The Swamp

by Frank James

Looks like Robert Horr in New Gloucester, Maine wasn't won over by Gen. Colin Powell's recent endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama.

Horr has erected a 15-foot tall sign with paintings that depict Sen. John McCain as a young Navy pilot and Obama in the turban and robe he briefly donned during his 2006 visit to Kenya.

The sign points out that McCain has military experience and Obama doesn't. But I'm guessing that even if Obama had served in the military, Horr might have still found a pretext for this sign.

The Associated Press report indicates that people driving by are slowing down to look at Horr's sign. Just wondering, if there's a rear-end accident caused by drivers distracted by the sign, will Horr have any legal liability?

Our Nation does not need this type thinking imposed on others..Must be a very shallow person..

The sign illustrates the truth-
Seems that Comrade Obama's socialstt can't take it-

These are replicates of actual photos so why this is a problem for the you, Mr. James?

Dear LOAM if you want the truth VOTE for Obama.

LOAM...You post a lot about socialism. My guess is you don't really know what it is.

Bob Horr [sic] certainly has smoked one too many lobsters in his day. He is the typical republican supporter. Smear and fear. They talk a lot about thrown under the bus...but it seems they must spend a lot of time under their beds.

I thought the libs were always supportive of the arts?

Know enough about it not to vote for Comrade Obama--

Nice diggs.
You can take the trailer trash out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of the trailer trash...

Well, it is certainly provocative, but it is free speech. If the sign was commercial, then the town would have a right to weigh in on the issue. I imagiine that the received legal advice that said this is covered under the first amendment.

I used to hear people say, "I don't like to hear what you have to say, but I defend your right to say it with my life."

I don't hear anybody say that anymore.

I noticed the orange traffic cone lawn ornaments and a front yard BBQ grill right before tuning out the artwork or its content.
