MIAMI - Sen. John McCain has always had a way of campaigning right up until the finish line.
While other candidates may saunter in the final days of a campaign, McCain keeps going, even when it seems he doesn't have a chance of winning.
Now, as the Republican candidate for president, McCain is breaking a time-honored tradition. Every Election Day, McCain goes to the polls to vote, and then he watches a movie to pass the time.
This year, campaign officials insist that they are gaining in the polls against Democrat Barack Obama. And they say, they will not ease up - even on Election Day.
Campaign manager Rick Davis said that McCain will travel to Grand Junction, Colorado and Albuquerque, New Mexico on Tuesday shortly after he votes in Phoenix - for himself. In part, it's because Obama is already planning on campaigning on Election Day. And in part, Davis said, it's because they believe McCain is making gains in western states, such as Colorado and Nevada, which he will hit on Monday.
That means that after 26-hours of campaigning starting Monday morning in Miami through Tuesday morning in seven states, McCain will grab a couple hours of sleep, get up and hit the trail again.
Davis also said that the campaign is prepared in case McCain wins. Obama's campaign has created a separate team to work on the transition if he is elected. Davis said the McCain campaign will move quickly if the senator wins, but that they don't plan on sharing any information about it ahead of time. "We can still keep a secret," Davis said.
No word on whether McCain will watch a movie on his campaign plane.

Comments
When Senator McCain arrives in New Mexico his first order of business should be finding Governor Bill Richardson and pinning him down on the tax increases that Senator Obama plans if he is elected.
Governor Richardson stated late last week that under an Obama administration the taxes of those making $120,000. will rise.
This is less than half of what Senator Obama is telling us.
I wonder what Governor Richardson knows that Senator Obama is not telling us?

now would be a good time to write down all the promises in as much detail as possible and save them for future reference.
we have heard what the candidates intend to do. let us see what the winner really does.
the president no matter which party must get congress to enact his programs so promises will not all be kept .

An Obama win is starting to look more rather than less likely. I'd like to know what an Obama Presidency would mean for Britons.

Before you vote for Obama, please make sure you really think it out. A large portion of the population works for some sort of corporation. Obama plans to tax the heck of corporations that make a lot of money by closing tax "loopholes." What do you think will happen if taxes corporations more, they will either move over seas or just say, "the heck with it, i'm closing up shop." Then all the people who work for the corporations lose their jobs. We need the wealthy people to employee the middles class. I know poeple are frustrated with Bush and want change and that is understandable, but it needs to be good change and Obama just ain't it. People wanted change two years ago and voted in a democrat majority congress. Before that election, consumer confidence was at a record high, unleaded gas was selling for close to 2 dollars, the unemployement rate was 4.5% and falling, the dow jones was as 14,000 and climbing. This being said, Congress passes most legistlation on all fiscal matters, shouldn't ehy get some blame. Obama is going to destroy this country with his socialist policy.

In the 2000 election primaries the Republican Party said that George W Bush was more qualified and competent to be president than John McCain. Just what we need, someone that is less qualified than W in the White House...

Shorter Nick: Bow to your corporate masters. Do not dare question them, but Obey. Government of the Corporation, by the Corporation, for the Corporation.

Since both candidates are campaigning on election day the title of this "news" should read as such.
What do you expect - it is clear both candidates are concerned enough to keep fighting.

Nick, I agree. "Stick it to corporations" plays well with the ignorant, but is it really a good idea? A corporation is in business for one purpose - maximize profit under the law. If you stick it to them with an increased tax, one of two things will happen. First, they will treat it as a business expense and try to pass it along to the consumer. If it is a necessary commodity like gasoline, we just got an additional gas tax. If that doesn't work, they can move as you suggested, or, more likely, cut expenses, including their workforce. Who will get cut? Let me give you a hint - it wont be the CEO.
The most annoying thing about Obama is that I believe he knows this, yet preys on the ignorant by aiming a message at the lowest common denominator; i.e., the impulse level to connect with his more ignorant supporters: corporation = bad. He has to know that increasing taxes on businesses in a struggling economy is a terrible idea, and I believe it will be the first of his promises that he reneges on when he becomes president.

Have you been living under a rock lately, those corporations your talking about have been getting huge tax breaks already, and their still shipping our jobs overseas. It seems to me that if you tax corporations more if they move their operations overseas, they would have more incentive to keep those jobs here. If corporations want to reap the benefits of this country, then they should support American labor, and stop biting the hand that feeds them.
