The strategists at Planned Parenthood have released a new attack ad, and it's one of the few out there that goes right after Sarah Palin.
The issue: The city of Wasilla, Alaska charged rape victims the cost of examination kits while Palin was mayor.
Here it is:

This is who, the Bush-McCain Republicans, have nominated to represent, what was once, a great Party !! That was before the likes of the Nixons, the Reagans and the Bushes, got a hold of it and besmirched its great traditions !! Than, the inept Senator McCain, tries to fool the electorate into voting for a Vice-Presidential nominee that has too much to learn, before she is ready to assume the Office of the President, should she need to !! These Republicans, of 2008, turn out to be a gang of provocateurs, distorters, character-assassins, revisionists and no where to be found, are men and women of honor and character and honesty. I know, President Lincoln has buried his head in his hands, in shame, for what these " Republicans ", have done to his Party !! Now, the nation must muddle through an election, in which, these fraudulent " Republicans " have put up the incompetent McCain-Who ticket and they expect us to vote for this ticket to nowhere !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Obama did vote "present" on several abortion bills in the Illinois Senate, along with other Democrats, as a strategy against Republicans who repeatedly sponsored anti-abortion legislation in an attempt to use "no" votes against Democrats.
His actions were supported by Planned Parenthood. So what?
Obama has publicly supported the pro-choice position throughout his career. He has also stated that he personally would prefer helping women with preventing un-wanted pregnancies rather than have abortions, This is unlike Republicans. They legislate against birth control, and don't want to allow women to have a choice.

Can any of the 6,000 "reporters" blanketing Alaska find ONE person who actually paid for a Wasilla "rape kit?"
No.
Because Wasilla never charged anyone during the time Palin was mayor. In fact, the city paid for the kits.
Planned Parenthood is just another Obama campaign organ. Like the Swamp.

There is no way this practice can be defended, none.

THAT AD SAYS>WOMEN LIKE GRETCHIN (not Gretchin).
NEWS BUSTERS>
In the end, it seems that this story is a wild exaggeration about Palin's role in this policy. There is no proof that she ever knew about the policy until long after the situation hit the news, it is untrue that her town was "unique" in blocking the measure, no evidence that she, herself, was notorious for the policy, and no proof that any victims were ever charged for rape kits. In fact, according to the Uniform Crime Report there were only 5 rapes reported in the 6 years she was mayor of Wasilla and four of those happened after the state law in question was passed.

"There is no proof that she ever knew about the policy until long after the situation hit the news,"
So your saying that she failed in her duty as the Mayor to be aware of what policies her town was enforcing? If she could not make herself aware of what the small number of government employees she was elected to oversee as Mayor of Wassila were doing, what are the chances she will be able to handle the second highest position in the Federal Government?

Didn't Bambi Moosekiller ask her town librarian if she would consider banning certain books? Just the fact that she would make the suggestion while in her capacity as a mayor - a public official - makes her per se unacceptable to be Vice President. Thank goodness Senator Biden tomorrow will conclusively reveal this back-country naif for what she is - a know-nothing religious fanatic.

No proof? Oh, OK, I guess CNN is just another member of the elitist media, just "makin' things up" to attack poor Sarah.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/21/palin.rape.exams/index.html
And that would also mean that Alaska Bill HB270 was simply made up in anticipation of Palin one day being pegged to be VP?
And Bruce -- how dare you suggest that women talk to the media about their rapes. You simply cannot understand what a foul event that is in a woman's life. To suggest that the media should talk to any of these women is simply reprehensible.
And no proof victim's were charged? How about this from the police chief:
****************************
After it became law, Wasilla's police chief told the local paper, The Frontiersman, that it would cost the city $5,000 to $14,000 a year -- money that he'd have to find.
"In the past, we've charged the cost of the exams to the victim's insurance company when possible," Fannon was quoted as saying. "I just don't want to see any more burden on the taxpayer."
******************
Now, before you say, oh, the insurance companies are being charged, think about your own coverage. Does your policy cover every single nickel and dime? No. You more than likely have some out of pocket costs. So yes, whether directly billed or not, the victims were financially (on top of emotionally) paying for being the victim of a horrible crime.

Let's also keep in mind that this is the same governor who cut her own Mayoral duties saying it wasn't "rocket science."
No wonder she didn't have a clue as to what was going on in her own, tiny administration. If that is indeed the case.
