The Swamp

by Mark Silva

"This ultimately isn't a race between us and Sarah Palin,'' David Axelrod, chief strategist for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama, says today. "It's a race between Barack Obama and John McCain. They're the candidates for president."

But Axelrod does question Palin's limited exposure to the public in an interview aired on FOX News Sunday today. "She was basically an unknown...She hasn't sat down to...answer any substantive questions. All she's done is read a couple of speeches.''

"She's not scared to answer questions,'' McCain campaign manager Rick Davis says of the Alaska governor on the same program today. "We run our campaign, not the news media. And we'll do things on our timetable. And honestly, this last week was not an exemplary moment for the news media...The information that the news media has been putting out on Sarah Palin is not what I would call objective journalism

"Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children?" Davis asks.

Palin isn't the only problem with the McCain campaign, Axelrod suggests of the senior staff there: "Almost everybody who's running his campaign is a major Washington lobbyist,...They've lobbied for oil companies, drug companies, insurance companies, for foreign oil interests, for foreign governments. That's who's running his campaign."

"They've been running against ghosts of the past all along,'' replies Davis, a former lobbyist, speaking with FOX host Chris Wallace. "And I think it just shows that they don't really have anything to talk about... I think it's hilarious. I think it's a wonderful distraction from the real issues that we're trying to debate. It's a classic example of a campaign that doesn't have anything else to say, so they pick on staff."

On Obama perhaps misjudging the "surge'' of American military forces in Iraq, Axelrod says: "Well, first of all, you want to talk about a matter of being profoundly wrong in judgment, it was the judgment to go into Iraq in the first place instead of going after Osama bin Laden, who's resurgent today. "

On the choice voters face on Election Day: "The choice is between a path that leads us to more of the same and a compounding of the problems that we've already seen over the last eight years, and someone who offers the kind of change that we need to rebuild the middle class, rebuild our economy, rebuild our standing in the world and our security and move America forward."

"It's very, very simple. You vote for John McCain, you're voting for more of the same. Barack Obama represents change and hope and progress for this country."

The choice is a question of status quo versus reform, McCain's man suggests.

Sarah Palin is a proven reformer, Davis maintains:"These pork barrel projects that you talk about -- these were not projects that she tried to get. These were projects that the Republican establishment in Alaska, who she campaigned against and beat many times over -- were the ones picking those grants up.

"Let me remind you, she vetoed more bills. She cut back on more pork barrel spending in the state legislature than any previous governor. She converted that legislature into reform because she passed ethics reforms and corruption reforms... She railed against the establishment in Alaska and was able to accomplish great things like passing a significant energy bill that allowed them to create a natural gas pipeline."

Of all of the good women in America, with tremendous experience in national and international affairs, Senator McCain, in a diabolically measured choice, has placed, a heartbeat away from the most powerful office in the world, a neophyte and a bible-thumper. I hope she is listening to the right God and doesn't get her wires crossed !! She may mean well, unlike the present Republican President, when he entered office, but she doesn't have the necessary tools, at this time in her fledgling political career, to lead this country. America, if she is honest with herself, will reject the Bush-McCain Republican ticket, it is too extreme and too dogmatic for a healthy America !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW

I find it very interesting that so far all Sarah Palin has done is read a prepared "rah rah" speech for John McCain. After eight years of lies from the current administration...and the Republican party I haven't seen anything to tell me that John McCain and Sarah "Barracuda" are any different. We need a statesman in the White House not two scary mavericks. I would hate to know that they were answering the telephone at 3 a.m. because they are both trigger happy.

It is so sad that Republican can realize what we want for our country. We need to care of us here in america and if we are fine the rest of the world will be fine. The play the political game for something so important is a shame. This country cannot continue doing business the way it is right now. We are not producing anything here is USA and all of our business are going oversea. We do not have control of this country anymore and this is not good for us or for America. We need to change this country and this country need to be running with a 21st century mentality. John McCane can even browse on the internet and this is sad.

Why wouldn't we want to know about her personal life? (See Obama, Hillary)
Can you imagine if Amy Carter, Chelsea, or someday Obama's oldest daughter turned up pregnant?
-
There would be a right wing feeding frenzy the like of which the world has never seen.
-
Here's why it pertinent;
1. It calls into question the Palin's parenting abilities.
2. Where was she and dad when this was happening?
3. Did Bristol ever have a choice, really?
4. Was she given any sex ed. at all, or just told to abstain?
5. Was she counseled on the dangers of STD's and condom use?
-
These are, like it or not, pertinent questions for a family values candie.

She can't face Chris Wallace? How can she be ready for this job?

Ah, the "discreet charm of the bourgeoisie."

As in Lake Wobegon, all those "undecided" out there want to believe they are "above average". Enjoying the Republican lifestyle.
Even as markets crash and folk in Warshington have to work weekends to prop up financial institutions.

That's the secret weapon of McC--just persuade sufficient stiffs out there that they're really members of the country club.
And NOT part of the waitstaff.
Vote for Obama and you're admitting your're part of the unwashed, all those folk whose only retirement plan is social security.
Admitting the economy is in the tank is admitting you're a failure.
So: keep the denial going and vote McC!
Added attraction:
Veep in Go Go Boots.

What we are all thinking is this: Now we have an option of a 72+ year old man, with a history of Cancer, if elected, with a Bible Thumping, Gun Toting, ex Mayor from a little Dinky Town in Alaska, in reserve if anything happens to him. Hah! McCain wasn't thinking about America, he was thinking about getting elected and picked as his running mate a Bridge to Nowhere.

This election is so full of contradiction I can’t stand it.
Palin initiated a windfall profit tax on oil companies. Isn’t that what Obama suggested?
Palin thinks god wants her to build the pipeline and that the Iraq war is god’s holy war against Islam (NPR recently reported on this)
John McCain asked for us to serve in his last speech and promoted his bipartisanship but just the night before and the run up to his speech they bashed being a community organizer I guess helping your local community isn’t the kind of service he was asking for? As for this particular article, if you can’t handle the piranhas how are you going handle the vice presidency? Can’t stand the heat, go back to Alaska.

It's very simple. If you want the Carter Whitehouse, vote Obama. Remember The Iran hostage affair? Remember the bumbled rescue attempt? Remember the 70% max tax bracket, the gas shortages? Can we really afford any of this in the situation all of us are in today, both as individuals and as a country? McCain is a catalyst for Republican reform. We need a strong, decisive, experienced executive branch. The only Change you can count on if Obama is elected is the Change that will be left in your pocket after his tax-assault.

Real Reason why McCain chose Palin : Sexist and condescending
PROOF:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apdFC-vh6Ng
Also his poor record of voting against equal pay for women and opposing Equal Roles for Women in the Military should be the business of American women voters.

Davis says: "Let me remind you, she vetoed more bills.

Well what about the following facts:

In 2003, Mayor Palin left behind almost $19 million in long term debt in her town of 7,084 people.

She opposed funding for a state preschool program in Alaska but support teaching creationism in schools.

She was for the so-called Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. While campaigning for Governor she supported the bridge and called the term offensive. On the national level, she reversed her position and now uses the term. I believe she has also kept the $47 million in funds that Alaska received from our tax money for this so called bridge.

This is Obama made a mistake when he didn't pick Hillary.

I would put Palin in town hall situations first, and then have her sit down with the pundits.

Axelrod's statement regarding BO's judgement of not supporting the war in 2003. This stance was made from the safety of his State Senate seat in a district that votes 95% democratic - what a prinicpled stance going against President Bush. He basically followed the lead of his Congressman Rush. Also, if was against the invasion of Iraq over WMDs, then I against he was against Bill Clinton's bombing of Iraq in Dec, 1998 over the same WMDs.

I'll vote for McCain-Palin and for more of the same - 6 plus years of economic growth, low unemployment over President Bush's term, no terrorist attacks in over 7 years, and the list goes on. This as compared to someone who believes in raising taxes on job creators in a time of slowing economic growth.

FITZ - you talk about putting a neophyte a heart beat away from the presidency, but yet your party has nominated a neophyte to be the heartbeat of the presidency. Gov Palin has actually run something other than her mouth.

And you worry about a bible-thumper near the oval office, yet your party nominated aperson that sat in the pews of a church for 20 years that spewed anti-American rhetoric.

America, if she is honest with herself will reject the Obama-Pelosi-Reid ticket and reject the Obama bin Biden ticket.

Palintology is not what we need...It's great that she can hunt, it's great that she has religion but folks what we need is experience, proven dedication and a VP that is ready to go on day # !..The last thing we need is a person that classifies thenselves an attack do...We need someone with vision, clarity.the ability to lead. Yes her presence has generated more people coming out to McCain's engagements. Most I speak to feel this is nothing other than curiousty....Hopefully Lieberman will soon have her trained in basic government and foreign policy enough for her to come out of her hiding place and speak to the media...There are so many women out there that McCain could have chosen with fantastic credentials....He made a terrible decision..Our Country has no time for "SHOW AND TELL" training.....

It seems that Sarah the "New Republican Terminator" is giving the "APPEASEMENT KIDS" "BRAIN" Axelrod a big headache. He is going to have a bigger headache soon. Larry Sabato told fox news a short time ago that at least one new poll will show the "IN" Team McCain/Palin ahead for the first time greater than the marginal of error. How if you have been reading ME you would have already known that.

Dave Roberts,
I remember the Iran hostage crisis. They all came home alive.
-
"That's the secret weapon of McC--just persuade sufficient stiffs out there that they're really members of the country club."

Ornery,
Yes, and when you figure it's a 47/47 race at this point, they only need to convince a tiny percentage.

As Governor, Palin operates a $11 billion budget, and manages $13 billion in revenue. Furthermore, she runs a government that employs 24,000 people in 14 agencies. In addition to his whopping 143 days of senate experience, in which he managed nothing and made few decisions, Obama organized a park clean-up day on the southside as a “community organizer.” I’m much, much more concerned about Obama’s profound and dangerous lack of experience at the TOP of the ticket than I am about the supposed lack of experience at the bottom of the McCain ticket. Further evidence of Obama’s paper thin resume is the fact that he is actually trying to convince Americans that his presidential campaign has given him “executive experience.” Obama hasn’t as much as managed a Kool-Aid stand in the front yard. My God.

McCain picks a reformer for VP with excellent credentials and limited foreign experience. Liberals complain that she is a heartbeat away from the presidency and is not prepared.

Liberals pick a politician for president groomed by the corruptness of Illinois politics [the most corrupt in the country]. He has not accomplished anything in either is state or senate career and also has limited foreign experience.

Palin may be a heartbeat away from the presidency. However, the liberal pick with less experience is the their pick for the heartbeat of the presidency.

Somehow the liberal argument doesn't pass the smell taste.

Keep calling her out. Than you will be crying call her off.her

You left out one more quote from Rick Davis (from http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/palin-media-a-2.html):

"Rick Davis, campaign manager for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., just told Fox News Channel's Chris Wallace that McCain running mate Gov. Sarah Palin won't subject herself to any tough questions from reporters "until the point in time when she'll be treated with respect and deference."

Treated with deference? How patronizing.

I think it is interesting to see the democrats out in force repeating tired and worn talking points.

The truth is since Sara Palin was chose for the VP slot on the republican ticket. I know more about her then I do about Obama who has been running a campaign for 19 months.

As far as the media, it seems they have forgot that Obama has only done fluff like Vanity Fair and The View. It has taken him 19 months just to appear on Fox.

Why is it that in 19 months it was only Fox that was able to get Obama to admit the surge worked?

If I was McCain, I would tell the press that Palin will agree to appear on any media show that Obama has appeared on, as long as they ask the same questions they asked of Obama.

Why does Obama call women 'sweetie'?

Why does Obama pay women less than men?

The women working for McCain get equal pay.

I think you might think below link about Sarah Palin very interesting!

http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/kilkenny.asp

This is from someone who actually knows her and worked with her.....

Sarah Palin is the greatest thing to take over America since sliced moose.

Alternate Caption:

Come and listen to a story about a gal named Palin
A poor Alaska mom, barely kept her family from failin,
Then one day she was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Alaska gin.
-
Well the first thing you know ol' Sarah's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said honey move away from there
Said Washington is the place you ought to be so they loaded up the truck and moved to D.C.
Of Columbia , that is.
Earmarks, and lobbyists.....
-
Well now its time to say goodbye to Palin and her kin.
And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin in.
You're all invited back again in 2012
To have a heapin helpin of their right wing politicin'
-
Religious that is. Pray a spell, Take your thinkin cap off.

Y'all come back now, y'hear?.

How is it that everyone was ready to have Hillary Clinton as President and now that McCain has chosen Sarah Palin as his VP running mate no one thinks she is qualified to become President? Hillary is in the Go Old Boy circle and that is what I do not want to run this country. I believe that we "do" need fresh blood at the top. I am tired of giving my hard earned money for handouts. If you are healthy to work.... then by God "work" to put food and pay your bills like everyone else. I do... As a single mom, I have my problems making ends meet. And two children in college and having to help them make ends meets. And an ex-husband that will not help even though he can. But it gets me angry when I hear someone say that they want to know how the government will help them and their kids. Get a job.... and if you have to get a second job. I do, why can't you? I rather have someone in the Whitehouse that will stop wasteful spending and handouts than someone that will give just because they are too lazy to get a job. I vote McCain-Palin and hope that God will bless them to win the Whitehouse...
God Bless McCain & Palin.

I would LOVE Helen Thomas to quiz her!

Very Well stated From Senator Barbara Boxer:

Last night at the Republican National Convention, John McCain used the word "fight" more than 40 times in his speech.

In the 16 years that we have served together in the Senate, I have seen John McCain fight.

I have seen him fight against raising the federal minimum wage 14 times.

I have seen him fight against making sure that women earn equal pay for equal work.

I have seen him fight against a women's right to choose so consistently that he received a zero percent vote rating from pro-choice organizations.

I have seen him fight against helping families gain access to birth control.

I have seen him fight against Social Security, even going so far as to call its current funding system "an absolute disgrace."

And I saw him fight against the new GI Bill of Rights until it became politically untenable for him to do so.

John McCain voted with President Bush 95 percent of the time in 2007 and 100 percent of the time in 2008 -- that's no maverick.

We do have two real fighters for change in this election -- their names are Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

I thought a barricuda could stand up to a piranha. Guess not.

How can a woman that was a mayor of a town of 9000 people and than elected governor of a state of 667.000 people for only a year and half qualifies her to be a hearth beat away for becoming the commander in chief its behind my imagination, is McCain really using his brain or just using the women to his advantage?

And yet ANOTHER double standard with the Barack Obama campaign.

Remember what happened when Charles Gibson asked Mr. Obama about wearing the flag pin? How about some questions about Pastor Wright?

After the debate with Hillary where these questions were posed, the Barack Obama campaign cried and whimpered that they were being attacked by the media, when the questions that were asked were actually from regular people.

After that, there have been no such questions, ones that America deserves to have answered, posed to his highness Barack Obama.

Enter the Double Standard. Mr. Axelrod, chief political wingnut for the
Barack Obama campaign is now criticizing Sarah Palin for the exact same thing his own campaign made such a spectacle of.

Is this the sort of "change" that we want to have out of the Barack Obama campaign? A promise of DOUBLE STANDARD?

I say the McCain/Palin campaign is doing exactly what they SHOULD do. They are keeping the media access focused on the issues instead of allowing outright media attacks from Barack Obama insiders and loyalists who aim to DO ANYTHING to get an inexperienced and pompous candidate elected.

Sarah Palin will answer to this I'm sure, and it's gonna be a big black-eye to the Barack Obama campaign. In the meantime, how about we stop inventing such ridiculous stories on the weekend?

Obama camp should avoid, talk of EARMARK SPENDING vs McCain's, LOBYIST, questions of the success of the SURGE, Palin's experience over Obama's ha, Palin's Earmarks because then you have to look at the $'s she vetoed, the jet she sold, cook she got rid of, and the land tax she lowered by 40%.....sooooooo, what can they talk about, hmmmm hmmmmmm hmmmm, not basket ball anymore, can't bring up mentors and radical associations hmmmmm, damn I give up ha! Just stick with the ' I'm not running against her, I'm running against McCain, well, until you change that up when you want to go after her, then you can say WELL WHAT IF MCCAIN DIES'. Make up your minds.

MR. RUSSERT: You’ve been talking a lot about lobbyists and money in politics. This is The Boston Globe in August: in eight—“Obama’s eight years in the Illinois Senate, from 1996 to 2004, almost two-thirds of the money he raised for his campaigns came from” political action committees, “corporate contributions,” “unions, according to Illinois Board of Elections records. He tapped financial service firms, real estate developers, healthcare providers, oil companies, and many other corporate interests, the records show.” You now talk about, “Well, I’m not taking any money from lobbyists.” You do take money from state lobbyists. You took $1.5 million from federal lobbying—employees who work for federal lobbying firms. There seems to be a real inconsistency between the amount of money you raise and where it’s coming from, and your rhetoric.

SEN. OBAMA: Well, Tim, look, I, I have said repeatedly that money is the original sin in politics and I am not sinless. I have raised money in order to bankroll my campaigns. But what I have been consistent about is fighting to reduce the influence of money in politics at every level of government. I am the only candidate in this race who has really pushed hard to reduce the influence of lobbyists. When I was in the state legislature, I passed the first campaign ethics reform legislation in 25 years. When I was in the United States Senate working with Russ Feingold, we passed the toughest ethics reform since Watergate—eliminating meals, eliminating gifts, eliminating the use of corporate jets by congressmen when they’re given by lobbyists. So I’ve got this track record, and the way I’m conducting this campaign, I think, reflects that interest in reducing money in politics.

MR. RUSSERT: But it’s all new. You did it all this...

SEN. OBAMA: No, no, no, no, no. As I said, Tim, this interest, this support of public financing of campaigns, the support of changing the ethics rules, promoting robust disclosure when it comes to how campaigns are financed, those are all laws that I have written and I have passed. So my commitment extends beyond just not taking lobbyists’ money and taking PAC money. It’s absolutely true that, in the past, there have been times where I received lobbyist and PAC money. But the interest in reducing money in politics is one that has been consistent and that I have consistently fought against. And that, I think, is the kind of track record, of being willing to take on not only Republicans, but oftentimes taking on leaders in my own party who are resistant to change that I think gives me credibility to say when I am president I am actually going to take this seriously and use my political capital to deal with it.

MR THRIFTY OBAMA IS NOT, check out the earmarks he would not release at first, You'll see why ha>

http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/03/sweet_scoop_obama_after_initia.html

Let us please remember, people, that "the media" did not bring up the subject of Bristol Palin's pregnancy. There were some bloggers who brought up the (tongue-in-cheek?) suggestion that Bristol was actually the mom of Sarah Palin's 8-month-old Down syndrome child, Trig. So the McCain/Palin campaign (McPain, as I like to call it) ISSUED A PRESS RELEASE. THEY brought attention to the issue that it previously was only getting on blogs. I seriously doubt most people took any heed to the silly allegations from the bloggers, but the minute that press release was sent out, this subject became fair game for debate. I am incensed over the Republican's accusations of the media. To my mind, there no longer exists a "liberal media." That went away not only with the dawn of Fox News, but with the changing of media ownership laws allowing large corporations to own multiple media outlets in one market. Most mainstream media are now owned by large (huge) corporations -- now you tell me, do you really think those corporations are going to allow the pushing of a liberal agenda? Get real. And get informed about media ownership, and stop buying the lies about the "media bias" being spewed by the Repubs.

THE QUESTION ISN'T "IS SARAH PALIN READY TO BE VICE PRESIDENT?" --- THE QUESTION IS, "IS SARAH PALIN READY TO BE PRESIDENT?" ANYONE THAT ARGUES THAT SHE IS IS COMPLETELY OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY. NOT TO MENTION ALL HER TALK ABOUT "I CHOSE TO HAVE MY DOWNS SYNDROME BABY" AND "BRISTON CHOSE TO HAVE HER BABY AND WE RESPECT HER CHOICE" --- PEOPLE ARE NOT STUPID. AT LEAST NOT AS STUPID AS THE GOP THINKS THEY ARE. USE YOUR BRAINS PEOPLE.

Let's remember the Carter years and his refusal to trade arms for hostages, with Iran !! Unlike the Appeaser Supreme, President Reagan and his, Arms for Hostages. You know, of the Iran-Contra Affair infamy. With Republican representatives, like Nixon, Bush I & II, and Reagan, how can this nation be real, about President Bush's hand-picked successor, Senator " Questionable Conduct " McCain ??
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

A lady just called in on C-SPAN and reminded me that McCain promised he wouldn't run on his war record...he's a BIG LIAR!!!!! He knows that's about the only thing he has going for himself!!!!! I guess I'm kinda naive...I'VE ALWAYS ADMIRED OLD PEOPLE AND FEEL THEY HAVE BETTER SCRUPLES, ETC. BUT THESE THINGS DON'T APPLY TO MCCAIN, SINCE HE'S DESPERATE!!!!! HE'S DESPICABLE, IS THE ONLY WORD I CAN THINK OF!!!!

Davis has balls, man. The Democratic Convention was all about how to fix the problems of the Middle Class, and he thinks all the Obama campaign can do is rag on the McCain campaign staff?

Further, the surge didn't reduce violence. The Anbar Awakening (i.e. paying Sunni villages to fight beside us) as well as a transition to counter-insurgency tactics rather than brute force are what reduced violence. The surge just happened at the same time and everyone thought it was responsible for the reduction in violence.

Further, for all those people who think taxes destroy our economy...well, taxes pay things like the Federal Highway Fund, which is out of money now. So our ability to build and repair roads and bridges will be diminished. I wonder what THAT will do to our economy.

Myopia...the real killer of America.

Piranha media, yes, female "journalists" they were the worst.

Sally Q Bradley (who dug her up?) and Andrea Mitchell need to remember that women's liberation was about CHOICE.

The unmerciful attacking of a pregnant seventeen year old was out of bounds, inappropriate.

Did any female journalists halt these attacks? No, they sat back and let the good ole boy media "personalities"
ask sexist questions and continue their nasty comments. Female media wimps.

Everytime Hillary was attacked for her hair, clothing, shoes, wrinkles the female media "personalities should have stunted that conversation.

Where was Gloria Steinam then?

The public knows nothing will get done in Washington unless there is a crossover.
Both parties coming together.

One never hears Obama taking about that.

The public wants bills to pass that do not have additional, costly add-ons.

In order to pay for all the programs Obama is espousing; there will have to be TAX INCREASES.

The no taxing and rebates that Obama promises will be taken BACK as taxes on other entities.

Hope the debates will be different than previous debates. A different format; no audience clapping, booing.
Let's also hope that the moderator can control the debate and be fair in response time and not inject themselves in the debate.

Let the viewing public see and hear the candidates. No tv shots of the other candidate shaking their head, while the other candidate is responding. Just focus on the issues, don't put on a show.

I cannot wait for Biden to debate Palin. Then we will see what she is made of. I'm sure Biden will come away wishing he hadn't, but we should at least let the lady unpack first. I CANNOT WAIT!! Maybe if Obama quits avoiding McCain we will see that debate!
I have more confidence in Sarah Palin as President than Omama and Biden put together!

Kay C, I haven't heard the term "Palintology" before, but I could see it catching on. I see nothing in her background which shows she will work together with anyone that doesn't support her agenda. Whether it's creationism in the schools, or banning books in the library. The only place where there's "free choice" are the personal decisions regarding HER family. Of course that will change for other families in America if they should be elected.

I love Politics, the discussions, attacks, engagements and the personal dedication and commitment of Americans. The simple fact is that the Pendulum has swung too far Right! It’s time for it to swing back left towards the middle. The rich and powerful have dominated the world for too long. The poor and middle class have paid far too great a price, our service men and women the Ultimate Price for projecting the policies of this Republican administration. It’s time to shift the country towards the middle; thus allowing our country, the world to heal with Peace and Prosperity for all of God’s creatures not just the fortunate few at the top. Vote for America, the projection of Peace and Prosperity.

It's fun to see the obamanites sweating... it's about to slip away, and they know it. Also fun is seeing obama back peddle, yet again: 'I thought about joining the military'... 'I regret my Saddlebrook statement'... how pathetic.

While the Lower 48 news media is playing catch-up, the Anchorage Daily News has a complete Sarah Palin section with news, commentary, photos, video, blogs....
http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/

So C. Morris thinks it's fine to know all about Palin's personal life. Then let's look at Obama's. What about HIS kids? Hope they didn't get caught chewing gum in class. And how about Obama and Michelle. Who did they date before they got married? Hmmmm? Did Obama date any other person? How about all that cocaine he admits to snorting? What else? Where'd he go after Indonesia and who did he live with? And what about all those step-brothers and step-sisters, especially the one living in a mud hut in Kenya? Yah, let's open the personal lives. Should be VERRRRY interesting.

Hard to pick out the silliest thing in the above article, but try this one:

The journalist labels McCain spokesman Rick Davis "a former lobbyist" but fails to mention that David Axelrod, Obama's spokesman, is ALSO "a former lobbyist." See the Newsweek article at http://www.newsweek.com/id/138519
and decide for yourselves.

Obviously, the latest Gallup Poll numbers (so far unreported by the Swamp) showing McCain-Palin UP by 3% are frustrating the Swamp writers, who have to be wondering what more they have to do, how much miore biased their redporting must be, what further stories must they censor, in order to put over their man Obama.

Panic time in the Obama camp watching the slippage in the polls. Now they badger about McCain's age. That's as discriminatory as if there were constant reminders that Obama is black, which there are not. It is interesting that all the personal attacks are coming from the Obama people while the Republicans are not making personal attacks on Obama and Biden. Their lack of experience and extremist views on issues, yes. But on their families or their personal lives, no. Believe it, the American people don't like smears.

I want to know where Biden is on attacking Palin. I hear Obama saying things about her politics, but I haven't really seen Biden coming out front and going after her views. I would like to see that as much as I would love to see Palin take him on in debate. To many people talk about her like she's a bumpkin, it's the best cover for a bulldog hee.....never underestimate a country girl.

The stunned looks on the faces of Axelrod and Obama on today's talk shows reminds me of the stunned looks on Cubs fans when Bartman ruined their run to the World Series!

Face it, folks, Palin was a brilliant pick on many levels....the cameras are looking for HER, not Obama! Obama's campaign got their pockets picked & it is only now sinking in!!

The Obamabats can spew their political vomit all over Sarah. Palin, but you've already made this dumb mistake once before.

We're not as stupid as you think. BHO thought Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas had "vast" experience as a potential VP candidate, right?
Frickin' HYPOCRITES!

ONE question:
Can anyone tell me why the DNC and Barack Obama decided to ignore the most qualified person in their own party and her 18 million supporters?

Your party leadership has already proved their utter contempt for strong women.

I suggest you lay off Governor Palin before you REALLY hurt yourselves.

About speeches:

Here is what David Axelrod said regarding to Sarah Palin's qualification: "All she's done is read a couple of speeches"

Here is what Hillary Clinton said regarding Barack Obama's qualification:
"I know Sen. McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Sen. Obama has a speech he gave in 2002."

The Dems chose a black man because they believe he's the best. Why else would anyone choose a black man to run for the highest office in our country? His bid to run for president is far riskier for winning a presidential election than JFK's was because of his catholic religion. Why? Because there is still so much widespread racism in this country - especially coming from the Republicans. Forget about the Condaleezas and Colin Powells - Uncle Toms chosen for "window dressing".

With Dems putting a Catholic on the ticket in 1960 and then a black 48 years later is an indication the Dems are the party of change in the USA - the republicans bring the same "good old boys" to the table for President - all white and protestant Christian. The Dems were the first to put a woman on the VP ticket with Geraldine Ferraro. Have the Republicans EVER had a woman stump long and hard to become their candidate for President?

The Republicans ARE the same old same old - nothing new on the horizon with them. Nothing new in their thinking that the Dems didn't do first EXCEPT the Dems didn't start a war for no reason and dare the Al Queda with the words "Bring 'em on".

This morning I saw a TV ad for McCanine - which he approved. Why would anyone show a photo without sound bites of his opponent if he wasn't using scare tactics. McCanine wants the public to see "if you don't vote for me you will have a black man in office" - he's presenting himself as the racists' choice. Subliminal works well on Republicans and people who are afraid or hate people of color.

McCanine's pet pit bull dog lives in a state that has what percentage of black residents? 3.5% under the 4.1% hispanic.

The political pundits from today's morning shows are all indicating that Palin will NOT be interviewed by the mainstream media - the Repubs are worried she may have hoof and mouth disease but she may get fluff pieces with Good Housekeeping or House & Garden. Since the RNC she has been assigned some veteran handlers and speech writers since they were disappointed with her presentation and know she needs a lot of work before she can go into the mainstream.

If I were a Republican I wouldn't get smug - don't forget Obama still is points ahead of McCain on even the closest polls. McCanine's choice of a pit bull could prove to be the shot in the foot for his campaign.

Sarah Palin's Candidacy is an important challange. The Democrats who are frightened and looking filthy rags. A blogger of New York Times, criticizes her little attention to her last child with Down syndrome. If she had done like a pro-choice, such care would not be necessary. The baby would be dead. The U.S. elections will be exciting. It's fun pictures main Spanish newspaper (liberal) on the Republican Convention: Grandmothers screaming, old politicians, an Orthodox bishop… They are afraid. In the global village, these elections are very important for Europe: at stake choose between the culture of life and culture of death.
Santiago, (Granada, Spain)

She's fine - for Alaska. They say they love her, so they should keep her.

I love seeing liberals so scared "The One" isn't going to get elected. This again proves why we need a republican as president. Watching the democrats scurry to figure out how to defend Obama's zero-experience vs. Paliin's greater experience is hilarious. They have already given up. Axelrod was trying to divert attention away from how Obama is less experienced than Palin today on the news shows. Hilarious! They don't have a clue how to beat the Barricuda so they are trying to get people to stop talking about her and belittle her more by saying she just read a speech.

Keep it up liberals, the ladies in your party with half a brain will realize you have been full of crap all these years, you don't care about women.

LuLu writes: "I find it very interesting that so far all Sarah Palin has done is read a prepared "rah rah" speech" Isn't that what got this whole Obama thing started - his speech at the 2004 convention - it sure wasn't his accomplishments.

C Morris - if one of the dems children turned up pregnant you would never know about since the parents would have the child aborted right away.

When Axelrod is nervous, he finds everything hilareous. He needs a trip to MSNBC to have his ego stroked and let the cheerleaders assure him they're doing their best at cheap journalism to get Obama elected. After all there is only room for one "rock star" in this election.

Speaking about Obama's amazing military judgement, why does he keep threatening to invade Pakistan?? That is incredibly naive and stirring up resentment in Asia! George Mason University website;

Gordon,
We already know about the Obamas' personal lives, as well as the Swiftboat style lies about them.
What will be interesting are the yet to come revelations about the Palins'.
They will truly net the 'Jerry Springer' vote for sure.

Sounds like the leftists are scared of Sarah. There is an air of desperation in their attacks. 16 governors were elected to the office of President; two senators were elected to the office of President. TR was two years a governor, as was Grover Cleveland. John Edwards had 17 months of experience as an elected official when he was nominated as the VP candidate. Barack made the keynote address to the democratic convention in 2004; at the time he was just a state senator. What justifies that? Sarah has more than enough experience.

Just a minor point, Andrew - you state that making McCain's age and health an issue is tantamount to making Obama's race an issue. Since McCain is undeniably elderly, and his personal life experience probably hasn't increased his life expectancy much (I believe he was apparently in a war or something - I'd know more, but his campaign hasn't really focused on that), I think McCain's age is at least a moderately legitimate topic for discussion. Frankly, it would be less of an issue if he hadn't chosen the eminently unqualified, and possibly dangerously arrogant, Palin to succeed him, but he did choose her, and so the issue of his health must necessarily be considered. Obama's race, on the other hand, is unlikely to kill him; at least, I'd like to think America's progressed that far. My point is that age and race are not equivalent metrics for anything other than census forms.

Chuck you need to keep up with the news dude. GWB has already used Barack's idea.

September 4, 2008
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN -- American ground troops carried out a rare raid on Pakistani soil Wednesday, a cross-border attack from Afghanistan that left up to 20 people dead and provoked sharp condemnation from Pakistan's government.

The raid, described by Pakistani officials as having been carried out by helicopter-borne commandos in a hamlet just on the Pakistani side of the frontier, is likely to inflame tensions at a time when Islamic militants are already threatening to attack Pakistani officials and installations in retaliation for recent strikes against them by government forces.

HE WHO DOES NOT WANT TO BELIEVE IN PALINTOLOGY FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR THE RADICAL 'PALIN'

It's really PSD--Palin Derangement Syndrome.

Symptoms include sexist personal attacks, rumor mongering, vicious lies, and vitriolic verbal assaults on anyone who doesn't toe the party line.

You're writing the wrong story. The real story here is why the Republican party wants Sarah Palin out of Alaska so badly they are willing to run her for vice president. Start digging!

Love the ironic use of a term (paleontology) that derives from the study of fossils and dinosaur bones for a person who believes in creationism.

Well, it seems go old Larry Sabato was right Latest Gallup/USA poll has McCain & Palin up by 10 point over the "APPEASEMENT KID" with likely voters. Poor Axelrod he must be having a "STROKE"

VJ Machiavelli

If Palin had been McCain's first choice instead of 3rd (Ridge & Lieberman) I may have a little more confidence in her...

Axelrod was on MSNBC this a.m., he was spouting the talking points so fast that the hosts of the show could not even get a question in. The guy is in panic mode. Even they were frustrated that he would not let them ask any questions but instead he just kept talking over them. David, take a deep breath and relax, you're in friendly territory on MSNBC. Also heard this a.m. they yanked Oberman and Matthews from further election coverage and David Gregory will take over that duty - now there is a plus.

Sarah Snake Oil

It's incredible. All that is talked about is vetting, vetting, vetting. Finding out every meaningful fact about anyone running for office that could be important at some point. The entire process is meant to protect us from appointing or electing people to important positions with flaws that we should know about. It's a very big deal in every aspect of government and in life. It's a critical process even when applying for a routine job. A resume is a form of vetting. Then there is the most important office in the country. Probably in the world. The President of the United States. That person can cause the world to end with an order to launch nuclear missiles. That person is the subject of the most scrutinizing process one can imagine to determine everything worth knowing in their whole life. For our protection as citizens. So we can all be informed and protected with complete information to avoid electing a bad, immoral, inexperienced, bigoted, biased, or otherwise unqualified individual to an important position like say, Vice President of this country. That is the person who is one irregular heartbeat from the Presidency. What in the hell is Sarah Palin doing as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate? Are we so stupid that we can just sit by and watch as we are made fools of? We are served up another helping of B.S. like we were with the invasion of Iraq and asked to just accept it. We are looked upon as such fools because the people who advise the politicians know that they can give us a virtually anonymous Sarah Palin as the V.P. candidate and we will lert her in without question. Paradoxically, we will spend billions investigating junk like Whitewater, Watergate, Obamas Pastor and on and on. Why is there no hearings on Sarah Palin? I she not important enough?. What is her story everyone? This woman has no business being McCain's running mate even if she survived an intense public vetting process. She is too inexperienced no matter how qualified she might actually prove to be. And if 72 year old John McCain dies in office as President or cannot govern then it IS President Palin. Scared now? I am. An once again we, the idiots and suckers of America may get what we deserve because of our indifference to what's really important. How can John McCain have the best interests of this country at heart when he is willing to put a Sarah Palin on the ticket as our next President ih he cannot complete his term? At least Joe Biden, the Democratic V.P. candidate, for better or worse, knows his way around. And once again we all sit there as we unquestioningly buy the Brooklyn Bridge. There should be a public outcry about this Palin choice from every citizen. But no. It's Sarah Palin for Vice President. We are gobbling up the snake oil again. We are all collective morons for not having a national uprising about a total stranger being potentially put in charge of our country and our lives. No. We are too stupid for that kind of thinking. So, let's go check on the new O.J Simpson trial that starts today. His jurors will get much more vetting then Palin will.
