Note the flimmaker's sleight of hand here -- and where else will you get a chance to see Ron Howard trimming his nose hairs?
The seasoned Hollywood director who first entered our living rooms in black and white as young Opie has "assembled" an all-star cast of characters -- Andy Griffith and Henry Winkler, basically -- to help him endorse a candidate for president.
The video may be less notable for its political power than for its tour down TV's memory lane: The video, in partnership with Funny or Die.com, follows Howard from his make-up trailer to his boyhood, as Opie Taylor, seated with Andy Griffith, and then as Richie Cunningham, catching up with the Fonz, Henry Winkler.

Somehow I see a slight difference between this and Michelle Bachmanns' type of America. I think I'll stick with Mayberry.

Way to go, guys !! That's what America is all about, in the end, being honest and straightforward. Andy Griffith, Ron Howard and Henry Winkler are three more, good reasons, to consider Senator Obama, as our next President !! We don't need any more jokes, period, in our White House and that does include the McCain-Palin ticket, to Nowhere !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

The Fonz is on the poli sci faculty at which university?
Looking forward to seeing the rebuttal from Goober and Howard Sprague.

I can't wait for all the Republicans to start screaming about actors staying out of politics. Except Reagan, Arnold, Thompson...

You're going to need a seance because Jack Dodsen, the actor who played Howard Sprague on "The Andy Griffith Show", died in 1994.
George "Goober" Lindsey is still alive though.

Good point Paul. And I'm sure the same Republicans who complained when Oprah campaigned for Obama will also have a problem with Elizabeth Hasslebeck doing the same for McCain. They're just hypocrites who have no response to something like this other than to make some stupid statement about celebrities' endorsement being uninformed and meaningless.

What is really upsetting is that the beloved characters of Opie, Sherrif Andy Taylor and the Fonz were always considered non partisan and were welcome in any living room in America. Sadly, Ron Howard has found a way to sully their memories and whether you are Democrat or Republican, some things should be considered sacred.
