Caught MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann last night and got caught up on Joe "the Plumber" Wurzelbacher's (JTP) doings. I learned he's contemplating a run for Congress, has an odd opinion on where Barack Obama stands on Israel, has hired a publicist and is trying to get a country music contract. Olbermann, as one might expect, savaged JTP.
I also learned from Olbermann that Fox News's Shep Smith took JTP to task for misstating Obama's support of Israel, as Jon Stewart did last night too.
I'm thinking Joe's about 13.5 minutes through his 15-minutes of fame.
By the way, Olbermann says the line attributed to Abraham Lincoln about not being able to fool all of the people all the time was actually not said by Lincoln. There's one more thing I thought was true that isn't.

Comments
Sam the plummer who makes 40 grand a year. Such a blind Republican, that he would bite the hand that is trying to feed him. Talking about money he does not even have. Talking about a company he does not even own. Another unvetted McShame supporter.

It's amazing who the right will hold up as their idols. All one needs to do is follow the agenda...and their brilliant in their eyes. This man is a typical empty head oaf who well defines the modern day republican. Long on hate and ignorance, short on intelligence. He repeatedly talked about middle America...as if what Joe? That's more American than the rest of the country? Joe shakes his head in agreement to an issue he knows nothing about like some plastic dog that sits on your dashboard. Now he is going to write a book. Will it be about ..how to plumb without a license, or how to stump for a candidate while knowing absolutely nothing about policy or issues. Palin brings him to the rallys and talk about his brilliant mind and steel toed shoes. Hate to tell you Palin....but plumbers don't wear steel toed boots. The republican party has turned into a bunch of amatures that need only pass on the hate agenda to be a star.

Keith Olbermann is an idiot mean spirited socialist. He is in the tank for Obama. Nobody watches MSNBC anyway.
Shepherd Smith is a disgrace to FOX News he is too liberal and also in the tank for the Great One.
The driveby media is so foolish Frank why bother with these idiots? Jerry White, Springfield, IL

Great post Jerry.....Olbermann is a mean spirited "liberal" and Shepard Smith isn't a mean enough "conservative" for you on a channel in the tank for McBush.
Brilliant!!!!

Am I the only one who thinks it is fishy that this Joe the Plumber has the same last name of Charles Keating's (as in Keating 5 fame) son-in-law, who just happens to live in Ohio, too?

I'd rather be a Socialist than a Fascist any day of the week.
Posted by: justsayin | October 30, 2008 10:14 AM
Hey Jerry White - Olbermann and also Rachel Maddow are both beating O'Reilly in ratings - so there's a ton of people watching MSNBC. Try to know the facts before you spout off, I know, that's tough for a knee-jerk Republican to do.
Olbermann is brilliant and insightful and has been an ardent supporter of the truth. He's also been bashing the idiot Bush/Cheney facists since the beginning - we love him! Throw the lying corrupt Republicans out of office on Nov. 4!
Olbermann is exposing Bush/Cheney for what they are - the worst adminstration in history, ever!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

MSNBC shows it's bias continuously. The media watchdog groups report that 71% of it's comments on McCain and Palin are negative but only 7% of it's comments on Obama and Biden are negative.
This is shameful but indicative who they desire to be elected.
I would be shocked if Olbermann, Matthew or Maddow ever looked into one of Obama's past relationships!

Do people actually watch this guys show? How does anyone take this guy seriously?
^^^
Six minutes of TV time to go after a guy on a personal level- the pettiness and immaturity of Olbermann's comments really say way more about his ego and lack of character than anything Joe has said...
all because Joe asked his messiah a legit question- and caused the annointed one to actually verbalize what he believes in?
^^^
Joe should sue Olberman for slander...
Posted by: heartburn | October 30, 2008 10:58 AM
Hey Pat H. Why is it unfair for the media to support the candidate they feel is better? How come it was OK when they supported Bush through all the lies of the current administration. If they can't find the same number of negative things to say about both candidates should they make things up. Oh wait, we call that Fox News

Pat H. -- And Fox News is what -- bipartisan????

Pat H, you may be right about the reporting percentages, but I can’t think of anything that McCain and Palin have done, or said, that’s positive. They, like every republic talking head, only use fear mongering and hate tactics. What goes around, comes around.

Swannee: " Hey Jerry White - Olbermann and also Rachel Maddow are both beating O'Reilly in ratings"
What are you smoking. The entire MSNBC lineup, combined, cannot beat BOR.

umm hey swanee you sound like the norm ignorant dem that justs votes for the person he thinks will advance his poverty stricken life...obviously you have never read a news article based on either countdown oreilly factor or rachell maddow show....
Oreilly factors nearly doubles Countdown audience, and Miss Maddown also does not come close to Hannity and Colmes.....nor does the countdown replay beat on the record...
so you need to think before you speak....even if your an ignorant dem or a far righty...
just use your brains people...thats all teh world needs...which 90 percent of partisans do not...

If I could sum up the John McCain candidacy in one word it would be: DISGRACE.
What a DISGRACE to repeatedly lie to the American people and think that we are too stupid to know it. Did you learn nothing from the last 8 years. Bush lied and we the people woke up....never again!!!
It's one thing to misstate the facts in a public speech, but honestly recant them when called on it. It's another to repeatedly and intentionally lie over and again; the very same lies that have been debunked by fact checkers and reputable independent sources. We have a word for that in our system of law: FRAUD. Intentional misrepresentation made to induce the other person to rely upon the misstatements. John you are committing Fraud. Sarah you are committing Fraud.
It is is a DISGRACE to foment fear with guilt by association lies and innuendo.
John McCain says he is a maverick. Then why does he adopt the Karl Rove win at all costs, lie, cheat and steal (take your pick, socialist, terrorist, PLO, tax and spend liberal) approach to his campaign? Because he has nothing else to fight with. Be a real maverick John and talk about the issues. If you can't do that at least show some self respect. After this election - and you lose - your career is over.
It's a DISGRACE to have Sarah Palin on the ticket.
There are so many more qualified women in the Republican Party who could have actually helped the ticket. She's been a drag on the ticket to everyone except the most fervent followers of the Extremist Right Wing Religious Branch of the Republican Party. Note to Sarah: What would Jesus do? Answer: Tell the truth and stop lying.
It is a DISGRACE to our country that McCain has tried to hide is association with George Bush.
He's voted with Bush over 90 percent of the time. He's publicly claimed he's more conservative and more Bush like than any other Republican candidate for President in this election cycle. But when the wind blows the other way, he's not a Bush guy. Sorry John, we remember what you say and you can't deny that one Maverick.
The public was tricked by GW, Rove and Cheney. It won't be tricked this time. John McCain and Sarah Palin - your campaign has been a DISGRACE to your country and to the democratic system of government.
John McCain is a war hero for his suffering in Viet Nam. His image is severely tarnished now and so goes the thirst for power.
Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely

I can not believe the colossal ignorance or just plain stupidity of some (all?) right wingers. You think JTP is real? Wake up, the guy is a plant. The McCain campaign has been a joke since the announcement of Palin and short of massive voter fraud on the part of the Republicans, John McCain is going to lose. Rightly so.
Posted by: Tim | October 30, 2008 12:20 PM
Hey Pat H! You berate MSNBC, can you do the same for the opposition? FAUX Noise has as bad a record in opposition to Obama and in favor of McCain. Speak up please! I can't hear you berating FAUX Noise!
And I'm afraid you haven't been paying attention! Olbermann HAS been looking into these associations and finding that the substance is weak, weaker than McCain's associations with Keating and with McCain's associations with over 150 lobbyists.
Posted by: Colleen | October 30, 2008 12:31 PM
Tim is quite right.
JTP is a McCain plant. I realized that from the start. McCain was just looking for a quote he could use against Obama and he found it.
But I think Obama was just kidding with JTP. I mean, come on, if you make more than 98% of your fellow citizens, you can't spread the wealth? You are benefitting from so many things of which you had NOTHING to do. And you can't afford to share your profits - most of which come, not from your hard work but from the hard work of others?
This is really why TARRIFFS do matter. Free trade is a joke.
Guys who make more than 98% of their fellow countrymen don't mind selling to their fellow countrymen or taking advantage of all of the goodies taxes have paid for - roads, schools, police, infrastructure, shipping ports, military, etc..
But when it comes to helping to pay for these things (thru taxes), they want to ship jobs abroad. Fine. Ship your jobs abroad and pay a tarriff to get your goods to AMERICA.

I can see it now; The 2012 GOP ticket;
Palin/JoeTP

Yeah, the guy turned into Murrow for a while right before our eyes.

Posted by: Allajoke | October 30, 2008 3:26 PM
I'm thinking Shep is not long for FOX after bucking the party line like that. What was he thinking...OMG, could it have been "the truth". The don't like that kind of talk at FOX. He gone!

Forget joe the plumber, and wendy the waitress.....how about Barack the President?

After all this talk about 'joe the plumber' will John McCain be referring to Barack Obama next wednesday as 'Barack the President'?

"Swannee: " Hey Jerry White - Olbermann and also Rachel Maddow are both beating O'Reilly in ratings"

Then why has BOR (love that acronym BTW!) been claiming that Nielsens must be biased since Olbermann and Maddow have been beating him in the ratings, for over a week now?
Hmmm...
