The Swamp

Barack Obama didn't only buy a half-hour of time on four national television networks tonight -- he also got a free ride on The Daily Show, the Comedy Central rendition of "truthiness.'' Here's an early preview, from the campaign pool report.

How is Obama holding up, host Jon Stewart asked in the taping.

"We are now counting down every single vote,'' Obama, the Democratic nominee for president, said. "And the crowds are terrific. And I think we've got a good shot at this thing."

Asking about former President Bill Clinton campaigning for Obama today in Florida, Stewart said: I know Florida.. Many of my people go there to retire...You might want to hold the rally early. They don't like to miss their shows at night or the early bird special at the diner."

"No comment on that Jon,'' Obama said, with an explanation for his reticence. "I'm trying to win Florida."

Asked about his "infomercial'' airing on four television networks tonight, Obama called it a "story about what's happening to families all across America. We've got four families that we feature. All of them have great hopes but all of them are struggling too, and we want to talk about what the next four years would mean to them.

"What I hope people come away with is, I think they'll say to themselves this election is very important,'' Obama said of the four families featured in his half-hour ad. "These four families that have been featured remind me either of myself or people that I know, and I think they'll have a better sense of exactly what I want to do as president.

Stewart asked: "If you do win, is that a mandate for socialism?"

"I think that there's a certain segment of hardcore Sean Hannity fans that probably wouldn't want to go have a beer with me,'' Obama conceded. "There's no doubt about that.

"But I think that the average voter, they're saying to themselves, 'What's all this stuff about? I'm trying to figure out whether I can hang on to my house.'"

"hat whole socialism argument, that doesn't fly too well,'' Obama said. "The evidence of this seems pretty thin. I said today that I think they found proof that when I was in kindergarten I shared some toys with my friends and that's clearly a sign of subversive activity.

"I can tell you Jon that being on your program is further evidence of these tendencies,'' Obama said with a laugh from his host. "I actually think that this is the time to want to be president.

"If you went into publics service thinking you could have an impact, now is the time when you can have an impact..''

Hasn't America been socialist since the TR admin.?
Public lands, 40 hr. work week, child labor laws, workmen's comp, unions, unemployment comp., Social Security,
roads, city water, Medicare, are all socialist endeavors.

I loved his 30 minute spot, it was so real, so heartwarming. I heard things my mother used to tell me. I'm a 60 year old grandmother, retired and take nine pills a day.

Let us not forget that both Senator McCain and Senator Obama are good people. They both love our country and they have both spent their lives in service to their community and country. Senator McCain is about the past, Senator Obama is about the future.

By the definition of McCain/Palin/Fox News every President of the last 80 or so years has been a socialist. It's a meaningless attack. McCain/Palin/Fox News just throw nonsense at the wall and hope some of it sticks.

Ahh its going to be a good feeling to put the top down on the convertible, cast my vote, then relocate home and doctor up a frozen pizza for dinner.

I am the person Joe the Plumber said he aspires to be (before he became a celebrity, that is): I own a business with 17 employees and approx. $3 million a year in revenues. My net income puts me in the upper brackets. My business prospects will not be hurt by Obama -- they would be helped by him. I can afford another 3% in taxes and I'm voting for Obama because:

1) Obama's economic polices make more sense than the failed "supply-side" economics of the past 8 years. It's not theory anymore. Those policies failed and McCain wants to go even further with them. McCain's economics will bury the small-business "Joe the plumbers" of the nation.

2) Obama wants to unite America - McCain and Palin want to divide it. To quote Palin on the Rush Limbaugh show (when talking about negative slams against Obama): "I have nothing to lose by this". It's all about McCain and Palin for them. Obama's about America.

2) McCain promised America he'd run a "clean campaign". It's the worst bunch of lies and stretched truths I have ever seem. He's lost his integrity and lost control of his campaign. He's made a terrible decision in a running mate (his most critical decision so-far, and not one that was well vetted or thought-through). He's erratic on the economic crisis and flip-flopped on many positions. Bottom line is if he can't run his campaign he can't run America. Many of his own long-time associates in the Republican party are endorsing Barack.

3) Obama has been "presidential", calm, strategic and steadfast throughout his campaign. He's cool under fire, intellectually interested in getting the issues right, and moderate in his responses. His campaign is well-run and he is getting things done. He has been tested in the primaries and is still proving he can lead and make good decisions.

There are many other reasons but the bottom line is Obama will raise America's world-stature again, and has the right approach to improve the quality of life again for the majority of Americans in all economic levels.

American Voters Overcome the Fear of Voting For An African American President 2008

Although Senator Barack Obama acknowledges he has some success in many states, one week from Election, November 4, 2008, Obama realizes the necessity of having allies like President Clinton and Senator Clinton, willing to campaign in the battleground states. Obama may not have acquired some of these successes without the assistance of the Clintons. Both former President Clinton and Senator Clinton. The Clintons possess prestige and have clout with the voters in the battleground areas. Obama has been blessed to work out action plans with the Clintons as allies to come to Obama's support. The Obama team know the advantage of the Clintons, in behalf of Senator Obama's "race to the White House." Obama sees glimpses of the reality, yet hidden under the fears of registered voters that are confused, one way or another.

Hundreds of Endorcements for Senator Barack Obama, President of USA 2008, including General Collin Powell, Oprah Winfrey, many news media outlets, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Anchorage News Media, and ______________________________________________________________________

who are proven dependable allies, gives Obama a different picture of America and the world. If you can see an ally, white, black, or another, really acting like a humanitarian, that is entirely different than the picture you've gotten most of the days of your life, up til now. It gives one some hope. And, in this case, Obama be energized, hopeful, Obama can pass more positiveness and hope to the listeners and direect and indirect supporters, now and early future.

What's better is that Obama is able to see clear enough to recognize the piles of distress patterns demonstrated by the McCain/Palin in their rallies, shouting from the platforms of America, lies and deceitful allegations. Obama realizes that the hate, and other seemingly patterns of distress, are not the humanitarian hearts of the McCain/Palin team, but the oppressive acquired views from their past learnings in oppression. Chronic behavior patterns are acquired during the early delopment stages of any one person. As adults, the bad/oppressive behavior patterns learned as a child, are re-stimulated by environmental actions from those we, adults, surround ourselves with. You may be uplifted to know that patterns are not people. Patterns are recorded messages mistored or stored in our minds.

Obama/Biden team have collectively, set necessary practical goals as to where and how their campaign will end, using all positive good, taking allowable chances of making contact with the American voters, publicly and privately. Programs are continually set-up to reach every possible voter. those active and inactive, complacent and apathetic, young and old in America.Obama is talking about the United States of America and the positive change America needs to positively and progressively move ahead. Together , and in unity, as Americans. Obama shares that no American is too different and too affected by our early childhood taught behavior patterns that we cannot make and be apprt as well as benefit from the positive and necessary change that will be made under a new and unique Obama/Biden leadership of America.

Intermission:

I was watching afternoon news on MSNBC--David was introducing the news. As he strolled through his news briefs, he saw a lot of negatives which he voiced "What is causing all these people to go nuts?"

Answer: Obama, a black man running 'for real' (seriously), for the USA President and has a very good chance of winning, is "unreal" to traditional America, possibly, the wide-world. This reality has re-stimulated a major portion of America, specifically, southern arena. Re-stimulation of traditional chronic patterns of Oppression in many forms: adultism, sexism, racism, classism, etc. Racism appears to be the major form of oppression, now, because of Obama's skin color. The anger that has been stirred against the white Americans that are advocates in some positive support of Obama can be properly identified as internalized oppression(racism)(white against white; black against black). Who would have ever thought that good and positive changes would stir up such emotional trauma. Well, David, this kind of emotional relief is positively identifed as "discharge". Harvey Jackins followed through his vision in looking at the "Human-side of Human-Being". Harvey implemented his Psychological procedures and documented his findings as he made actual progress throughout his life. Harvey Jackins properly developed and implemented his findings until his death 1999. Harvey's son, Tim, may be continuing his father's studies, even today. You can find more information on this most necessary documentation under "Re-evaluation Counseling". Re-evaluation Counseling appears to be the best psychological evidence of identifying and resolving the latern and chronic behavior patterns that are, suddenly, growing rapidly, and disporportionally, in our American Society surrounding this unique presidential race to the "white house" 2008. The realistic possibility of an African American man elected as President of these United States of America 2008. This is truly a contradition of what your fore-parents and mine lived and breathed in, yesterday. It was, inignorance that statements were made and limits were set on our human intelligence. And, though, there is some upheaval ofanger, fears, and other emotional responses, the changes being made are good and necessary. Believe me, when I tell you, there are resolutions, already documented, tried and in focus to deal with these changes. And, you, David, like many others, are part of the solution that will, intelligently , put every puzzle piece in place.

Now back to Part 2 OF
American Voters Overcoming Fears to Voting for An African American Man for President of the USA 2008

Obama/Biden, in spite of such mixed reactions and opposition against them, in America, is to give priority and attention to the Middle-class, to seek them out in America, to give them some priority tax relief that they did not receive in the past. Allies of Obama/Biden, have voiced their sentiments and know that there's no plan of the Obama/Biden team to disregard other Americans. Middle-class Americans, in a capitalist society have demonstrated their plight in AMerica.

"We are now counting down every single vote", Obama said.

Yea...The dead votes, the illegal votes, the Mickey Mouse votes, the Acorn votes and on and on and on...

Paulo

Well said, Saxxon. Well said.

When speaking about "sharing his toys" in kindergarten, I noticed he didn't say that he GAVE his toys to the other kids

I don't think you start your career working out of a church basement organizing fired steelworkers and end up as a "centrist".

The Republican Revolution, as Peggy called it, is now like the Titanic, upended and about to make it shuddering descent to the bottom of the sea.

So now a few fix up projects.

Truth Commission.
Judiciary Act of 2009.
Corporate Governance Reform Act of 2009.
Federalization of Federal Election Act of 2009.
Extension of criminal statutes of limitation.
Fairness Doctrine redivivus.
Internal Revenue Code of 2009.
O, and of course the repeals:
IRAIRA
Patriot Act
Etc. & so forth.

Hey, I've got a good idea. Let's elect someone president who has no relevant work experience, hangs out with communists, and whose church for the past 20 years preached hatred towards white people (and Jews).

Sold.

So what Obama is really saying is that he wants to share MY TOYS with HIS FRIENDS. Brilliant. No thank you. I make donations to the charities of my choice. Not to the mighty government redistribution center of America. Charities get reviewed, have standards, and go under if managed badly. The government gets a pass on all of those things.

Now McCain is playing the Cuban fear card in Southern Fla. He is comparing Obama with Fidal Castro and Hugo Chavez--who would nationalize an individual's business. See, McCain Plays on Fear of 'Comunismo', by Suzanne Goldenberg.

America under Obama alredy exists. It's called the state of Illinois under Democrat control.

Be careful what you wish for.

Members of his his Senate staff were baffled why a constituent such as I wanted to talk with them about the issue of Medicare managed care.. Several even pointed out to me that people in his office would not be appropriate to speak with about this because he is on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. I responded by saying that I thought that a US Senator, who claims to be an advocate for heatlh care, would want to know about specific incidents of wrongdoing by Bush’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. I was wrong.

I guess that I should have asked how much it would cost me for the time of day. They are selling dream dates with his campaign advisors, they might as well throw some of his Senate advisors too.

No Obama.
No McCain
with either one
there will be pain.

Get with the program, Mark. Literally. "Truthiness" is Colbert's bailiwick, not Stewart's. (Though, as a great fan of truthiness, Colbert might actually be okay with your approximate accuracy.) Speaking of socialists, Colbert interviewed the actual real Socialist candidate for president -- who was highly unimpressed by Obama's decidedly capitalist credentials. Take THAT, silly little Republican playground bullies.

Lay off the drugs grannie...They are affecting your mind. But keep them around, you will need them to stave off the depression you are going to feel when you find out Obama has been lieing to you and he is a do nothing President...

I'm voting for Obama. I had my mind made up a long time ago. What is beginning to stand out the most about his campaign is that he is telling us what he'll try to do FOR us. McCain can only talk about what Obama supposedly lacks. McCain never presents what he'll do for us. I don't care for the negative campaign style. It just makes McCain look like a poor decision maker.

I don't think the socialist charges are fair. Mr. Obama may want to take the US toward socialist principles, but those might turn out to be a good thing after so many years of capitalism under Bush. I've heard many positive things about the British socialist form of national medicine, for example, so maybe Mr. Obama can follow that example and implement socialist principles after proven examples.

Jon Stewart is the same person that said "F. U. Sarah Palin and all her supporters".

That Obama guy should run for office. I saw this TV show that had him talking like he wants the job to remake America.

But every election since I was 21, everyone that was running for office said they were going to lower my taxes. By my count, it should be so low now that my taxes for over 50,000 should be in the range of 1.43.

Should we believe this change guy, or is it just another lie that we'll let pass like all the other ones.

Many cultures place great value on its older generation, knowing that there is wisdom and knowledge that can only be gained through experience. I hope Americans will remember this on Tuesday when they go into the voting booth. Senator John McCain has it! Senator Obama may in another ten or twenty years.

I felt pride in my country watching Barack Obama's infomercial. Not that I don't usually feel that way, but tonight, I remembered sitting in my living room watching the race riots when I was an impressionable teenager, feeling shame and pity, and wondering how challenging and painful it might be to be black in America. Then, years later, after progress seemed to have been made, I moved to Europe and saw how much more open-minded and embracing they were to different ethnic groups and realized how far we still had to go. Well, tonight I sat with tears in my eyes and thought back to those times and wondered how MLK, Jr and RFK would feel tonight, watching a young, intelligent man of mixed race, bravely step to the head of the line and offer his services and talents to lead our country. I am so proud of the wonderful country that finally made this possible... and am happier than ever to call America my home.

Obama looked great on Stewarts show. Very relaxed and glowing. He made some wonderful statements about everyone working together, not seperately, and has a good sense of humor.

Everyone should vote for him, he's the best thing to hit politics since JFK without question.

This is the closest Barack Obama will come to answering a question from the media for the entire last month of the campaign.

Why does the media allow Biden and he to ignore them? Why does the press not criticize them for failing to allow them to ask him questions?

Obama is hiding from the press and Biden has been sent to a "time out" room and the press still praise them!

Why?

I believe when Senator Obama shared his toys in kindergarten, that was a voluntary act. Socialism has to do with the confiscation of toys to give to another.

I understand that Senator Obama was a pretty good student, I ownder if he would have mind having shared some of his points from his test scores, that he worked hard to earn, with the less fortuante or just plain lazy student to even things out?

Just to continue the thought of Obama's grades - if the senator were forced to give some of his test scores to the less deserving students, do you think the senator would have studied hard for the next test knowing that the results of his hard work would be confiscated and given to those less deserving?

Socialism does not work - it is a lesson that was tried in thi country by the Pilgrims 400 years ago and failed.-

Ok, so here's the deal. I'll help you out, but say goodbye to the American dream of financially doing well. Hmm.
No more dreams? People who vote for BO are losers.

If I were a presidential adviser to President elect Obama, I'd strongly recommend that in order to stay in touch with the American public, the liberal side of, "Joe the plumber," I'd watch the Jon Stewart show. It cuts through all the S--- and and keeps us in tune with what's really important.

Barack Obama truly is the right man to vote for. Please let's not make the same mistake a third time by putting McCain in there. That would be disastrous for this country and the world. If anyone can bring us out of this brink of disaster, it is Obama. He is young, smart, and looking out for EVERYONE'S best interest.

Adding to C.Morris,

Land grant colleges, GI bill that housed and educated millions of vets, and generally broad access to public education. I like to think of the massive public science efforts. I like these things and the idea of having weekend.

This has been a textbook example of the use of propaganda. Hobama has been planning this for years. Why doesn't anyone care? Why do so many supposedly 'smart' people fall for this? Because it's popular. It's easy. Or maybe reporters are all on the take?

I AM A RETIRED USAF COLONEL WHOSE GRADUATE STUDIES WITH SCHOLARSHIPS (SOCIALIST?) WERE FOCUSED ON SOVIET STUDIES WHERE I LEARNED THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOVIET COMMUNISM AND DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM, THE LATTER REALLY REFERRING TO THE COMMON GOOD. IT IS RESUCE WHEN HUMBLE TAX PAYERS BAIL OUT THE INCOMPETENT, GREEDY CROOKS ON WALL STREET AND THEIR PUPPETERS LIKE GREENSPAN, AND SOCIALISM WHEN ONE HELPS THE LESS FORTUNATE. HOW TRAGICALLY SAD IT IS THAT
NEOCON PUNDITS DO NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. BY THE WAY, GUESS WHO IS PAYING McBUSH´S MEDICAL INSURANCE? YOU AND ME VIA OUR TAXES, BUT THE ANTI-SOCIALIST WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT. COVERAGE FOR HIM FROM OUR TAXES OK, RANTS AGAINST SO- CALLED SOCIAL MEDICINE FOR 46 MILLION AMERICANS WHO HAVE NO INSURANCE.

what is with this crying over socialism and not doing well? it's just whining.

OBAMA PLANS TO BRING THE TAXES BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE UNDER CLINTON.

He's letting a tax break that Bush created for the rich EXPIRE.

Why is that such a big deal?

You people will say anything to put down Obama because you are SCARED RACISTS.

Plain an' simple. GROW UP.

stop lying said:

"Why do so many supposedly 'smart' people fall for this?"

Perhaps you should consider that YOU MAY BE WRONG.

Can't get your head around that can you?

I have sat back, watched and listened this whole campaign. I am an independent. I have a business and being a business owner, I am constantly looking for ways to increase my bottom line. Lets face it, thats why I'm in a business to begin with. After hearing Obama,s tax plan I am starting to get a little worried. My taxes will go up 4% on the federal level. Counting in state and other taxes I will be paying 6 out of every 10 dollars I make to these taxes. Will unfortunately the only way I can make this money back is to cut my labor down by reducing pay and eliminating job slots. Sorry folks but its all I can do. It looks like Obama is going to win so I have no choice. I will also be reducing employee numbers if the minimum wage goes to 9.50. I have to protect my bottom line. Well sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I wish Obama the best of luck.

I am a reasonable person. I look at History and reflect on what I can learn from it. I see a candidate who over and over again is denying ties to friends and/or colegues from the past who are radicals or racists who hate white america. I come from a country were socialism by the government has taken a hold and strangled the economy to a point were only the rich get richer. The poor make an average of $150 dollars a month. Teachers make $700 dollars a month, and you cannot find a job even if you are educated. The only way to move up the chain is to know someone and work in the government. I hope we learn from the past and see what our politicians always promise and never keep. Everyone should vote but be aware of the change you are looking for. As it is unemployment is moving upward and businesses are seriously looking to other countries to take their jobs do to high taxes and Unions who keep promising better wages and more benefits. We have always prospered in a Capitalistic Economy. Were the private sector has provided compansation by competitive pricing within the market place. If the government is running everything with no enforcement or regulatory engament of anykind, than we will be forced to take what they give us and suffer with minimum income levels.
I don't know about YOU but I someday would like to be like Bill Gates - God willing.

Everyone knows that there are things that are said during elections just for the sake of appealing to the voter. That being said, when looking at both men and what they stand for, what they might try to do which will affect ALL of us. I think that we all should remember that the president doesn't just go in and make new laws all on his own. It begins with our representatives, congressmen, and senators. All elections are important not just the presidential election. I am definetely ready for a change I have had enough of big companies,CEO's and the right wingers with all there scare tactics. I believe that all Americans have the RIGHT to healthcare, and education free of charge!!! I see nothing wrong with that. Everyone is so worried about me me me. We are are brothers and sisters keepers. Bush has been nothing but oppression for a vast majortiy of Americans that have paid their more than fair share of taxes and for what?? Foreclosures, failing banks, etc. If we keep going in that direction there will no longer be an American Dream to strive for.

Obama does not believe that he is his berother's keeper. He believes that we, the American taxpayer, is. Just look at the living condition of his half brother in Kenya and aunt in the U.S. If he genuinely believes that we should share our income with the less fortunate, why doesn't he share $1 million of his money with his relatives?

In response to Jennifer on Oct 31 at 1:09 pm. Please ask yourself why our financial community is in the shape it is in right now. If you look back, during the Clinton administration, Freddie Mac came into being with the purpose of providing mortgage loans for low income people. These people would never have qualified for a loan any other way and it is obvious now that they are unable (or unwilling) to pay their mortgages thus causing a major collapse. If lending institutions were left to decide for themselves who they would finance and who they would not, then the economic status of this wonderful country would be stable. I wholeheartedly agree with you that the president cannot change anything single-handedly. It is the congress as a whole with the president signing the change into law or being overridden by congress should he veto. I just wish that before people begin throwing the blame around that they do their homework first.

If this truly is the land of opportunity ,then why is there such a Great divide between rich and middle class ,Rich and poor and Smart and Hard-workibg ? The rich keep the wages down so the middle class HAS to Work hard and we can`t afford to go to college to get as smart as them ( oxymoron ) They are rich ,powerful and the only hard work they do is whip us to work harder to make Them more money .......

Hey S. Fast - how's the Quality of Life improving for the Un-born under an Obama Presidency? Yours is a mis-guided millionaire's, typical elitist Democratic view...
"Presidential"? - how about all those "Present" votes? You are correct he comes off as smooth and polished...so did Clinton, until he disgraced his county and the office by his selfish and immoral behavior. (Quick Reminder - he cheated on his wife and then lied to the American people - just as Obama lied about Public financing, Revered Wright and Bill Ayers). McCain has always put his county first and so should you. Wake up and stop buying into the "Teen-Idol" like hyesteria - you seem like an intellegent guy but you have been fooled.

I grew up in Chicago. Whatever Bill Ayers past, he's a fine teacher, dedicated charity worker, and a humanitarian.

That said, I'd also like to say that I am well familiar with the policies of Sen. Obama.

The allegations against him are false, plain and simple. There's no anti-Jew, anti-white, anti-American, Muslim extremist, socialist anything to him.

I would think the self proclaimed intelligent individuals who are so quick to point the finger would consider this:

If he were truly all the things he has been accused of, then why has President Bush's much touted and highly expensive Homeland Security not investigated and arrested an American Senator for the crime of High Treason?

Hmm?

BNB, I couldn't agree with you more. People are just trying to find any way to make Obama look bad. I guess I can't really blame those who support McCain for doing that.....since it is all McCain seems to do in his campaign.

I agree that Obama is best for the country. I am sick of people trying to make Obama look bad. He is a man of the people, born. If he is so bad then why is he heavily supported by so many people. I think that McCain is a doddering old fool. I am a veteran and and a college graduate and am out of work. I can not live another 8 years of Bush policies. If Obama talks the talk and walks the walk then we will be better off in the next 8 years. Obama was a great Senator in Illinois. He cares about the people. McCain and his supporters have spend their time trying to bring Obama down, rather than telling us what they are going to do to help. I feel that America was built on helping one another. I am not a socialist but certain things make no sense. All Americans deserve proper health care. I also believe that certain things and rights should be guaranteed to all Americans-education, power, phone, utilities, medical treatment should be free for all Americans.
