After weeks of speculation, President-elect Barack Obama formally will introduce Sen. Hillary Clinton as his nominee for Secretary of State at a news conference Monday morning in Chicago, according to a Democrat close to the New York senator. Clinton plans to attend the event.
According to a Democrat familiar with the transition team's work, the former First Lady is part of a national security team that also includes: Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, nominee for Secretary of Homeland Security; Eric Holder, for Attorney General; Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who will remain in his current position for at least one year; retired Marine Gen. Jim Jones, for National Security Adviser; retired Adm. Dennis Blair, for Director of National Intelligence; and Susan Rice, for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Some of these officials also are expected to appear at the news conference Monday.
To assuage concerns about Clinton's appointment, her husband, former President Bill Clinton, has agreed to a series of steps aimed at avoiding the appearance of a conflict of interest. Before the end of the year, he will make public the names of 208,000 donors to his library and charitable foundation - contributions that began in 1997.
Bill Clinton, who has made millions of dollars giving speeches since leaving the White House, also has agreed to tell State Department ethics officials about any speeches he gives in the future, and to alert the White House counsel's office "as appropriate.''

Well, Obama demeaned Clinton all throughout the Primaries. He was playing by the book Case for Hillary author stated that any opposition to her would do. Basically, it was an Old Game for a Not so Old Poltician to Play.
I sure Hope the Obama voters will see that Change is Not the Way Politics is actually Played. Chess is a Very Old Game.

It's true that this is politics as usual. My objection to Obama was that he claimed to be something other than what he was - namely another politician and not a true change agent. That being said, I am very happy that Obama has nominated Hillary Clinton to be Secretary of State. This move goes very far in my book.

Inky.....Of course being an Obama supporter and not smart enough to know any better......It seems we were just smart enough to kick your butt in Nov.
Bemused.......I don't understand how this argument flies. You wanted Obama to bring a knife to a gun fight? A new direction does not need new faces.....just new policies.

So interesting, indeed. Here's president-elect Obama POTUS in Charge and HIS subordinates like SoS Hillary age 61 just a stone's throw from the age of Obama's mother had she survived so long! Yes, Clinton will implement the policies of Mr. President 44! Hillary has strong work ethic, Obama stated in presenting her __ just what I have posted elsewhere__ Hillary's a wonk, a work-horse; got global milieage, celebrity, a feisty communicator. . . and they both know that he beat her out of the presidency. SoS Hill will word hard for a legacy for now; two years hence will tell the more of Hill's story. . . . And Obama's the consummate Chicago pol __but Obama is also an inspirational motivator who really cares about the American people left way outside of the American dream. What he will deliver time will tell __ for a start he's picked super surrogates.
