ST. PAUL - We're not entirely sure what Rick Santorum, the former senator from Pennsylvania, is saying about Sarah Palin serving as both mom and vice president here, but it sounds like he may want Todd Palin to stay home with the kids.
And with another one on the way, a grandchild, the job could be getting tougher.
"Women should have the right to do, in the workplace, what men do,'' the Republican Santorum told FOX News Channel's Megyn Kelly. "No one is saying mom shouldn't work, dad shouldn't work. What we're saying is, someone should be responsible for raising those children...a priority needs to be at home too."
Asked about a "conservative view'' of working mothers, Santorum suggested "it's all about stereotyping conservatives.
"I think most conservatives say moms have to have a major role, but dads have to have a major role in raising children too,'' he said. "What conservatives believe is that family has to come first, but that family has to come first...that does not mean that a mom and a dad both can't have careers."
