The Swamp

by Frank James

The Obama Administration doesn't even take office for two months yet and already the conservative Family Research Council has declared war on it, all the better for fundraising purposes.

Tony Perkins, the group's president, has this letter
up on FRC's website:

I don't want to sugarcoat the damage our movement absorbed last week.

In January, we will see the government consolidated in the hands of the most radical, left-wing president and Congress in the history of our Republic. And they plan to drastically change our nation the moment they take power.

Yet... there is ample reason for hope if we take a stand.

And if we start now.

Never forget: Extreme liberalism does not work as a governing philosophy. As in the past, the Left is likely to suffer a rapid backlash as their policies are exposed... and as they fail to help Americans.

Importantly, most Americans still disagree with the newly elected leaders in Washington, D.C. on issues of faith, family, and freedom.

Consider that:

* Our movement seemed doomed in 1976 with a liberal president, Jimmy Carter, and a liberal-dominated Congress. Four years later, Ronald Reagan led a conservative revolution that changed history.

* Our movement seemed doomed again in 1992 when Bill Clinton and a liberal-dominated Congress took power. Two years later, conservatives stormed into power in Congress and largely countered the Clinton presidency.

Therefore, FRC is launching a plan to help expose our liberal leaders' radicalism to America even as we short-circuit their agenda in Washington.

Knowing an Obama victory was possible, FRC crafted this plan in advance.

Now I need your help to launch it. Establish a recurring gift to help every month the liberals are in power.

The history of our faith and freedom is the story of men and women like you creating victory out of very bleak moments of apparent defeat.

So make no mistake, this can be our movement's "finest hour."

Help Launch "Our Finest Hour": The FRC Plan to Reverse the Threat to Our Values and Freedom. The plan includes:

* Building a Capitol Hill Firewall by supplying conservative and genuinely centrist members of Congress with the facts and answers they will use to stop the radical agenda of the Left.

* Building a Supreme Court Firewall by laying the groundwork in the Senate and nation to reject any radical judicial activist nominees.

* Building a National Firestorm of facts through a media strategy that will expose the extremism of leaders in the White House and Congress. FRC will prepare a conservative, pro-family comeback as Americans see the true liberal agenda.

Bunch of sore losers! As if Regans and the Bush's policies did anything for the American people other then create the largest goverment spending in history that didnt even trickle down to help Americans! You people can keep up with your scare tactics as much as you want IT WONT WORK as witness to the recent election. Keep it up losers and your minority will become so small you'll have no one in your pack but a bunch of illiterate banjo players. Thats the America you want. Thank God its not the America the majority wants.

Don't you just love them christian Republicans ?? They are so full of charity and love and good will !! I am deeply touched, as I am sure most of their congregations will be, when these flyers start hitting their wallets !! What's a little " white lie " in the name of God ? He understands, we need more money, to tell more lies !! Shame on the men and women of these christian churches that spread their hate and fear around, for Our Lord doesn't like ugly, or sinful and He has an incredible memory !! So, for your own salvation, stop with the hate- and fear-mongering and I'm sure our dear Lord will smile upon you and remove this unchristian-like behavior, you insist upon practicing !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

They prove once again how out of touch they are with how most Americans think; this is why they lost so badly in the elections, so if they like to be delusional, it's fine with me, but it's also sad.

"Importantly, most Americans still disagree with the newly elected leaders in Washington, D.C. on issues of faith, family, and freedom."

Really,Tony? Then how did they all get elected??

"Never forget: Extreme liberalism does not work as a governing philosophy. As in the past, the Left is likely to suffer a rapid backlash as their policies are exposed... and as they fail to help Americans."

As compared to how your friends in DC have done the past 8 years?? The problem is that the FRC and it's friends are becoming more and more a non-factor in America today. If all their "power" could not get John McCain and that great American Sarah Palin elected, what makes them think they are relevant today?

Democrats have families, go to church, and honor the
freedoms in America. Democrats fight in our wars, raise their children, pay their taxes, police our streets and fight our fires. Suggesting that they don't, or that these values are exclusive to evangelical christians or republicans is a lie, and christians aren't supposed to lie. Lying is a sin. Perkins message is in sin.

Think Twice America-
Mr Perkins has an excellant point - Try to prove other wise
Lets pray and hope America dosen't lose any of its freedom in the next four years-

This article characterizes all that is wrong in America - and Sarah Palin is their Icon. ............

Boy, for a second there I thought I was reading a letter from the NRA! I'm glad it was for the Family Research Council.....now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Idiots. The sooner the Pugs realize that these tactics are as outdated as last month's milk, the sonner they might have a chance to resurect this party that keeps sinking like the titanic. If they do not watch out, they will surely be replaced by the Libertarians.

Can't blame the public for stocking up on fire arms with the Democrats rumored to CHANGE the constution regarding bearing arms, next would be freedom of speech-

You mean like the freedoms the Republicans have been eroding for the last 8 years?

The democrats won this one, Tony, with 53%+ of the vote. They took 54% of the Catholic vote, 66% of the Latino vote, probably 85% of the Jewish vote, and of course 99% of the African American vote. They won blue states. They won so-called battleground states. They even won in some formerly reliably red states. Forgetaboutit. Save yourself and forgetabouit.

Even if the Marxists do fail miserably, as we expect that they will, they will still get great mileage out of blaming George Bush for the next 4 - 8 years. Forgetaboutit. Elections have consequences and We r done.

"...the most radical, left-wing president and Congress in the history of our Republic."
.
Huh?! What is that based on? Obama and Co. are timid middle of the mainstream champions of the status quo. Pretending that Obama is a "radical leftist" is as silly (as insane) as pretending there's no such thing as the Chicago Political Machine!

Try to "prove" he's right. Perkins has a point, but "excellent" is purely an opinion. Seems obvious to me that if people were in agreement with his position, they'd have VOTED that way. The "proof" seems to indicate otherwise, doesn't it?

And, for Django -- I'm sure we'll do NO MORE blaming of Bush for the next 4-8 years than you've done blaming Clinton for the past 10. And Bush even DESERVES blame more than Clinton. Does Obama get a free ride for the first year of office and a major terrorist attack as a "gimme" like Bush did? Or does he actually have to take responsibility for himself, which Bush NEVER did?

If the FRC are "sore losers," as some here are writing, then so are the left-wing lobbying groups that did the same thing (only with more vitriol) after GWB's victory in 2000. The wording and tone of the FRC appeal is eerily similar to some of the appeals I received from People for the American Way, NARAL and other groups in late 2000/early 2001. Will be interesting to see if President Obama makes the same mistakes the Clintons made in 1993---stay true to their hard-left politics and wind up alienating mainstream America (evidenced in the 1994 election results), or if he'll move a little towards the center, with an eye on winning re-election. (Doubtless, the Daleys and Axelrod are pushing him towards the center.)

"Extreme liberalism?"

It should be clear to anyone with half a brain that the extreme neo-conservatism that Tony Perkins embraces has been detrimental to our country.

Even Bill Kristol says that Obama will surprise many because he will govern from the center. Repeat: EVEN BILL KRISTOL!!!!

Yeah that last "liberal" we had in the White House gave us the strongest economy in history. I sure don't want to go back to that again!

Tony,
Remember this; Jesus rode an ass, not an elephant.

We are happy to see Tony P. is continuing the winning Palin/McCain strategy.

What the hey! Bush's administration adhered to the "redistribute the wealth to the wealthy ideology". Which was welfare for the rich. That is what the neo-cons stand for, no matter how they butter it. If you put lipstick on a pig, is it not still a pig!! The democrats are for middle america which the neo-cons will never be. What the hell kind of a party teaches hatred!! Hope they don't get in power for another fifty years or so. whiteagle

[Their] movement's "finest hour" will be its ignomy, with a prize position in the history books of the future. Of course, this is unless Americans sway towards the right again, and the future of everyone is non-existant. No mistake can be made here. The ignorance which exudes from this letter sickena the U.S, and the world. No home is safe until there are no longer any people like this. Even one person like this is a general threat to our health. I dont wanna feel sick at all. If only there was a hell for such people. It is a shame we must endure them in life. For with them it is no heaven.
