SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- As he boarded his campaign plane here this morning, Sen. Barack Obama said he plans to meet the press on Wednesday, the day after the election.
On the tarmac, ABC News' intrepid Jake Tapper shouted at the candidate that he should have a press conference, something he has not done in some time. "I will. On Wednesday," Obama responded.
Linda Douglass, a senior aide, later told reporters on the plane that the senator meant he would have a news conference, if he wins the election. After the plane landed in Columbus, Ohio, she said Obama did not mean it after all.
He'll meet the press before the end of the week, she said, but "don't count on Wednesday."

Barack Obama is leading in all the polls because he is a practical man who has demonstrated he will govern from the center. ..................

So typical of a man without an iota of integrity. He has lied about his past, he lied about taking public financing, he has lied about his tax cuts, he has lied about his foreign policy stands, he has lied about the surge.. The more he and his idiot savant sidekick are exposed the more obvious it becomes. He is not the messiah. He nothing more than a Chicago political machine thug.

Barack Obama needs to nip "Auntiegate" in the bud.
He should give the reporters 15 minutes to respond to questions about what he knew and when he knew it.
I suspect that Obama never asked his half-aunt about her immigration status. I would guess that he suspected she might have been here illegally, but did not want to broach the subject.
If so, he might have been unwise in inviting her to his swearing-in ceremony. Or, maybe by doing so, he felt that he could unburden himself about any doubts about her status.
Whatever the case or whatever the circumstances, he needs to come clean and he needs to come clean within the next 24 hours.
Americans are a forgiving lot, but first they have to know what they are forgiving.
At this late stage, if he acknowledges that he did know about her status then his campaign has ended.
That is what we who supported him suspect and fear. And if we suspect and fear it, then others surely suspect it and will make him pay at the polls.
No matter how the news was leaked, it is out. And now that it is "out," it needs to be addressed directly by the candidate. Failure to do so leaves the voter with too many doubts in an election that is still too close to call.

Obama has already talked about Ayers...has that done anything to quell the rabid? He can talk till he is blue in the face. It is not truth they seek....just the office.

I want to hear about governmental issues not silliness like Wm Ayers. I do not like the fact that it has been six weeks since there has been a press conference. Because the press often stresses silly issue like Ayers or Joe the Plumber, it makes it difficult to have press conferences but after the election there are no excuses. I do not want another Bush when it comes to meeting the press.
Another example of non issues is his aunt. Only those interested in partisan back bitting have any concern. He would be foolish to do anything but ignore Roger's comments of 1:19PM

I guess I'm wondering why MCSAME hasn't been asked about his wierd behavior re: the Russia/Georgia stuff:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article
/2008/08/12/AR2008081202932.html
Or about his possible involvement in a fatal car crash outside a naval base gates in 1964:

There is a general pattern of recklessness with this guy....
And the embedded political media is pressing which candidate for a press conference?
