charge the highest fees in the country for their services. The health care industry does NOT follow free market principles. McCain doesn't get it.
