John McCain faces "a very steep hill to climb,'' says Karl Rove, the "architect'' of President Bush's two election campaigns.

Rove, in an appearance on FOX News Sunday this morning, had this to say about the "blame game'' that appears to be playing out within the advisory ranks of the McCain campaign - with reports of people inside casting blame on one another for what may be going wrong

"It is a sign of undisciplined people who do not have the loyalty that they ought to have to the candidate whom they're serving,' Rove said. "And it's -- it's a sad sight to see... Nobody makes themselves look good by this process... You never like to see this... you particularly don't like to see it 10 days before an election."

McCain's running mate has suffered unfair criticism as well, Rove suggested: "She has been on the receiving end of relentlessly negative coverage, I think a lot of it unfair some of it motivated by the cultural disconnect between her sort of middle America values and views and sort of the values and views of those who cover her."

Of course, Rove may be a GOP partiisan, but he also was among those who forcefully blocked McCain's path to the Republican nomination in 2000.

Yet Rove's own look at the electoral map portrays a distinct advantage for Democrat Barack Obama in the closing weeks of the campaign.

""In order for McCain to win,'' he said, "he's got a very steep hill to climb.''

Rove knows Palin is not qualified, he is using the same blame game.

Alaska's major newspaper endorsed Obama. They said most people that worked with Palin said she was not ready to be a heartbeat away for being President

The major newspaper in Arizona has not endorsed anyone. Obama has more than a 3 to 1 lead in newpaper endorsements. Several have never endorsed a Democrat and some had never endorsed or had not endorsed for a long time.

Many papers listed Palin as a major reason. Others listed Obama's cool and calm, intelligence, repairing our world image, and his outstanding campaign strategy.

Kerry had a small lead in endorsements in 2004

Is Obama a marxist? IS he a socialist? This video interview lays it bare.

Palin has only her self to blame!
She is in anyway ready for a VP of this country in our problems facing us today.
McCain has to be joking and fooling Americans all over again. That goes for Rove too. Who cares what he thinks anymore.

"Of course, Rove may be a GOP partiisan [sic] ..."

Rove is a GOP "partisan" (correct spelling)--just like Mark Silva is a Democrat partisan. The difference is that Mr. Silva tries to hide that fact from his readers.

I donated money to McCain's campaign in 2000 and was appalled by Rove's tactics in South Carolina, which ended McCain's run that year. However, once I saw McCain embracing Rove proteges and tactics in 2008, I knew he was not the man I once admired. He's just another typical politician who will say and do anything to get elected. I'm saddened by this; I did think at one point he was different.

Senator McCain is an excellant climber he has done more than Obam ever will-
Obam doesn't like to show his climbing through politics---

Palin's convention speech went very negative on the press; it's only natural that the press wasn't going to take that lying down and was going to come right back at her. Problem for her is that she is just horribly unqualified to be vice-president let alone president!

If McCain pulls this out of the fire, it will be do to cheating, fear, and racism. If the election is stolen from a majority of Americans by a minority of sectionalists, just remember the next day is the 5th of November.

So is Rove part of the left wing media elite responsible for biased coverage against McCain, or the one responsible for a smear campaign against McCain back in the 2000 republican primaries?

Gee, where these dire straits for republicans come from in 08?

Well, Palin quoted the "soft-fascist" Pelger in her speech: that was hardly going to go down well.

Now, I am sure that Palin did not know the source of the quote, and I rather doubt that she has any idea who Westbrook Pelger is. To be blunt, she simply is not that well-informed about the world or US history. However, using a quote from a guy who blamed Nazis for giving anti-semitism a bad name (rather than for anti-semitism), who felt that "good" Americans should be racist, who expressed regret over the failed assassination attempt of FDR and who published a cry for a "patriot" to assassinate Bobby Kennedy is not going to endear himself to moderates, never mind liberals.

Think how much fun that Obama "victory" rally at Grant Park will be Nov. 4 when Obama loses. Chicago police and fire departments are preparing for the worst (source today's Sun Times). Hopefully, all of the Tribune writers who so openly favored Obama will be in attendance. Helmets and flak jackets are optional.

Say HEY!! The republican party is sick, along with the operatives that run this sleaze bag bunch of scums. By the way who are these so called ELDERS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, its sounds like it has a religious connotation to it!! Could it be that Ted Haggard is still running the show from Colorado??
These evangelists can keep their religion the hell out of my government!! whiteagle38

Mal is a fool. He takes an interview between Fox News and Joe Biden and uses it to make Obama a marixt and socialist? My God, mal, your IQ is lower than your age. Biden answering questions proves not a damn thing!

McCain badly shot himself in the foot by selecting Palin as his running mate.

His climbing ability is going to be severely hindered by this self-inflicted injury.

McCain is already over the hill, and is racing to the bottom.

Palin is as ready to lead as Obama is ready. At least on the republican ticket the least experienced one is not running for President.

Palin might be a heartbeat away from the presidency. However OBama is already there.

I am amazed at the people who write that they are against "socialism". I would like to ask them : What is socialism? We live in a society, don“t we? So are we socialists! That does not mean that we are communists or completely controlled by the government. But it does mean that we do care for one another, help one another and, at the same time, be sure that we have enough to take care of ourselves. To be Christian is to be social minded--to be socialist. That does not mean to be controlled by the government, but to be a part of the government. Jesus preached and lived socialism.

I agree with you billp

As a social liberal, fiscal conservative and moderate miltary, I thought McCain was the perfect candidate. Because of his attempts to cater to the hardliners in his party, he's become a pawn to Rovian politics and lost his way with the middle class and the moderates. This McCain has now became the angy old man instead of the understanding comprising maverick who played for nobodies side.

Oh please -- McCain picking [being forced to accept(?)] Palin was as stupid as Obama dissing Clinton for Biden, if not worse. Does anyone think this conversation would be the same if McCain stuck with his initial choice and picked Lieberman, or picked someone like Mitt Romney? Heck no.

McCain's downfall started with Palin, and it only worsened with the market crash. He's doomed.

This a code story for get out the vote by the silent majority.

vote we will in Huge numbers for MCPalin

How can anyone give credence to whatever rove says? IMO he is pure EVIL and is a negative force for everyone who wants to do good.

Yea,

Go ahead and vote for MCPalin and see how much these clowns screw this country up. MCPalin has already said that they don't undertand the economy, and they show it by spening over $170,000.00 for clothes and $20,000.00 for a makeup artist.

"vote we will in Huge numbers for MCPalin"

Yoda, is that you?

He's a sleazy Neo Commie just like the rest of the politicians, reporters, pundits, etc.

The people who say Palin is as ready to serve as Obama, if not more so, apparently are relying on her resume alone in making this judgment. Many articles have reported on her profound lack of knowledge about federal and foreign policies and that she does not talk to the press because she is still learning. I sincerely am baffled as to how the people who defend her are in no way troubled by that.

on the net, try:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/this could be the game changer.html

Most of the people who are running around screaming that Obama is a Socialist likely could not even define what one is. Even if Obama were a Socialist there is little chance he could ever convert America into a Socialist society. No President would have that kind of power.

Karl Rove gave us eight years of Bush and led to the decline of our nation's economy, 2 wars, and massive government debt. He is the architect of mayhem, who cares what he thinks, he should be prosecuted for crimes against the nation. Bush, cheney, McCain, Palin are all borrow and spend republicans. Borrow and spend, and pile up massive debt. Cheney said defficits don't matter, well that is only true when you leave the mess for the next administration to clean up. Borrow and spend republicans lecturing others on being "socialist". Jesus was a socialist.

so Rove is backing away..no surprise there. Can't be too near a sinking ship or you"ll get pulled under.
Brilliant move to have his own map....objectively showing McCain's weaknesses.
Rove is already planning the next election cycle.
