It's not enough that the McCain-Palin campaign insists that Barack Obama "pals around'' with terrorists, our colleague at Top of the Ticket notes.
Now Amazon.com, "one of the largest and most successful online merchandisers in the world, '' cashing in on that Halloween just days away, is offering an array of Obama masks. Among them was one vendor's product making a political play, as the Ticket's Andrew Malcolm noted.
The $49.95 Obama mask was listed as a "terrorist costume.''
"You read that right!''' Malcolm noted.
Amazon caught the listing and deleted the terrorist category for the Obama mask from the page on its Web-site. However, before that happened, The Ticket captured a photo of the advertisement.
For a while, Malcolm noted, there was the smiling Democrats' presidential nominee, under the headline "Terrorist Costume."
By comparison, a Hillary Clinton mask is going for only $6.95 (down from $12.99). The Sarah Palin mask is fetching $25. "The Joe Biden T-shirts and lifesize cutouts (sorry, no mask) have been marked down. The John McCain page offers paper masks for 99 cents and a rubber one for $12.90 (marked down from $16.99).''
The "Sexy McCain Trophy Perfect Wife Halloween Costume" goes for only $14.94 (no doubt because there's really not that much to it).
Tasteless, perhaps, but not outright terrorist-offensive.

That is outrageous. I usually shop there and will never shop there again, unless they apologize.

Angellight: What good are apologies, except to placate someone. They meant what they said or did, whatever the case may be, or they wouldn't have said or done it in the first place!!!!!

MDawson is right. THE ONLY way to make someone respect you is to hit them in the pocket. These folks will not stop doing all of this stuff until it costs them. An empty apology is free and most folks already know what they will say before their "infraction". Even a drunk driver will get on the stand and apologize with tears streaming. AFTER they are cought and your loved one is dead.

Amazon should be sued! And they should list Bush and Cheney's masks under "war criminals"
I will not ever buy anything on Amazon either. Lets email amazon and ask for answers!

You people really need to wake up. This listing has nothing to do with Amazon directly. Any amazon seller can create a listing with whatever key words they want. With more than 1.4 million registered sellers (more than Ebay has) you can't really expect them to be able to police every new listing. This was just some clever seller trying to get alot of free publicity for their listing (which was accomplished quite well). Amazon's only responsibility was to remove the listing, which they did as soon as they found out.

Boycott Amazon.com. I urge everyone to call and cancel your accounts. lets not give Amazon a single penny of your business.
I just called and asked them to completely purge my account.
Amazon needs to issue a public apology to set things right.

Okay if Amazon pulled the Obama mask from the "Terrorist Costume" search then why does McCain come up when I try the search?
Posted by: Cassandra | October 27, 2008 4:48 PM
I'm fairly sure that this wasn't Amazon's direct doing - Amazon acts as a storefront to many retailers, including one called "DISGUISE". I doubt there's much oversight into how the retailers categorize their products, as that would be way too much overhead.

Here you go libs, something to cheer you up - something from Fox News:
A Halloween display in liberal West Hollywood, California, is rubbing some residents the wrong way. A local TV station reports neighbors are not happy with Chad Michael Morrisette, whose home features a mannequin hanging from a noose. The dummy is dressed as governor Palin with glasses, a beehive wig and a red business suit.
One neighbor says, "When you're using a vice presidential candidate with a noose around her neck, that to me has gone too far... it's just wrong."
One tourist called the display cruel, but Morisette defends his exhibit, saying his subjects are fair game during Halloween season.
But he admits, "If we had done it with Barack Obama, people would've probably thrown things through our windows. The image of a hanged black man is a lot more intense than the image of a hanged white woman."
I guess he shuld have just had the image of the Gov Palin doll being raped - it would have been more tasteful?

Terry, the Palin effigy hanging was wrong. In fact, the man who did it was featured by Keith Olbermann as the "Worst Person in the World" tonight. (I believe Olbermann is a liberal, by the way). And as a matter of fact, someone did hang Obama in effigy at a school. No, no one broke any windows over it. Here's a link of that:

I hope your point was not that the Amazon mask incident was was okay because of the Palin effigy incident. You'd be wrong.

Good grief people, I guess common sense isn't so common anymore.
Any customer can add a search tag to an item to make it easier for future customers to find. Someone added terrorist costume to the mask, clearly not Amazon.
But go ahead and keep believing whatever story the media spins it as like the sheep that you are, because we all know the biggest online shopping website in the world, based in one of the most liberal cities in the world (seattle) wants to alienate half its customers. People amaze me.

Hello from Amazon.com.
Thank you for contacting us with your concern about the search results for the Barack Obama Halloween mask.
We'd like you to know that the search result for that item was modified by an Amazon.com customer using a "tagging" feature available on our website. The result was not provided by an Amazon employee or an Amazon search algorithm.
The search tag was removed quickly after it was discovered.
We have fixed the problem and apologize for any offense it created.
Thank you for contacting us.

this is so so so so funny
Posted by: T | October 28, 2008 11:59 PM
Too Funny. I bet you all would feel different if it was McCain or Bush.
Posted by: Freddy | October 30, 2008 8:54 PM
So... basically all of you are upset by this? You don't think that stuff like this happens to McCain, or Bush or anyone? You all are just trying to find a way to bash McCain because you have no other way. In my eyes, he might as well be a terrorist, because he surely isn't a U.S. citizen. He STILL has not shown his birth certificate, believe it or not. So stop trying to bash Amazon and McCain, especially as one person him/herself that works for Amazon could have done it. It's not the WHOLE company. I'm sure some workers of Amazon are Democrats for Obama to.
Get a life people.

You sure can tell a bunch of DumbAss Obama supporters. Amazon can not control all of their listings. If you wernt so damn stupid you would realize that, but then again you are for Obama who does hang with the bad guys. He only won the election because he is Black and Democrat. Osama Bin Ladn would probably won if he ran under those conditions. Of coarse he probably was a major campaign contributor. There is a lot of shady money that bought this election!!!
