Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) has a new ad that accuses Democratic rival Ronnie Musgrove of getting support from, of all things, liberals. That alone is probably enough to hurt a Senate candidate in Mississippi.
But the ad goes further, depicting gays for instance by using some guys dressed like the Village People. Yes, the Village People.
There's also a creepy guy who represents pro-choice folks and if you look at the people in the background, a woman in a Playboy Bunny outfit and some guys who appear to be wearing orange prison overalls.
That cow suit threw me until I read that when Musgrove was governor, his campaign received campaign donations from a man connected to a failed beef plant, who was convicted for "conspiracy to influence a public official," according to a Clarion Ledger story. Musgrove hasn't been implicated in the wrong doing.
The Wicker ad seems like it goes one stereotype too far with the Village People. True, it's not as outrageous as the Kansas ad we featured yesterday, but we still think it's worth entering in the over-the-top political ad contest.

...because Mississippi needs a senator who is comically inept, bigoted, and obviously desperate. I'm not Roger Wicker (Thank God!) but I do approve the subtext of his latest message.
