Edison Lee's election
by Mark Silva
Late-night comics aren't the only ones making hay with the election underway.
Chicago cartoonist John Hambrock, creator of the daily comic strip, The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee, which tells the tale of a 10-year-old hard-core Democrat, launches a two-week election storyline starting today and ending, well, on Nov. 4.
Hambrock's work is billed as "an intelligent left-leaning comic strip that masterfully mixes social commentary and humor. The creation of the Chicago graphic designer revolves around a perhaps "atypical 10-year-old boy, genius, who along with his parents, grandfather and talking lab rat, comment on current political, economic and social concerns facing Americans today.
"The humor of The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee revolves around Edison's precocious observations and interactions with his multi-generational, middle-class family who foster his intellectual curiosity and growth,'' a publicist says. "Originally inspired by his two young "brainiac" sons, Hambrock admits that Edison has subconsciously evolved into his own alter ego.''
Should have plenty to talk about for the next two weeks.
