Here's a major indicator of just how much of a honeymoon President-elect Obama is enjoying: nearly half of conservatives say they believe he'll make a good president, according to a Gallup Poll.
Here's an excerpt:
PRINCETON, NJ -- The extent to which Barack Obama is experiencing a post-election wave of good will from Americans is evident in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking results, from Nov. 9-11, in which close to half of political conservatives -- 45% -- say they are "confident in his ability to be a good president." About the same percentage (46%) disagree.

Comments
The Gallup poll results cited here have little genuine value given its patently contradictory results. How is it, for instance, that 45% of all "political conservatives" have confidence in Obama's ability as president when the same poll shows that only 27% of all Republicans expressed such confidence, and 65% of all Republicans said they had no confidence in him? I suspect the discrepancy could be explained by Gallup's failure to explain what was meant by a "political conservative." It's either that, or Gallup allowed the people polled to define "political conservative" any way they wanted.

This should be a red flag for for the Obamabots who call themselves Liberal or Progressive. Few will notice though, since they're programmed not to.

@JohnW
I think that you make the assumption that all conservatives are Republican - I would venture a guess, for example, that the majority of folks in, say, Heath Shuler's congressional district in NC(?), are conservative, but would still ID as Democrats- in other words, if you think you're conservative, you probably are... FWIW

MJ....do some homework on your pug party. If you had any clue what Rove and Atwater stand for, you would really know who was being brain washed. The problem with Dems is that they think too much and thus many times are unable to work like a machine. Please post educated posts here. PLEASE!

I Love it! Yes Cons believe he will be a good pres, after all, it was the conservatives that got him elected. Everyone that voted for George W set up the stage for OB, the 1st black President of US. Thanks! Get over it!

A lot of conservatives are Democrats and Independents.
What I'd be curious to see is the percentage of evangelical McCain voters who think Obama will be a good President. I saw a poll recently that 52% of evangelical McCain voters think Obama is a Muslim. My guess is these are not the most educated folks.

MJ,
I would think this might serve as a wake-up call to you. There are in fact sizable numbers of conservatives who can think for themselves and can believe that Obama can be a good president. As a progressive I applaud them and am not about to slam someone who self-identifies as conservative.

I am not making the assumption that all conservatives are Republicans. I know better than that. But I also know that there are few "political conservatives" (to use the language of the poll) that are to the left of Republicans. Heath Shuler, for instance, may be a social conservative, but he is not a political conservative. The "politically conservative" Democrat became nearly extinct with the nomination of George McGovern in 1972. In any event, the fact that you and I are having this debate really begs the question as to whether the term "political conservative" was well enough defined to be of any use.

Robot,
"Like a machine"?! Obviously you don't understand irony. Here's an educated post for you -- On the short list of probable cabinet appointments is Organized Crime Banker Alexi Gianoulias.
.
So I guess the mantra "Change" actually does mean something after all -- the Chicago Machine running DC.

Xcellentform, who made you the person that should make the decision if a post is educated or not? You sound like one of those nasty political ads. People it is time to pull together to work out our problems. We need to throw aways the old slash and burn policies that have hurt our nation so much,

What part of the word "probable" don't you get?
Just because someone leaks this to the evil liberal media (probably a Repug operative) you decide to just go ahead and pretend that it's written in stone?

I'm still waiting to find out what a "Conservative" is.
Couldn't be these jokers who just ran up another 5 trillion in debt the past 8 years!!!!
